Chapter 79: Chapter 79

Kai’s lips devoured Amelia’s like she was the sweetest thing he’d ever tasted, biting and nibbling. After tracing and teasing her lips, he moved lower, down the slender line of her neck, his breath hot against her skin, kissing it softly and gently. When he reached her collarbone, he nipped gently, leaving behind soft bruises. Amelia let out a low moan, her breath trembling, and that sound alone sent a rush of heat spiraling through his gut.

His hands roamed her waist slowly, deliberately, as his mouth found her neck again. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent as he pressed soft kisses there, like he was tasting a fine wine, savoring every part of her. His voice came out husky and filled with need. "It’s a shame to remove this little rabbit outfit," he whispered, tugging lightly at the edge of her pajamas, "but right now... it’s in my way."

Amelia’s cheeks were already flushed, but at his words, a deeper shade of red blossomed across her skin. She didn’t protest. She only looked at him with wide eyes as he slowly peeled the pajamas away from her body, revealing her inch by inch like he was unwrapping the rarest gift.

He paused for a moment, simply taking in the sight of her barely clothed body, then murmured with reverence, "You’re beautiful."

He leaned in again, pressing a tender kiss at the bridge between her breasts, then lower, down to the dip of her nape.

Amelia watched him carefully, her heart racing more than ever before. And then, softly, hesitantly, she asked,

"Kai," she whispered. "Did you mean it... when you said you loved me?"

Kai stilled, and slowly, he lifted his head, his gaze meeting hers. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes glimmering with uncertain vulnerability.

And in that moment, something primal flickered behind Kai’s eyes. It was obsession, adoration, devotion, all wrapped into one as he looked at her like she was the only thing that existed. He had thought about it previously, hard and long. At first, she was merely a little interest of his, but as time went on, he could no longer imagine a life without her in it. She had crept into his life willingly, so it was only right she stayed.

"Isn’t it obvious?" he said with a short laugh. "I’m madly in love with you, my little butterfly."

Amelia’s eyes widened, her heart in turmoil. He loved her, he really loved her.

Amelia could feel her emotions rushing like a broken dam, and she tried to swallow them back, but the tears came anyway. Her eyes welled up, tears spilling down her cheeks as she choked out, "Then you can’t go back on it... not ever. If you’ve said it, you have to mean it. You have to love me forever."

At that moment, any sensual feeling Kai had was washed away and replaced by sorrow seeing Amelia cry. So without hesitation, Kai pulled her into his arms, cradling her as if shielding her from every cruel thing in the world.

"I promise," he whispered as he placed soft kisses on her eyelids, one by one. "I’ll love you forever. So don’t cry, my little butterfly... don’t cry."

But she kept crying quietly, as though releasing her pent up fear and pain. She clung to him, burying her face into the crook of his neck while he held her tighter, rocking her slightly in his arms.

Time passed. Her tears slowly calmed, her breath evened out, and soon, he no longer heard the little sounds from her quiet sobs. He looked down and saw her sleeping, her lashes still damp, her expression soft.

Kai chuckled faintly, brushing a few strands of hair from her face. "You really are something else," he murmured.

Carefully, he picked her up and carried her to his bedroom, and he laid her gently on his bed. She shifted slightly in her sleep, unconsciously reaching for him.

He slid in beside her, drawing the covers over them both. He stretched his arms and wrapped them securely around her waist. Then he pulled her close, tucking her against his chest like she belonged there.

And maybe... she did.

As sleep crept into his own eyes, he pressed one final kiss to her shoulder and whispered, "Mine... forever."

Amelia tossed beneath the warm blankets, her brows furrowing slightly as she felt something hard against her thigh. She slowly blinked her eyes open, disoriented at first until her gaze landed on the sleeping figure beside her.

Kai.

His hair was slightly tousled, a few strands brushing against his sharp cheekbone. The early morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a golden hue across his bare torso. His features, so often sharp with intensity, were now softened in sleep, making him look almost boyish, peaceful... beautiful, if she must say.

Amelia’s heart thudded in her chest, and the heat rushed to her cheeks as memories of last night came flooding back. She buried her face briefly in her hands, internally groaning.

God, I cried in front of him... Did I look hideous? Did he think I was pathetic?

She peeked at him again, eyes trailing down his bare chest, taking in the smooth lines of his broad shoulders, sculpted chest, and the way his arm lay loosely across the pillow. Everything about him looked... unfairly perfect.

Amelia couldn’t help but let her gaze linger a second too long.

Timidly, she reached out, her fingers brushing a lock of hair from his cheek.

And just like that, his eyes fluttered open.

Amelia froze in motion.

Kai blinked once, then smiled warmly at her, causing her heart to flutter. "Good morning... my little butterfly," he murmured, his voice still rough from sleep.

Amelia jerked back slightly, her blush intensifying. "G-Good morning..." she stammered.

He chuckled, and he leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. "You’re just too cute, Amelia. Honestly, waking up to this view feels unfair."

She blushed even harder, fidgeting with the edge of the blanket. "Don’t say things like that so early..."

He placed a kiss on her left cheek and whispered against it, "But it’s the truth."

She was about to respond when her eyes flicked to the clock on the wall and her heart dropped.

"Shit! I’m late!"

Before she could throw off the covers, Kai wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her back into his chest.

"Do you really have to go?" he murmured, nuzzling her neck.

"Yes," she sighed, half-laughing. "I have work."

His eyes darkened a little, clearly displeased, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he gave her waist a gentle squeeze and said, "Alright... I’ll go make you breakfast. Something light so you won’t rush out hungry."

She gave him a grateful smile. "Thank you."

As she rushed to the bathroom, Kai walked into his massive wardrobe. Along one side was a clearly sectioned area filled with neatly arranged women’s clothes. He grabbed some toiletries and placed them carefully on the bed. Once he was done, he called out toward the bathroom, "I left some stuff for you on the bed!"

"Thank you!" she called back through the door.

While he stepped out to the kitchen, Amelia stepped out from the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, still drying her hair. She looked around for clothes, then realized... she hadn’t brought any. They were still in her apartment!!

Just then, the bedroom door creaked open and Kai stepped in. His eyes landed on her, and for a moment, he just stared.

Her skin, damp and flushed from the shower, glistened faintly in the light. The towel was short, barely clinging to her thighs. His eyes darkened instantly, heat curling through him like wildfire.

"I—um," she stammered, hugging the towel tighter. "I don’t have anything to wear. Could you... maybe grab something from my apartment?"

"No need," he said smoothly and strode to the wardrobe.

He opened it, revealing rows of luxury women’s clothing: dresses, shirts, blouses, coats and even designer shoes lined up neatly beneath.

Amelia felt her heart fall. She knew she wasn’t being rational now, but why did he have so many women’s clothes in his wardrobe? Was it for another woman? Before she could even control the jealousy coiling inside her, she heard herself say,

"Why do you have so many women’s clothes? Have you... had women in this room before?"

Once those words came out, she immediately berated herself. What if Kai saw her as being too jealous? freewebnoveℓ.com

Kai turned to look at her, his eyes filled with happiness. When he had seen the way her eyes had darkened with suspicion, his heart nearly leapt.

She was jealous, because of him.

He walked toward her, wrapping his arms gently around her waist from behind, his chest pressed to her back. She flinched, but didn’t pull away.

His lips brushed against her ear as he whispered,

"I bought them for you," his voice a deep baritone. "Because I knew... you would become mine."
