Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 854: Mana Density
Chapter 854: Mana Density
Hudson and Kenley made their way through the cobbled streets of Constantine, their expressions riddled with hints of nervousness and excitement.
Wherever they went, the residents of the town greeted them with a jovial smile.
The two, as well as the rest of the members of the Brotherhood, had been stationed here for years. As such, they had already taken on several cover jobs and throughly blended in the locals.
Kenley worked as an adventurer, hunting down criminals or magical beasts and monsters for a fee.
Hudson, on the other hand, worked as a librarian. He, along with several members of the clandestine organization, operated the Constantine Public Library.
It didn’t take them long to arrive near the ash tree. On the way, several Acolytes of the Brotherhood informed them of Adam’s location.
So when they arrived, they immediately found the raven-haired young man sitting at an outdoor table of a tea stall.
He had a thoughtful expression on his face while his gaze was directed at the ash tree.
Hudson and Kenley suddenly stopped in their footsteps. They blinked. Then, they exchanged glances and saw the shock in each other’s eyes.
Adam was vastly different from how they expected him to be.
The last time they saw him, he looked like a young man with an unremarkable appearance, easily lost in a crowd.
But now... his appearance was striking! He looked far more dashing than before, almost heroic. His facial features were sharp and refined, as if carved by a master sculptor himself.
As he sat quietly, sipping warm tea from the ceramic cup, he exuded a scholarly aura. His eyes were calm, and his presence was serene, like someone contemplating the mysteries of the stars.
Hudson was the most shocked. After all, he had seen Adam when he had just advanced to the Mana Liquefaction Rank and arrived at Acryon.
For his appearance to change so drastically, he couldn’t help but wonder just what kind of magic he must have cast on himself.
I had heard rumors that the further a Magus advanced in the arcane ranks, the more impurities were shed from the body, he thought.
This, in turn, allowed them to enhance their physical appearance, but... I’ve heard that these changes are only minuscule.
That would explain why there are so many powerful, ugly Magi around.
So, how was the Dark King able to...
His thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt as the raven-haired youth set the cup down on the table and calmly turned toward him with a faint smile.
Hudson’s body involuntarily trembled.
Shit!
He cursed inwardly.
I’ve been staring at him for far too long!
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and hurriedly made his way towards the tea stall with Kenley in tow.
Making sure not to draw any attention from the nearby residents, since most of them knew him, Kenley walked up to Adam’s table, laughing nervously.
"Haha, w-welcome to Constantine."
Of course, he was stiff in his actions. Very stiff.
He was in the presence of the Dark King, after all. The young man may appear calm, scholarly, and harmless at the moment, but Hudson knew just how terrifying he could be.
After all, he was able to slaughter several Mana Vortex Rank beings shortly after advancing to that station himself.
Adam couldn’t help but let out a light chuckle. He gestured to the empty chairs. "Sit."
Hudson and Kenley awkwardly sat down. Both of them had their backs drenched in sweat. They couldn’t even remember the last time they were so nervous.
Adam noticed this. He couldn’t help but shake his head slightly. With a wave of his hand, he conjured a wine gourd and two flat cups. Then, he poured the two a drink.
"Go ahead," he said calmly. "No need to be so tense."
The two members of the Brotherhood glanced at the wine cups. They hesitated for a second before downing the wine in one go.
"So, how have you been, Hudson?" Adam asked with a faint smile. Then, he turned to the other person. "And Kenley."
He remembers my name! Kenley was screaming inwardly.
Realizing that apart from his apperance, Adam hadn’t changed all that much, Hudson felt gratified. "We have been well, my lord."
He paused for a moment before asking, "And you?"
"Well, you know." Adam shrugged, lightly chuckling to himself. "Life goes on."
He turned his attention towards the ash tree and asked, his tone slightly shifting, "So... the mana density has increased, eh?"
Hudson was slightly startled at how confident Adam was. He was prepared to hand him all the information and research data, but it turned out that that was unnecessary.
"Yes, my lord," he said softly.
Unable to hide the excitement in his voice, he couldn’t help but ask, "Where did you find this tree, my lord? And... do you have more?"
Adam chuckled in amusement. "Would you believe me if I told you it was just a regular seed of an ash tree that I’d planted all those years ago?"
Of course, Hudson wouldn’t believe such a thing. But he also couldn’t say that directly. Thus, he remained quiet.
Adam’s gaze grew distant. "I’m still trying to comprehend the mysteries of this ash tree," he said.
He turned to Hudson with a faint smile. "But what I can tell you is... this is only the beginning."
He paused, his smile deepening. "The mana density here will only continue to rise."
Hudson’s body trembled in astonishment. And Kenley? He had long since lost the ability to form a coherent word.
After a few moments, Hudson snapped back to his senses. "My Lord, you... Are you certain?!"
Adam shrugged, turning his gaze back to the ash tree. "Pretty certain."
After all, he had already confirmed that this ash tree had been blessed by the Great Mother.
Otherwise, the mana density in this region wouldn’t have increased in the first place. It was simply beyond comprehension!
As for why the Great Mother had blessed this tree, Adam did not know. Maybe one day he’d find the answer, or maybe he wouldn’t.
But for now, what mattered was clear: the ash tree was undenbiably increasing the mana density in the region.
Of course, he wasn’t going to explain his speculations to Hudson. Instead, he was curious about something else. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
He turned towards the middle-aged man with an arched eyebrow.
"So, why haven’t you shared this valuable information with the higher-ups?"
