Her Rebirth.-Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Amelia followed blankly as Damien dragged her into one of Liavenne’s stores. Damien, feeling offended that she had refused to take his advice, took her to the store, wanting to show her his ’artistic prowess’ despite her warnings that they still had quite a lot of work to take care of. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Apparently, this Liavenne store was one dedicated solely to Damien’s designs. Inside the store, mannequins were draped in exquisite gowns, sleek tailored suits hung on racks, and accessories gleamed under the warm lighting. The entire store exuded sophistication.
Damien released her wrist and crossed his arms. "Take a good look, Amelia. This is what attention to detail creates."
Damien lifted his chin high, expecting her look of awe and for her to praise him, but all that came out from her lips was a simple, "Ohh."
Damien’s lips thinned as he stared at Amelia in disbelief. "Just ohh?"
Amelia nodded.
While she did admit that the store contained some very good designs, Damien was not going to get the awed expression he was expecting because she had seen far better designs than this as Amelia Volemont.
Besides, she did not feel like raising his already inflated ego.
Damien felt aggrieved and stupefied. No one had ever looked down on his work, no one except his mother. So to be disregarded by someone else...
He felt dismissed.
Amelia’s eyes scanned the pieces. She could understand why Liavenne was one of the top luxury companies; they were truly at the top of their game.
Seeing that Amelia did pay attention to the clothes, Damien remarked,
"So pretentious. Acting like you don’t care when you are actually fascinated."
Amelia ignored him, moving closer to a dress that had caught her eye. Just then, a familiar figure caught her attention.
Sera.
Amelia instinctively looked away, pretending not to notice her. She didn’t have the strength nor time to deal with her.
But Sera had already seen her.
Sera held a bit of a grudge against Amelia. Though she didn’t really remember what happened after she got drunk, she did remember being with Amelia. However, when she woke up, she found herself asleep at the gate of her family’s mansion.
Amelia had just dumped her there!!!
However, she was still grateful that at least she had not completely abandoned her to fend for herself.
As much as she hated Amelia, she still needed to be grateful when helped. So Sera approached Amelia with a haughty look, her arms crossed.
"It seems like fate has really brought us together again."
Amelia sighed. "I see."
Sera tossed her hair over her shoulder. "Since we’ve run into each other, let’s grab a treat. My treat." Then she added quickly, "Don’t get any ideas that I want to be friends with you. I am only doing it because you helped me last night, and I am not an ungrateful person."
Amelia shook her head. "I can’t. I’m working." She gestured toward Damien. "My boss won’t let me."
Sera’s eyes flicked to Damien.
For a moment, she felt like a holy light shone above him, making his already unfairly handsome features stand out even more.
She knew him, or rather, she had seen glimpses of him at banquets, so seeing him up close...
Damn.
Sera felt her cheeks slightly heat up.
"This is your boss?"
Amelia nodded.
Sera smirked and turned to Damien. "Mr. Boss, I want to steal your employee for a little bit. I promise I’ll return her in one piece."
Damien raised a brow. "That’s not how it works."
Before Sera could argue, a group of ladies walked into the store, chattering to one another in hushed whispers.
Lilac’s friends.
The moment they spotted Sera, their lips curled in disdain.
"Well, well," one of them sneered. "Look who it is."
Sera’s mood immediately soured. She hadn’t expected to meet them here.
But rather than acknowledge them, she turned back to Damien.
"Are you going to release Amelia to me or not?"
Elise, who was one of the girls, frowned.
"You bullied Lilac, and now you’re hanging out with her?" Her eyes flicked to Amelia with clear hostility. "Is that why you bullied Lilac in the first place? Because you’ve been hanging out with this...."
Amelia, who was being referred to, was unfazed and remained silent.
"Just apologize to Lilac," another girl urged. "She’s willing to forgive you. She’s not that cold-hearted."
Sera rolled her eyes. "Why would I apologize when I am not in the wrong?"
"Why are you being so stubborn?" one of the girls said and glared at Amelia. "I am sure it’s because of her. She is influencing you."
Amelia: "..."
Somehow, everything bad has to do with her, doesn’t it?
Amelia found her lips twitching bit by bit.
"Isn’t that why she was driven away by her father? Karma got back to her," one of them said.
Amelia finally turned to them and spoke calmly.
"I see you all have very creative imaginations. Tell me, are you hoping to publish a novel with all these made-up stories?"
A sharp silence fell over the group.
Elise’s lips parted, retorting loudly " But are you going to deny them? You bullying Lilac and being driven away from the Cosgrove Mansion aren’t made up stories "
Amelia sneered, her tone as polite as it was condescending.
"I bullied Lilac? How? By ending my engagement with my fiance who cheated on me with her? " Amelia let out a short laugh "Will I be blamed for the economy crashing next? Or perhaps for bad weather?"
Sera stifled a laugh.
The women fumed but couldn’t find a proper retort.
Elise turned to Sera. "You can still be friends—"
Sera scoffed, interrupting her. "Why would I stay friends with a man-snatcher?"
Gasps erupted among the group.
"You—!" One of them lunged at Sera, grabbing her wrist.
Sera immediately yanked her arm back. "Don’t touch me."
The tension escalated instantly. Another girl pushed Sera, and Sera shoved her right back.
A fight broke out, insults, grabbing, biting. Amelia enjoyed the show for quite a while before she finally turned to Damien and asked, "Does this store not have security?"
Damien sighed in exasperation before pulling out his phone. "Security, get in here and remove the trash."
Within moments, store security stormed in and swiftly separated the women.
One of Lilac’s friends shrieked in anger,
"You bitch! Come here and see if I won’t claw your face off!"
Sera wagged her tongue at her. "Yet you are the one whose face looks like an inflated ball. Plastic surgery won’t be able to save you this time."
Damien gestured lazily toward the exit so that the fight wouldn’t begin again.
"Out," he ordered.
One of the girls turned to him in outrage. "Do you know who we are?!"
Damien gave a lazy smirk. "Do you know who I am?"
That shut them up.
Security promptly escorted them out, and peace returned to the store.
Sera dusted herself off and sighed. "Well, that was annoying." She turned to Amelia with a frown. "Are you coming?"
Amelia pinched the bridge of her nose. "Still working."
Sera rubbed her arm, still sore from the scuffle. "Fine. I don’t even want to see your annoying face anyway."
Amelia: "..."
Well, she didn’t have the energy to participate in this childish banter anyway.
Amelia turned her attention away from Sera, back to the cloth she was studying, but yet again, she was disturbed.
Her phone vibrated in her bag, and with an annoyed click of her tongue, she took out her phone, answering the call.
"Hello, is this Miss Amelia Cosgrove?" a voice from the other end spoke.
"Yes, I am."
"We wish to speak to you concerning your ward, Ray Cosgrove."
