From Runaway Bride to Global Queen-Chapter 169 - Jenfors Ran Away
Chapter 169: Chapter 169 Jenfors Ran Away
Lu Yanchuan rushed to the company, Qiao Yi was already waiting for him downstairs.
After getting in the car, Qiao Yi realized Lu Yanchuan was driving her towards the outskirts.
“Where are we going? What evidence are you talking about? I still need to communicate with Taylor!”
“We’re going to capture Jenfors. My people have found Dirk Group’s storage warehouse in Capital City.”
Lu Yanchuan explained to Qiao Yi while slamming on the accelerator.
Qiao Yi had almost never ridden in a car driven by Lu Yanchuan himself; it had always been Ma Yu driving them before, so Qiao Yi never knew that Lu Yanchuan’s driving was so terrifying.
“Blazing fast” doesn’t suffice to describe Lu Yanchuan’s driving skills; if Qiao Yi had to come up with a suitable phrase right now, there were only three words in her mind.
Help me!!!
“Can we… can we slow down a bit…”
With one hand gripping the seatbelt and the other holding the handle above the car door, Qiao Yi was pressed tightly against the seat, even thinking about wedging herself into the backrest.
“We’re almost there.”
Another sharp turn, the tires screeching harshly against the ground.
Qiao Yi was thrown against the door, luckily the seat belt pulled her back into the seat, or else she would have flown out of the window!
Before Qiao Yi died of fright, they finally reached their destination.
“Ugh—”
Qiao Yi turned pale, holding the car door and retching.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m fine… Let’s go inside…”
Qiao Yi retched a few times but couldn’t vomit anything; she weakly waved her hand and staggered towards the nearby warehouse.
“Ah!”
Before she had walked a few steps, Qiao Yi was picked up and carried in the opposite direction of the warehouse.
“Aren’t we going to the warehouse?”
“The warehouse has already been manned, we are going to the surveillance room.”
Was it because her mind was affected by the motion sickness that she hadn’t thought of something so simple?
Qiao Yi internally reflected for a moment and then pushed on Lu Yanchuan’s shoulder.
“Put me down, I can walk by myself.”
Lu Yanchuan pretended not to hear her and continued to hold Qiao Yi, entering a nondescript small house nearby.
The small house looked tiny from the outside but was fully equipped inside.
Ma Yu was startled when he saw Lu Yanchuan carrying Qiao Yi in but guessed why she looked so pale after seeing her face.
He remembered that the first time he experienced Lu Yanchuan’s driving, he wasn’t much better than Qiao Yi.
“How’s the situation inside?”
“Jenfors has arrived, our people have contacted the police, and they should arrive in about ten minutes.”
Lu Yanchuan nodded and walked to the monitors; Qiao Yi was set on a nearby sofa, but she quickly got up and stood next to Lu Yanchuan.
On the surveillance screen was the interior of the warehouse, Jenfors was on the phone with someone, not far from him were around a dozen workers unloading goods from a truck.
From the exterior packaging it’s impossible to deduce what these goods were, but considering how seriously Lu Yanchuan took them, even involving the police, they were definitely not good things.
“This place is somewhat remote, but there are several large factories nearby. Are they too bold, daring to station a warehouse here?”
“This warehouse isn’t owned by Dirk Group, it was originally an abandoned government warehouse, rented out cheaply two months ago. Nobody from the authorities probably ever thought that they would dare to store such a huge amount of goods in a government-owned warehouse.”
Indeed, no one could have guessed, even when they informed the police that someone was storing contraband in the abandoned government warehouse, the police thought it was a joke.
Qiao Yi nodded deeply in agreement, Jenfors really perfected the notion of ‘hiding in plain sight’!
In the video, Jenfors had finished his call, exchanged a few words with the head of the loading crew, and was about to leave.
“He’s leaving! Aren’t we going to act yet?”
Qiao Yi was so anxious she almost rushed into the screen, but was pulled back by Lu Yanchuan who held her hand.
“Wait a bit longer.”
But he’s about to leave, what are we waiting for?
It was unclear whether Lu Yanchuan had already made plans, or if Qiao Yi’s inner thoughts were heard by the heavens, but Jenfors picked up the phone again and stood still.
Just as Qiao Yi breathed a sigh of relief, the door of their small room was opened again, and two policemen entered.
These two might know Lu Yanchuan; they came over and greeted him with somewhat obsequious smiles.
“Our people are all here now, we can start the arrest.”
While they were talking, Qiao Yi turned her head to look at the surveillance monitor again, but this time she couldn’t see Jenfors.
“Where is Jenfors? Why can’t I see him?”
No sooner had Qiao Yi asked the question than Lu Yanchuan and the two policemen looked over, the two policemen hurriedly ran out, but Lu Yanchuan just frowned and showed no other reaction.
“Where is Jenfors?”
“He escaped.”
“What? Escaped?”
Qiao Yi cried out incredulously, how could Jenfors escape in the blink of an eye? This was impossible!
Seeing Lu Yanchuan’s unsurprised expression, Qiao Yi felt both anxious and angry, she grasped Lu Yanchuan’s hand and demanded answers.
“What do you mean he escaped? Weren’t our people already surrounding him?”
Lu Yanchuan didn’t respond to Qiao Yi, instead, it was Ma Yu behind them who answered.
Ma Yu hesitated, glanced at Lu Yanchuan’s expression, and then explained to Qiao Yi.
“Somebody hacked our surveillance system, the part where Jenfors was on the phone was spliced in from earlier footage, Jenfors had left just a moment ago.”
Such a scheme! Qiao Yi could hardly believe it!
“So what do we do now? If he managed to escape this time, won’t it be even harder to catch him next time!”
Through the past few days of investigation, Qiao Yi had come to know Jenfors well. As Dirk’s most trusted lieutenant, Jenfors was far from simple, or else he wouldn’t have managed to escape under such tight surveillance!
“Dirk has planted a lot of people in China, Jenfors will probably leave China very soon.”
Leaving China might also be a solution, as long as he stops causing trouble and havoc, catching Jenfors is a matter for the police and Interpol, ordinary citizens like them should keep out of such dangerous activities!
With Jenfors gone, the warehouse fell like an egg, easily breached.
Although Dirk didn’t lose Jenfors, the loss of the goods in this warehouse would be enough to strike a substantial blow to their market presence in China.
Qiao Yi and Lu Yanchuan walked into the warehouse together, watching box after box of goods being loaded onto the police truck, a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.

Was Lu Yanchuan deliberately making these workers and policemen struggle by not taking action sooner?
