Her Rebirth.-Chapter 58
Chapter 58: Chapter 58
"And you have a pea-sized brain, believing everything you see on the internet."
"Who is this kid with the phone?"
"Your father!!!"
Ray Cosgrove typed aggressively on his phone.
These fuckers were trying to bring his sister down, and he wouldn’t fucking let them. Ever since the news of Amelia bullying Lilac surfaced, the whole internet had been against Amelia. Ray had tried to contact her several times, but it wasn’t going through. He didn’t know where she currently lived, so he couldn’t visit her. So, he did what he felt was best, he created a fan account and began defending Amelia aggressively. For every insult, he had ten more to dish out. No one was allowed to insult his sister.
As for the perpetrator behind this whole thing, Ray knew it was clearly Lilac. After all, from what he had seen, his dear stepsister wasn’t the innocent person he once thought she was. However, he hadn’t seen her for the past few days, making it difficult for him to even scold her as much as he wanted.
Well, she better stay out there and never come back!
Ray scrolled through his phone, looking for more news concerning Amelia when he read a headline.
Insider Story: Amelia Cosgrove Missing!
According to the article, an employee at Liavenne had secretly disclosed that Amelia had gone missing, which was why the press conference was unable to hold anymore.
Ray’s fingers hovered over his phone screen, the words of the article burning into his mind. Amelia Cosgrove Missing! His grip on the phone tightened. His heart pounded in his chest, a mix of disbelief and pure, unfiltered panic swelling inside him.
"What the fuck—" He bolted upright from his chair. Missing? What the hell did they mean by missing?
His first instinct was to call her again, his thumb smashing the dial button, but just like before, nothing. The line went dead. Disconnected.
"Fucking hell!" He cursed, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
If Liavenne had actually lost track of Amelia, then something was seriously wrong. His sister wasn’t the type to just disappear. Not unless—
No. He refused to think of the worst.
His mind raced. Lilac. That two-faced, scheming bitch. He was sure she was involved somehow, but she had vanished too. He couldn’t even confront her. His stepmother and father? Useless. They wouldn’t care enough to do anything.
His blood boiled. His fingers twitched over his phone again. He needed answers. Fast.
That’s when he thought of Kai. They seemed to have a good relationship, so he must know where she was. But now the problem was that he didn’t have Kai’s number or his home address.
But Ace should have it, right?
Ray quickly dialed Ace’s number. He needed to get to Amelia fast.
—
Ace had managed to give Ray Kai’s house address, and once he got it, Ray wasted no time going to find Kai.
The moment Ray arrived at the estate, he didn’t know why, but he immediately felt out of place. The estate was way too upscale, far more exclusive than anywhere he expected Kai to be living. The kind of place where the land itself was worth a fortune, and yet... Kai’s house was small, understated, tucked away like a well-kept secret.
Something about it didn’t sit right. If Kai wasn’t favored by the Blackwood family, then how the hell did he afford to live here?
Shaking off the thoughts, Ray marched to the door and knocked hard. No answer.
He knocked again, more forceful this time.
A moment later, the door cracked open, revealing Kai Blackwood, his expression casual, a lazy smile stretching across his lips.
"Ray Cosgrove." Kai’s voice was smooth, almost amused. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
Ray didn’t waste time. "Where’s Amelia?"
Kai tilted his head slightly, as if puzzled. "Amelia?" he echoed, as if he had to think about it. "No idea. Should I be concerned?"
Ray narrowed his eyes. He didn’t know why, but he didn’t believe him one bit. But before he could push further, a sudden sound came from inside—the crash of breaking plates.
Then—
"Poppy, don’t make noise. Mom is trying to recover."
Ray froze.
His mind barely registered Kai’s voice telling him, "Have a nice day."
The door slammed shut.
Ray stood there, blinking, his mind reeling. Mom? His lips twitched, his fingers curling into a fist.
Slowly, he raised his hand, and flipped the middle finger at the door.
"Prick," he muttered under his breath, turning on his heel and walking away.
But his gut told him one thing for sure—
Kai Blackwood was full of shit, and he was definitely suspicious.

Pit-pat. Pit-pat.
Amelia’s eyes squinted in discomfort. She could see it all once again, her father’s and brothers’ heads severed before her eyes, their heads hung on the palace gate as the rain poured, washing their blood away, as if it ought to wash away their sins.
"Watch," Aldric had whispered, gripping her by the hair, forcing her to witness it. "See what happens to those who rebel against me."
She could still feel the hotness of the tears that fell down her cheeks as she cried out,
"They did not... We are innocent, Your Highness!"
Gasp.
Amelia jerked up—
Ugh.
Her head was pounding like it was being struck by a hammer.
Once the pain had passed, she looked around. She was back in her room, a drip connected to her hand.
All she could remember was—
Blergh.
Amelia felt bile rising in her throat as she remembered that grotesque scene and the way Kai...
She never knew he was that... crazy.
The faint sound of rain reached Amelia’s ears, and she stared out the window.
"It’s raining," she muttered as if pulled into a trance.
The rain... It was just like that time.
She could see the scene vividly, just like that time.
Why couldn’t she forget? She wanted to forget.
Why... Why won’t the rain let me forget?
Her legs walked across the cold floor as if in a trance, blood dripping from her hand, leaving traces behind.
Why....
What did I do wrong...?
It’s all my fault.
She walked into the rain.
—
Kai had been reading through some reports in his study when the sound of movement outside Amelia’s room caught his attention. He frowned, setting down his glass of tea.
Was she finally awake?
He rose from his seat, walking toward her room, but when he got there, the door was open—
She was already gone.
Kai’s brows furrowed.
Something wasn’t right.
He grabbed an umbrella before heading outside.
Then he saw her.
Amelia stood in the rain, the white fabric of her nightgown clinging to her skin as the water drenched her, soaking through her hair, dripping down her face. She stood still, her head tilted toward the sky, watching the endless downpour.
A silent, empty gaze.
Like a ghost.
His lips pressed into a thin line.
Something was wrong.
"Amelia."
He called out softly, but she didn’t react. Didn’t even blink.
Kai stepped closer, his fingers tightening around the umbrella. He was about to call her name again when he saw them—
Tears.
They were mixed with the rain, invisible to anyone who wasn’t paying attention.
But he saw them.
The way they slipped down her cheeks, the way her lips trembled just slightly.
Kai’s breath hitched for a fraction of a second. His fingers curled around the umbrella handle, his expression turning to one filled with confusion.
For a moment, he didn’t say anything, or rather, he didn’t know what to say at that point.
He didn’t know what to do either. He could easily carve a man’s skin apart without flinching, but this? Seeing her like this? It made something twist, uncomfortably, inside him.
He exhaled softly and simply lifted the umbrella, shielding her from the rain.
He didn’t ask what was wrong. Didn’t push for answers.
He simply stood by her side.
Because even if he couldn’t understand what she was going through, even if he didn’t know how to fix what was breaking inside her
He could stay.
And for now, that was enough.
He would stand with her in the rain.
