Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 70: Arleston
Chapter 70: Arleston
Steven had been maneuvering in Star City for many years, having long been a figure feared by everyone in the city.
Forget about offending him; one must even be cautious around anyone from the Lawrence family.
This latest threat couldn’t just be a coincidence. Perhaps it was related to the incident with Alex’s watch last time, so it was imperative to investigate everything thoroughly.
"She is no ordinary person..."
Ethan still wanted to advise him against asking further, but Steven was more determined.
"Identity."
Ethan sighed.
"She is your daughter."
‘Go tell her off; go ahead and see if you can do it.’
Steven was stunned for a moment before he realized.
"Ethan, I think you must really have too much free time nowadays, seeing how you can prank me like this."
Ethan felt miserable inside. ‘See? I told you, but you don’t believe me at all. Oh heavens, who can save me...’
"You’ve graduated for a while now, and the hotel’s operational system is already well-established. There’s nothing more for you to learn there.
"I recently bought a piece of land on the outskirts of the city, so I’ll hand it over to you to manage. The revenue should reach one million a month..."
Ethan’s head started to ache as he listened.
"Brother, you know that in business, I..."
"It’s a racing project."
The words ‘not very good at’ had barely reached his lips before Ethan forcefully swallowed them back.
"Brother!"
Seeing Ethan so excited, Steven felt a bit relieved.
All these years, he never knew how to arrange a business that was suitable for Ethan. He knew Ethan loved racing, but he always thought it was too dangerous and continuously refused to let him venture into that field.
But in reality, while Ethan managed the hotel superficially well, it was clear he wasn’t happy with it. This might also be why he maintained an image of not taking things seriously.
Therefore, Steven bought a piece of land and entrusted it to Ethan for a bold attempt.
Seeing the light in Ethan’s eyes, Steven felt like his decision was right.
He cleared his throat.
"Don’t forget, it’s one million a month. Don’t lose to a kid this time; it’s embarrassing..."
Ethan pursed his lips, thinking, ‘If you knew that kid’s identity, you probably wouldn’t think that way.’
He nodded.
"I guarantee to accomplish the mission!"
Cecilia didn’t wake up until nearly noon, noticing that Emma was missing as soon as she woke up.
She called Emma and learned that her daughter had gone out to buy a cake, which reassured her a bit.
Then, she called Elena.
"Aunt, I want to ask you about school registration. I’m planning to enroll Emma."
Although the school issue had been resolved, there were still some other things she didn’t quite understand. Thus, she thought it would be better to ask someone.
Elena spared no time in replying.
"Bring Emma over here tonight. I’ll explain it to you in detail."
"Alright."
In the evening, Cecilia drove Emma to Elena’s house.
Elena and James had already prepared a large table of dishes, only waiting for Cecilia and Emma.
However, there were also two other people at the dining table: Mary and her daughter, Alice.
Alice was wearing a pretty princess dress, eating a small piece of cake gracefully.
Upon seeing the cake, Emma’s eyes lit up. She scooped out a large piece of the cake with a spoon, stuffing it into her mouth without even using a fork.
Watching Emma devour the food, Mary felt a sense of disdain.
‘This girl is like a country bumpkin; has she never seen a cake before.’
On the other hand, Elena looked at Emma affectionately.
"It’s time for her to go to school. By the way, Cecilia, have you decided which school to choose?"
Cecilia wiped her mouth.
"Arleston International School."
She had always focused on kindergartens in the past, but this particular school spanned from kindergarten through middle school—a key reason why Cecilia chose it.
Since Emma was already much smarter than her peers and already had kindergarten-level knowledge, and she might feel she had nothing in common with other kindergarteners, Cecilia wouldn’t mind letting Emma get to know older students.
This could be better for her development.
Mary was the first to gasp.
"What? Arleston? Are you daydreaming?"
Elena hesitated as well.
"That school is notoriously hard to get into, but it is indeed a good one. I was thinking of sending Emma there, so I asked around and tried to secure an interview opportunity."
Cecilia felt touched, not even having the chance to thank her yet, before Mary interrupted.
"Aunt! Didn’t you say you had secured an interview spot for Alice? So now, you’re securing it for her instead?"
Elena replied, "I have some acquaintance with Director Winston of that school. I heard about the special brooches he has; tomorrow, you and Cecilia will visit Director Winston’s home to try and secure two interview slots."
Though unwilling, Mary had to obey Elena’s words as she muttered reluctantly, "God, I can’t believe you managed to get such good help."
Elena then turned to Cecilia and said, "This is all Auntie can help you with."
Cecilia slowly took a piece of salad, nonchalantly saying, "I don’t need the interview slot."
Hearing this, everyone froze for a moment.
Before Elena could inquire what she meant, her phone suddenly rang.
Frank’s angry voice came through, "Cecilia, you’re definitely not my real daughter!"
