Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 866: Good Deal
Chapter 866: Good Deal
Earlier in the grand dining hall, after Mikar had gotten separated from his other classmates, he made his way towards the buffet station.
Deciding it would be better to enjoy the freshly cooked food rather than worrying about finding his friends, he did exactly that. And that’s when he met Edward.
Mikar was a likeable and sociable fellow. He immediately hit it off with the blue-eyed young man from the Tower of Daybreak.
Afterwards, Edward even introduced him to his other friends, who had all gathered at the gazebo, drinking fine wine beneath the twin moons.
And just like that, Mikar got acquainted with Edward.
After the students from Coral Cove and Grenfield Ridge had introduced themselves, they were welcomed to sit inside the gazebo and enjoy the evening together.
Chris glanced at Mikar talking to Edward and Biden like they were old friends, and couldn’t help but wonder in bewilderment, Just what the hell has this bastard been up to?
I thought he got lost and started chomping on food?
But it looks like... he was socializing instead!
Meanwhile, I...
He turned his attention towards Kahn, who was chatting with Atiel.
Meanwhile, I got stuck with that bastard! And what is he doing? Is he trying to woo the pretty elf? And what’s with that guy beside her? They look similar.
His gaze shifted to Daneli, who was sitting beside Atiel, glancing at Kahn with a cold gaze.
Twins? He wondered.
Suddenly, his friend Mikar’s excited words rang in his ears, drawing his attention immediately.
"So, tell me, how was it like studying under the Dark King?" Mikar’s blue eyes seemed to be flashing like the brightest of stars.
After all, the name of the Dark King had become synonymous with the ideal Magus, who every person who walked on the arcane path strived to become.
The Dark King had countless admirers throughout the Ulier Continent—most of them young Magi, of course.
And the only people who disliked him were either his enemies or people who were deeply envious of him. But these people paled in comparison to the sheer number of people who showered him with love, affection, and admiration.
Hearing about their mentor instantly made the three young Magi’s faces light up.
Arthur raised his chin ever so slightly and answered with pride, "Hehe, what can I say? Mentor’s teachings were very profound. He taught us things that even most Mana Vortex Magi wouldn’t know."
Eleiney couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her friend’s antics. She chimed in, "Did you forget how Mentor used to beat us for hours on end?"
Arthur’s expression froze, the pride flickering in his eyes instantly replaced by fear.
Of course... how could he forget those times when he simply wished to die rather than receive Adam’s thrashing?
Aiden’s lips curled up into an awkward smile. "Yeah... Mentor always said, the best way to learn something is to have it thoroughly beaten into your body."
"That sounds like him, alright," Lisa couldn’t help but let out an amused chuckle.
She paused for a moment, a gentle smile on her face and a reminiscent look in her eyes. "In fact, that’s exactly what he used to do to me and Eddie, back when we were still kids."
"Kahaha!" Edward laughed out loud, his face slightly flushed red from the wine. "Every time we sparred, Adam would always beat us like we owed him money or something."
Lisa smirked. "His face always looked like the whole world owed him money."
Kahn pointed at the couple with slight surprise and asked with an arched eyebrow, "You both are childhood friends of the Dark King?"
Lisa nodded with a faint smile. "Yes, the three of us went to the same Academy back in the Southern Federation."
She then gestured to the elven twins and added, "We’re all childhood friends, actually. And Daneli and Atiel’s mentor is close friends with Adam’s mentor."
"Adam’s mentor?!" Chris Cloud exclaimed. "What is he like? Don’t tell me... he’s a Mana Core Magus!"
Edward chuckled, shaking his head. "No, no, nothing like that. Old Man Berger is a Mana Vortex Magus. He taught Adam the art of Herbalism."
"Huh." Charlie Smith displayed a pondering look on his face. "It would seem that the Dark King really is young. I thought the rumors were false about him being thirty-five."
Daneli shook his head, his expression stoic as ever. "No, we’re all the same age. And by we, I mean my sister and I, Edward and Lisa, and finally Adam."
"Edward! Edward!" Mikar called out excitedly. "You must introduce me to the Dark King."
"Kahaha!" Edward proudly patted his chest. "Leave it to me!"
Despite several rounds of drinking, the wine barrel was still not empty. In fact, it would seem that the liquor would last a few more hours at the rate the Magi were drinking.
The night was young, and the stars shimmered above.
Selene and Luna hung in the sky, hidden behind the drifting clouds, as if quietly listening to the laughter and chatter below.
"Puah!" Mikar slammed the empty wine cup on the table and grinned. "This... is the best wine I’ve ever tasted!"
"I told you, hehe," Edward said slyly, refilling his cup.
Meanwhile, Chris was looking at his classmate with a flabbergasted expression.
Stop drinking so much, you idiot, He grumbled inwardly.
Or I’ll have to be the one to drag you back to the quarters!
Across the table, Kahn and Charlie glanced at each other, silently nodding. They figured it was about time they got down to business.
Now that everyone every one had introduced themselves and the atmosphere had warmed, it was time...
Kahn turned to Daneli and asked solemnly, "You’ll be participating in the tournament, yes?"
"Yes, what about it?" Asked the blond elf as he took a sip from the wine cup.
Kahn took a deep breath, carefully choosing his words. "I wonder if you know anything about the first trial."
Daneli’s eyes narrowed, then his lips formed a sly smirk. "Perhaps."
"How about we share information regarding the first trial, then?" Kahn did his best to curb his excitement.
He clapped a hand on Charlie’s shoulder and added, "Charlie here had gathered some crucial intel. I’m sure it will be helpful to you."
Kahn turned to the side, scanning everyone’s faces. "To all of you, in fact."
"So what do you say?" he turned back to the elf. "Sounds like a good deal, eh?"
Danel grinned from ear to ear, revealing a row of pearly white teeth.
"I refuse!"
