Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world-Chapter 132: Finally?
Chapter 132: Finally?
"You grip that like you’re holding a pastry, not a weapon," the woman drawled, watching him with narrowed eyes.
"Are you planning to woo the aberrants or kill them?"
Brandon grimaced slightly and looked down at the standard-issue academy pistol in his hand.
He adjusted his stance again, trying to remember the form she yelled at him twenty minutes ago.
"I thought I was doing better this time..."
She walked behind him and suddenly smacked the side of his foot with her own.
"Stagger your rear foot. Weigh forward. Ether flows from posture before it flows into power. You’re D-rank, yeah, but that doesn’t mean your fundamentals get to suck."
"Right..." Brandon muttered as he adjusted again.
"Now breathe. In through the nose. Out through the mouth. Sight picture... top of the iron sights aligned. Don’t chase the target; let it walk into your line."
Bang!
His shot rang out and the recoil made his arms tremble slightly.
The target fifty meters downrange jerked slightly as it was hit by the bullet, but only on the left shoulder.
"Not bad," Hollowpoint muttered. "You’re not blind, at least."
Brandon exhaled. "Thanks, I—"
"Don’t thank me. It was a shoulder shot. If that aberrant had six legs and was sprinting at you while screaming in your face with an ether spike in its gut, you’d be dead."
"...Okay."
She pulled a smaller pistol from her hip holster and held it sideways, showing him the markings.
"This is a Model-Z12 Arcpistol. Custom-built for rapid burst fire. Lightweight, ether-channel compatible. If you get good, real good, you can learn to channel your personal ether into the ammo stream and bend shots around cover."
She fired once toward the next booth.
Bang!
The bullet curved unnaturally mid-air and pinged off the side wall into a secondary dummy’s neck, scoring a critical hit.
Brandon blinked "That’s cheating."
She looked at him and muttered "Don’t count on flashy attacks all the time. They drain stamina and take seconds to charge."
"You think an aberrant is going to wait for you to finish your cool move? No. It’ll bite your pretty little spine out while you’re monologuing."
He gave her a sideways glance "That was a little specific."
She nodded once "Now. From now on, you will learn the three-gun drill. Pistol, submachine, long rifle. You’re gonna move, fire, reload, and transition between them until you can do it without thinking. And if you ever fumble a reload, I’ll throw a stun baton at your legs."
He gave her a deadpan stare "That’s a joke, right?"
She shook her head "Nope."
Brandon let out a soft sigh ’Naevora is a lot better than her....’
---
It was late afternoon, and the sun cast golden rays through the wide windows.
The Academy Cafeteria’s top level, normally reserved for higher-ranking students and faculty, was nearly deserted at this hour, giving Brandon and Eira a bit of privacy.
Eira’s head rested lightly on his shoulder as she sipped her frosted fruit drink and the delicate aroma of lychee and citrus.
"Hmm... we have exams in four days," she murmured lazily, her voice slightly muffled against his shirt.
Brandon gave a silent nod, as he absentmindedly swirled his beverage in its bottle.
Ravene’s face appeared in his mind and a pang of guilt ran through his chest.
Eira nudged him gently with her shoulder.
"Brandon, are you listening?" she asked eith a teasing pout in her voice.
"Yeah, yeah... I’m listening."
She let out a small breath and shifted closer, wrapping both arms around his arm and leaning her head against him again. "Then what are you thinking about?"
Brandon slowly put his bottle down onto the table and muttered "I have been thinking anout this for a while."
She turned her head to look at him in the eyes "Brandon?"
With a faint nod, he muttered "Eira... I love you a lot."
Hearing this, her expression softened immediately.
A blush rose to her cheeks, and she giggled gently, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear "Why are you saying things like that out of nowhere? You’re being sappy. We’re already lovers, dummy."
He continued, "And... I love Ravene too."
The smile on Eira’s face froze.
Her breath caught in her lungs and her entire body stiffened, her grip on his arm loosening.
"...Huh?"
Brandon turned his body slightly to face her more directly.
He reached out and gently took her hand.
Her throat tightened in confused emotions as she stared at him and tears moistened her eyes.
"Brandon," she whispered again, "Are you... breaking up with me?"
He quickly shook his head. "No. No, never. Eira, I’m not trying to push you away. I love you so much."
He paused, squeezing her hand gently.
Eira’s lips trembled as tears began to well in her eyes, blurring the golden light streaming in from the windows.
Her heart pounded painfully in her chest as she looked at his face. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"You... love both of us? At the same time?"
Brandon gave a nod "Yeah... I don’t want to lie anymore."
She pulled her hand away, slowly, "So what, Brandon? You’re asking me to... what? Accept that you’re with someone else too?"
Brandon stayed silent for a moment before nodding his head "I love both of you and want to date both of you."
Eira looked away and her jaw clenched tightly as tears streamed silently down her cheeks.
She brushed them away roughly with the back of her hand, trying to breathe.
"And what about Ravene?" she asked bitterly. "Does she know?"
Brandon nodded slowly "Yes. She knows. She... doesn’t mind."
Eira’s lips quivered "Of course, she doesn’t."
Looking at him, she spoke "You really think something like that could work?"
Brandon could only nod and raised his hand, gently caressing the tears from her face.
Feeling the familiar warmth of his touch, she closed her eyes for a moment.
For a long time, she didn’t say anything.
Then, with a soft voice she whispered "I... need time. I need to think."
Brandon lowered his head, "I understand."
Eira stood up, wiping her cheeks quickly and turning toward the stairs.
She paused for a moment, then walked away without looking back.
Brandon remained at the table, staring at the drink he never finished as the condensation dripped slowly down the bottle.
And for the first time in a long while, Brandon felt more alone than he ever had.
But at the same time, he felt a small relief as he could finally be honest.
As he sat there, suddenly he heard another voice "...Brandon?"
