Chapter 135: Surprise?

Next day morning-

Brandon stepped out of the car and adjusted his collar as he looked at the large mansion in front of him.

The doors opened and a woman rushed to him with a big smile on her face "Brandon!!!"

Looking at her, his gaze turned gentle "Florence."

Florence hurriedly walked to him and grasped his hand before pulling him "Come, come sweetie."

He let her pull him inside as they walked through the mansion.

She hugged his arm tightly like an excited mother seeing her child after a long time.

"You seem awfully energetic this morning," he muttered, glancing down at her as she clung to his arm.

"Of course I am!" Florence smile widened. "You rarely come over anymore. A mother’s heart is fragile, you know?"

"I saw you a week ago..."

She pouted her lips and replied "One week is an eternity when you adore someone."

Looking at him, she spoke "And I also have a small surprise for you."

Oh? Brandon tilted his head in amusement, looking into her excited eyes "What could that be?"

Florence smirked and wagged a finger playfully "You will see soon."

---

Finally, Florence stopped before a pair of sliding glass doors and turned to him "Now close you eyes."

With a sigh, he closed his eyes "This isn’t a prank, right?"

"Trust your lovely Florence."

The doors slid open with a barely audible swoosh, and she gently pulled him forward by the hand.

"Alright, open your eyes now."

He opened his eyes and was immediately stunned. Wow

He stood in a massive, luxurious entertainment chamber that looked like something out of a futuristic dream.

The room was flooded with cool ambient lighting.

A row of sleek, top-tier holographic gaming consoles floated above a magnetic floor platform.

Several quantum-accelerated gaming computers were lined up in custom glass pods and each one of them is hooked to ergonomic gaming chairs with embedded neural-feedback cushions.

In one corner there is a massive holo-wall projecting interactive environments, a full 360-degree battlefield simulation currently paused in a dragon fight.

On the opposite wall, a motion-capture VR chamber was set up and its walls are lined with panels that allowed full-body immersion through etheric synapse calibration.

It was the latest model on the market and probably isn’t even available to the public yet.

A full snack and beverage bar rested at the side, filled with premium energy drinks, chocolates, and snacks.

Several game trophies, rare memorabilia, and signed collector’s editions were displayed behind crystal glass as a finishing touch.

Brandon was speechless.

Florence gave him a little nudge and walked forward as she spread her arms like a child showing off her secret base "Tadaa~! I call it the Brandon Room."

He blinked as he snapped out of his shock "You... made this for me?"

"All for you, my sweet boy. I had this entire wing remodeled," she said proudly.

Brandon slowly walked forward and stepped up to one of the holographic tables and waved his hand as the interface shimmered, displaying dozens of game libraries, training simulators, and immersive worlds.

"This must have cost a fortune..." he murmured.

Florence laughed brightly "Oh, please. What’s a few billion when it comes to you?"

He turned to her and his gaze softened in affection "Thank you, Florence."

She stepped closer, gently cupping his cheek with her palm "You don’t need to thank me, sweetheart. Just enjoy it. And visit me more often, hmm?"

Brandon smiled and gave a nod "I will."

With a grin, she pulled him to the center of the room where a dual holographic console floated.

"Let’s play."

She sat on the couch before kicking off her heels and curled her legs beneath her like a girl half her age.

Brandon quickly sat beside her to enjoy a game.

He selected a popular two-player game from the main interface, a fast-paced, semi-competitive platformer with elements of co-op storytelling and chaotic physics-based puzzles.

As the virtual environment loaded around them, they were immersed in a glowing landscape of floating islands, shifting platforms, and bright colored magical creatures.

The shared UI responded to their movement as both their avatars materialized.

A small, fairy-like creature for Florence and a heavily armored knight for Brandon.

The console vibrated gently, syncing to their pulses.

With a soft flick of her fingers, Florence took the lead as her avatar glided to the front.

"Try to keep up, sweetie," she teased and winked at him as her in-game character jumped over a spinning platform.

Brandon smiled and leaned back, immediately setting his knight into motion "Alright. Just don’t cry when I leave you behind."

"Ha! You wish."

They raced through the first zone, jumping and dodging through the traps.

Florence would occasionally pull his arm mid-action, trying to get him to mistime his jumps, and he countered by grabbing her hand and deliberately steering her character into in-game pitfalls.

At one point, Florence reached for a power-up, but Brandon quickly snatched it first.

"Brandon! You greedy boy!"

He laughed and leaned in, bumping her shoulder with his. "Finders keepers."

Florence narrowed her eyes "See, what I am going to do to you."

She activated her in-game fairy’s special move right in front of him, casting a trap that briefly froze his knight in place.

"Wha- Hey! That’s cheating!"

Florence giggled like a schoolgir "Nope. It’s called using my feminine wiles."

He leaned toward her again and raised his hand to poke her side gently "Is this part of your tactics too?"

Florence flinched and squeaked, swatting his hand away as she laughed "Don’t you dare. I’m ticklish."

"Oh, really?" he grinned wickedly, inching his fingers closer again.

"No- Brandon, don’t—!"

Too late.

He jabbed her side, causing her to yelp and squirm in the seat as she kicked her legs slightly, grabbing his arm for support.

"W-Wait... no, Brandon... Hahaha... OHH!! WAIT!"

The couch shifted with their movements, and for a moment, her body pressed warmly against his as her laughter muffled against his chest.

As their characters fumbled around on the screen, Florence looked up at him, taking short breaths, and her face is brightly flushed with a pink hue.

"What a naughty son..." she said teasingly, poking him in the chest.

Her hand is resting lightly on his chest, with his arm still around her waist from the earlier wrestling match.

Her sweet lilac and cedarwood perfume hit his senses, and he leaned closer to her neck "You smell very nice..."

Florence was quite embarrassed by his compliment "Thank you, I guess?"

Realizing what he said, Brandon’s eyes widened slightly and he looked away. "Was that weird?" he muttered awkwardly.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to sniff you or anything..."

She laughed softly and gave his arm a small pat. "It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s cute actually. You’re too honest sometimes."

With a playful smile, she tilted her head "Well, now if you let this old lady go, we can play again or we going to play while cuddling like this?"

Brandon leaned forward even closer "That doesn’t seem like a bad idea."

She raised her hand and pinched his cheek "Bad boy."

With a chuckle, he pulled back to sit straightly and took his console "Come on, let’s finish this level."

She straightened her body and nodded her head "Yeah, let’s go."

---

They walked slowly down the corridor of the Bleaufort mansion.

She is still hugging his arm with her fingers intertwined with his and though he was used to being so pampered, her maternal warmth made it feel natural.

As they turned the corner, Florence smiled "Are you ready for another surprise?"

"Another surprise?" Brandon asked with a wry smile. "Should I be worried?"

She giggled "You’ll love this one, I promise. I recently heard something..."

She leaned in closer and whispered "About your hobby."

Brandon blinked in confusion "My... hobby?"

Without elaborating, she pulled him toward a door at the end of the hallway.

Florence turned the handle, and slowly pushed it open.

The scent of fresh sea air flooded the corridor.

Brandon stepped in and his eyes widened in amazement.

It was a large, sun-drenched room enclosed by curved glass walls that arched into a semi-dome, giving a panoramic view of the sea below.

The sky outside was painted with warm hues of late afternoon, casting golden reflections over the wooden floor.

The centerpiece of the room was a large, beautifully crafted drawing table set at an angle, flanked by shelves of premium art supplies... charcoal sticks, graphite pencils, watercolor palettes, ink sets, acrylics, and every imaginable type of paper and canvas.

Multiple adjustable desk lamps hung from the ceiling, and a few spotlights were placed for late-night sketching.

On the side, there is a cozy corner with a plush armchair and an easel already standing by the window with a blank paper.

Florence watched him carefully as he stepped in.

"I didn’t want it to feel like some cold studio," she said softly, stepping up beside him.

"I asked the designers to make it feel... intimate. A place where your mind could breathe."

Brandon slowly walked in and turned to look at her in amazement "This looks... amazing."

Pleased to see his reaction, a warmth bloomed in her heart knowing that her efforts are not wasted.

"Mhm."

Brandon walked toward the easel by the window, caressing his fingers across the blank canvas "I don’t even know what to say."

Florence walked up behind him and gently placed her hand on his back "You don’t need to say anything, sweetheart. Just... draw. This is your space."

He turned around and gently pulled her into a warm hug.

She was a little surprise but then she held him back just as tightly, her hand stroking the back of his hair.

"Thank you, Florence," he whispered.

She smiled against his shoulder "You’ve already given me so much more just by being in my life, Brandon. Let me spoil you a little too."

They remained like that for a while, hugging each other tightly.

Finally, Brandon pulled back and stepped toward the desk, picking up a pencil.

He grabbed a loose sheet of paper and sat down, glancing over his shoulder "You’re staying to model for me, right?"

She laughed, lifting the hem of her dress slightly "Oh, darling. You have no idea what you’re asking for."

"Just watch my pose."
