Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 33: I am Riane
Chapter 33: I am Riane
Steven looked at the empty place, his eyebrows furrowed.
He recalled that Alex had suddenly sent out a distress signal a while ago when he was working. If Alex’s custom-made watch received a significant impact or was forcibly removed from his wrist, Steven would receive his location automatically.
It indicated that Alex was in danger.
But there was no sign of Alex anywhere, which made Steven even more worried.
Zane quickly checked around but found nothing unusual.
"Mr. Lawrence, we’ve checked everywhere. The young master isn’t here, but I found this."
He handed Steven Alex’s watch, which he had accidentally thrown away and left behind.
Just as Steven took the watch, his phone suddenly rang.
It was Sam, the Lawrence family’s butler.
Steven picked up the call, with Emma’s cheerful little face on the other end.
"Daddy! When will you be back? I miss you so much~"
Steven’s furrowed eyebrows instantly relaxed, grateful that his child was safe.
Zane also sighed in relief.
"So the young master was at home. I was in such a rush to get here that I completely forgot to check with Butler Sam."
Emma was curious. "What happened, Daddy?"
Zane wanted to continue discussing the alarm from the watch, but Steven stopped him with a glance.
Steven looked at Emma. "There’s nothing. Daddy will be back soon."
Emma’s happy eyes narrowed into crescent shapes.
"Great~"
After hanging up, Zane asked in confusion, "Mr. Lawrence, why didn’t we just ask the young master about the watch?"
Steven’s eyes gradually darkened.
"The enemy is in the shadows, and we’re in the open. If they managed to get Alex’s watch quietly, they’re probably not that simple. I don’t want Alex to worry too much.
"Increase security around Alex from now on."
Zane nodded seriously. "Understood."
In the hospital room, Alex was enjoying an overwhelming sense of happiness as Cecilia remained by his side, caring for him without leaving for a moment.
If being sick meant she would be with him forever, he wouldn’t feel bad about falling sick in the future.
"Mommy, I love you. You’re the best mom in the world."
Cecilia gently touched Alex’s head, her voice tender.
"Mommy loves Emma too. Emma is the best daughter in the world."
The two hugged each other.
Unbeknownst to Alex, a cold and ruthless determination was quietly hardening in Cecilia’s eyes.
She had to find out who on earth had hurt Emma and make them wish they were dead!
Alex felt fine after two days in the hospital, but Cecilia insisted on him staying a bit longer, which bored him.
Suddenly, he remembered that his great-grandma Marianne lived in this hospital.
A few days ago, Emma told him about how Uncle Nathan had been making trouble for their Dad. She also mentioned that Marianne’s condition was worsening, which worried her a lot.
Taking advantage of this chance, it’d be great if Cecilia could visit Marianne. This way, Marianne might recover, and Steven would also view Cecilia differently.
He had almost forgotten about this plan due to the recent incident.
Thinking of this, he quickly sent an email to his mom.
[Please visit the patient in the presidential ward as Riane. Afterward, I’ll give you information about your son’s location.]
At this moment, Cecilia was discussing Emma’s condition with Evan in his office.
Evan had been planning to return abroad, but when Cecilia’s daughter got sick again, he decided to stay in the country for a longer time—at least until Cecilia found her lost child so they could leave together.
‘I’m like my idol’s emergency kit,’ he mused narcissistically.
Cecilia received Alex’s email, frowning.
‘Another anonymous email, again?’
After thinking for a while, she decided to visit the presidential ward.
It wasn’t too far, after all.
After bidding goodbye to Evan, she turned to head to the presidential ward.
Why did the person at the ward door look so familiar?
It was Zane, Steven’s assistant. freёnovelkiss.com
Seeing him clearly, Cecilia smoothly turned to leave via the elevator.
So, was the patient there related to Steven Lawrence?
If so, she didn’t want to get involved.
Inside the elevator, two doctors were whispering.
"Madam Lawrence in the presidential ward might not hold on much longer."
Cecilia was a bit surprised.
So, the patient was Steven’s grandmother.
"To endure for so long after developing throat cancer is quite remarkable already. It’s a pity Mr. Lawrence couldn’t find Riane for her."
’Throat cancer? Looking for me?’
"Indeed, Madam Lawrence’s only wish is to meet Riane. I hope she can depart peacefully."
"I heard that Mr. Lawrence has also been facing some trouble recently. The second-in-line from the Lawrences has been causing issues at the hospital several times, wanting to kick that illegitimate child out of the family. It seems even wealthy families can’t avoid such troubles."
After speaking, the two doctors left, leaving Cecilia to digest the information she had just heard alone in the elevator.
’Steven’s grandmother had throat cancer, and her only wish is to see me?’
No wonder he’d been searching for me everywhere.
Plus, about that child...
Thinking of the child being belittled in a prestigious family made her heart ache slightly.
Never mind; she might as well go up and take a look.
If she could truly help that child and also receive information about her son, then her identity as Riane didn’t matter much.
Returning to the presidential ward, she made up her mind and approached Zane.
"I am Riane..."
