Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 622: Axis’s Excitement
"What?" Shane paused for a moment as he saw the Bloodpact Contract. It doesn't seem that important with the current situation of the world, but he might be able to use it…
After all, he wasn't sure if there was another enemy like Statham roaming the Apocalypse World. Perhaps, capturing them and using this powerful contract would help him know more about the situation of this world.
He doesn't want to admit it, but even after having several lives and experiencing multiple Apocalypses, he was still unsure about the perfect end or clear for this Apocalypse.
He could no longer turn back time as the bracelet that his Grandfather Merlin gave to him had already lost its power.
"I have to end this Zombie Apocalypse and get the best possible reward…" He muttered to himself.
Soon, Shane purchased most of the items in the Reputation Store. Although he still had thousands of them, he didn't want to use them all at once since the Reputation Points could also affect the number of merchants that visited his shelters.
"This is a good haul, I guess..." Shane muttered as he confirmed that the items he bought weren't something that would be wasted at all.
Later, he would distribute some of the items he didn't need to be given to those who would be able to use them properly.
For now, however, he believed that Axis had been waiting for him already. More than 10 days had already passed since he entered the Fairy Realm. He was three days late and felt that he should visit her now.
[ Do you wish to activate the Title's Effect? ] The system prompt inquired.
"Yes." Shane affirmed.
[ You will be transported to the Fairy Realm. The duration will be 12 hours.
Just like that, the fabric of space seemed to twist and warp around him…
Just as the message said, he was being transported and it was through some enigmatic form of spatial sorcery.
Whom~
A sudden disorienting darkness engulfed his senses, which made him dizzy for a second...
When he finally reopened his eyes, a vast meadow stretched out before him… From afar, he saw a mountain range and a forest, and signs of life were also detected…
Behind him, on the other hand, was the World Tree, the Mana Lake, the crop fields, the warehouse, and others.
"Feels good to be back…"
The scent of blooming flowers, rich earth, and crisp water filled his lungs. It was such a relaxing atmosphere.
Soon, a tiny streak of light zipped toward him, stopping just inches from his nose.
"Lord Shane! You're back!"
Fairy Axis, no taller than his palm, fluttered excitedly. Although there were already several living creatures here, including the World Tree, she still couldn't help but look for Shane every time.
"Yes… I'll be here for a few more hours." Shane said as he confirmed that he now had 12 hours of access to the Fairy Realm instead of just eight.
He then noticed that Axis's tiny hands clutched a miniature clipboard made of birch bark, filled with scribbled notes.
Shane smirked. "Did you miss me, Axis?"
"No! Yes! Maybe a little!" She twirled in the air, then suddenly recalled to make her report. "Oh! The mutant vegetables are now ready! And the mystery seeds! And the—"
"Slow down…" Shane chuckled, following her as she darted toward the fields.
He had previously bought Mutant Vegetables Seeds and gave some of them to Axis while the others were given to the farmers in the shelter.
[ Random Mutant Vegetable Seeds: A total of 50 Seeds from vegetables that have adapted to the new world. They grow quickly and are unusually nutritious.
Quantity: 5 pouches ]
Three pouches were given to Axis while the two were given to the Farmers in Springriver Manor.
Right now, the plots of land near the World Tree have transformed into a dreamlike garden.
The mutant seeds Shane had grown into bizarre, yet bountiful crops under Axis's care.
However, after taking care of them axis only found four really good seeds that she had decided to multiply... Once she was able to harvest them after three days or so, she actually planted their seeds or roots again to harvest more.
One of them was Razorleaf Cabbage.
It was a dense, spiral-headed cabbage with sharp edges, just like what its name suggests.
[ Razorleaf Cabbage: Aside from being nutritious for a meal, its leaves could be dried and sharpened into throwing discs. ]
"Hmm?" Shane raised his eyebrows as he saw the description…
Then, it was at this time that Axis demonstrated by flinging one sharpened leaf at a nearby stone…
Thud!
It stuck like a shuriken and Shane couldn't help but feel impressed...
"Huh. It's edible when cooked but lethal when dried?"
It was such an interesting plant.
The next was the Glowroot Carrots. It was a vibrant orange carrot but it seemed like it was bioluminescent as well.
[ Glowroot Carrots: When about 150 grams of carrot are eaten, it grants temporary night vision that lasts 1 hour. ]
'We already have potions and devices for night vision… But I guess it's good to have another option.' Shane mused.
The third one was called Thunderbolt Peppers.
Axis showed the peppers they were small, red peppers, and looked really normal.
[ Thunderbolt Peppers: When consumed, they give fresh breath and clean the mouth. ]
"…" Shane wasn't sure what to think of this pepper.
Although it wasn't really an awesome effect, it doesn't have to do something aside from tasting better.
He didn't really mind if they didn't have any effects at all.
After all, they were just ingredients for the cooks in the shelter.
However, seeing that Axis looked so excited presenting all the harvests she made, Shane still showed his appreciation…
"This looks good… Brushing teeth is now easier than ever." Shane commented as he decided to eat one.
Lastly, there were Ironhide Pumpkins. They were thick-skinned, metallic-gray pumpkins that clanged when tapped.
Indeed, it was like a metal and Shane wasn't sure if this was a good idea. The chefs wouldn't like this. They'd need better knives and higher strength stats to deal with this.
[ Ironhide Pumpkins: Very nutritious pumpkins. Their Hollowed-out shells could be used as improvised armor plating. ] ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
"A pumpkin that's not just for decoration, huh… Alright…" Shane commented.
Axis hovered proudly. "I talked to them every day! Well, except for the peppers. They're rude..."
Shane wasn't sure about the last part, but since she was a fairy, it wasn't really surprising if she said that.
"Right… What about those seven seeds?" Shane asked.
Shane recalled the purchase he made before.
[ Mysterious Seed Pouch: A small pouch containing seven seeds, each of which grows into a unique plant over the course of 7 days. The plants can be harvested for useful items, such as healing herbs, explosive fruit, or zombie-repelling flowers.
Price: 200 Zombie Cores
Quantity: 1 ]
He had almost forgotten about them but nonetheless, he knew that Axis had most likely grown them into a collection of peculiar plants.
"Ohhh~ Follow me, Lord Survivor!"
Axis fluttered excitedly to a corner near the small warehouse.
Soon, Shane saw the seven peculiar plants that had sprouted from the Mysterious Seeds Shane had given her.
Each was unlike anything found in the mortal world—strange, wondrous, and others even seemed dangerous.
"Lord! Look what grew!" Axis zipped between the plants, while her tiny hands gestured grandly.
Without hesitation, Shane used the system's appraisal to understand them.
[ Emberbloom Rose: A deep crimson flower with petals that moved like tiny flames.
Effect: When plucked, the petals could be ground into "Sunfire Powder"—a substance that ignited upon impact, perfect for fire arrows or Molotovs. ]
"This one sings every morning!" Axis commented as she saw Shane touching the plant.
"It's a beautiful rose…" Shane added before turning to the second one.
[ Thornbrow Vine: A barbed, serpentine vine that coiled around nearby structures.
Effect: Its thorns secrete a paralytic toxin—dip weapons in it for 10 seconds of slowed enemies. ]
"It really doesn't like being touched. I named it 'Grumpy.'" Axis commented, which made Shane chuckle a bit.
After this, Shane read the details of the Moonbell Cap, Stormroot Sapling, Whisperthistle, Thick Melon, and the Very Black Flower.
[ Moonbell Cap: A luminescent mushroom that smells good.
Effect: When consumed, it grants +20% attack speed and increases the zombie detection range for an hour. ]
***
[ Stormroot Sapling: A small tree with electrifying leaves. ]
Effect: Its fruit were natural EMP grenades—disrupting electronics and stunning cybernetic zombies. ]
***
[ Whisperthistle: A delicate, silver-bladed grass that swayed without wind.
Effect: When burned, its smoke could cause hallucinations. ]
***
[ Thick Melon: A metallic-skinned fruit that weighed as much as a cannonball.
Effect: Its peel could be forged into lightweight armor, and its juice temporarily hardened skin ( +15% damage resistance for 5 minutes )
***
[ Very Black Flower: A pitch-black flower that eats waste.
Effect: It releases a zombie-repelling pheromone cloud from time to time ( 30ft radius, lasts 10 minutes ). ]
"Now this is a flower worth planting outside the walls." Shane muttered.
