Chapter 161: Regarding the 128 Chapters of Legendary Golden Dragon, the Dragon reveals its holiness_2
Opposite to this, Noah entered into a relatively calm life.
His daily life, apart from checking on the battle reports from the Elidis Mountain range, involved keeping an eye on the situation of the elf half-dragons, but there were basically no problems, except for occasionally having to mediate conflicts between the Bronze Dragons and the Red Dragons.
Even though a distance was deliberately maintained when they were settled, the unrestricted movement ranges of both the young Red Dragons and Bronze Dragons eventually led them to clash, and unsurprisingly, they got into a fight.
However, because they were aware of each other’s identities, neither side engaged in a life-or-death battle, but they fought quite fiercely. The Bronze Dragons had an advantage in age and numbers, but the Red Dragons had collected quite a few monster familiars. Therefore, when the conflict broke out, neither side could gain an upper hand, and they were evenly matched.
For Noah, this was naturally considered a minor squabble among juveniles, so he instructed the giants to pay a bit of attention but not to intervene, as long as no dragon lives were lost.
The one thing that truly required Noah’s attention and effort to maintain was the Gemology Society. Gathering so many young dragons into a society, even if it wasn’t mandatory, was something Noah deemed worth his attention.
Perhaps it’s nothing now, but what about three hundred years from now, or six hundred years, or even a thousand years? What kind of power and influence would those dragons who lived to that time possess? What a formidable force that would be!
Noah didn’t know, but he wanted to see.
Perhaps a thousand years later, less than half of the Gemology Society members would still be alive, but wherever they were, they would unquestionably be famous.
Don’t underestimate such relations. Many mortals have a misconception about the Dragon Clan, thinking that dragons are deadly attached to wealth and that one could make dragons do anything as long as they pay enough.
As if paying money could bring in the support of the Dragon Clan at any time and place, which is a very ignorant and narrow-minded misconception.
Hiring the help of the Dragon Clan indeed requires substantial payment, but conversely, the causal relationship doesn’t hold; spending a lot doesn’t necessarily secure the aid of the dragons.
For dragons to intervene, besides being paid, they also have to consider the relationship between the parties. In rare circumstances, the Metallic Dragon Race might even refuse payment and still get things done.
At critical moments in certain events, being able to spend money is the real skill, often finding that even with money, there’s no one available to spend it on.
Thus, Noah placed great importance on maintaining relationships with young dragons, but no matter how the relationships were maintained, one must consider the dragons’ sense of time. Gem-appreciation gatherings should not be too frequent, between three months to six months, or even once a year is acceptable.
However, in the early stages of the society’s establishment, Noah held gatherings quite frequently, once every three months, to deeply embed his position as president into the Dragon Heart, making all the dragons on this land recognize his leadership in certain areas.
This was very important and counted as Noah preparing in advance for some things he wanted to do in the future.
"There’s news!"
At the second Dragon Clan gathering, besides the theme of the meeting, which was gemstone appreciation, the young metallic dragons were sharing the information they had collected because news had come from afar.
Under the leadership of the Ancient Silver Dragon Naberius, the Cadia Duchy associated with the Silver Dragon Raphael’s demise was confirmed to be annihilated.
Even though the founder of the Duchy, a Legend, claimed to be completely uninvolved and unaware of the incident, he still suffered execution by the Dragon Group, unable to escape fate.
Not only were this duke and his country retaliated against because of this incident, but a considerably vast area in the continent’s northwest region, where the Cadia Duchy was located, saw all organizations related to the intelligence involved thoroughly purged.
This affected far too many nations and local forces, so much so that a Legend pressured by these events emerged to exert pressure on the Dragon Group, making even the Ancient Silver Dragon Naberius somewhat overwhelmed.
However, when the Dragon Group appeared cornered, an ordinary old dragon inadvertently displayed its legendary might, quickly dissipating the pressure the Dragon Group was subjected to, and silencing all voices of dissent against the Dragon Group on that land, for that was a Golden Dragon.
"Legendary Golden Dragon, Aletos!"
Noah learned the name of the old dragon displaying legendary power at the gathering.
Undoubtedly, he was a very powerful elder of the same lineage, but Noah found it challenging to feel any sense of respect for this elder.
"This old dragon has made a spectacle of himself in front of his peers, an outrageous show-off!"
It’s well known that Golden Dragons, in fact, the entire Metallic Dragon Race, love to transform into weak human forms to relish the stunned expressions of mortals when they reveal their true forms. They delight in such gazes, which brings them immense pleasure.
Among them, the Golden and Silver Dragons are particularly exceptional, especially the Golden Dragons, who are most obsessed with this, sometimes deliberately engineering events to boost their image in front of mortals.
Doing good deeds without leaving a name doesn’t exist for Golden Dragons; when they do great things, they must announce it worldwide, hoping even the Divine would know.
Noah never expected that amidst a revenge-oriented Dragon Group, such an old dragon would sneak in and put on a show in front of his kind.
Of course, it might be possible that he had an agreement with other dragons. Nonetheless, it didn’t stop Noah from venting a line to the female Golden Dragon beside him,
"Aletos is my great-grandfather."
"Uh!"
Noah was immediately speechless,
"Sorry, I misspoke."
Making fun of elders isn’t a big deal, but saying such things in front of their direct descendants is quite rude, so Noah quickly adjusted his attitude.
"It’s okay. I actually quite agree with your assessment."
Agnes smiled and then, reminding Noah of her identity, continued chatting and laughing with him,
"During my travels with my great-grandfather, I often found myself troubled by this. Clearly, he’s nearly 800 years old, yet he enjoys showing off just as much as we young dragons do, basking in the spotlight."
"Actually, I understand why your great-grandfather acts the way he does. Instead of the awe and admiration of mortals, captivating the attention of the Dragon Group is far rarer."
Noah went with the flow,
"If I ever get the chance, I’d like to experience that feeling too."
"You certainly will have the chance."
"Are you so optimistic about me?"
"You are an Ancestor Dragon after all!"
Agnes chuckled, pointing to the dragon wings on the young man’s back, even though Noah was in human form at the gathering, revealing some of his dragon features. Many dragons did the same, but Noah was quite noticeable. After all, his dragon wings were exceptionally unique.
Noah displayed his dragon wings not out of any ulterior motives but because he sought more peers who could appreciate their beauty. Unfortunately, his father disapproved of his wings, which had always deeply upset him.
"What do you think of my dragon wings?"
"They’re the most beautiful dragon wings I’ve ever seen!"
Agnes provided Noah with the highest emotional satisfaction.
"You have the best taste of any dragon I’ve met."
Noah knew part of the compliment was out of politeness, but who cared; he enjoyed hearing these flattering words.
"Just the best taste? Am I not the most beautiful dragon you’ve ever met?"
The woman with platinum hair, resembling a noble lady of the royal family, tilted her head and chuckled,
"I would love to praise you that way, but doing so would earn the ire of other beautiful ladies. So, for my safety, please allow me to be a bit cautious."
Noah paused slightly, looking around the gathering, noticing quite a few dragons casting glances their way, then shifted his tone,
"You are the most beautiful female Golden Dragon I’ve ever seen."
