His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 160: set up
Chapter 160 - set up
Chapter 160- Set Up
Beatrice's POV
"Okay," I muttered as I adjusted myself comfortably without even glancing at the door.
I didn't reopen it and close it.
And I wasn't planning to.
"Close the door, Beatrice," Declan said again, his voice low, already starting to sound irritated.
I stared straight ahead like I didn't hear him. I didn't want to reply. Not because I didn't have the words—I had plenty—but because I didn't want to waste my breath on him.
But then again... maybe just this once, I should give him a little something.
A taste of his own stubbornness.
I turned my head slowly and said, "What are you supposed to say when you want someone to do something for you?"
He blinked at me, confused. "Say what? What do you mean say?"
I let out a small, dramatic sigh. "What is the magic word, Declan?"
Now he looked like I'd asked him to recite the alphabet backward. "What magic word?" he asked again, his face twisted in irritation.
I shrugged and looked out the window. "Whenever you're ready to use the magic word, let me know. Until then, we're not going anywhere."
"You want me to say please?" His voice was already rising. "You want me to beg you?"
"You want me to plead with you for something that is actually for your own safety?" He scoffed. "You want me to say please so you don't fall out of the car?"
Still, I said nothing.
Just kept my gaze out the window like he didn't exist.
"Glad you're not as dumb as you look," I finally said. "You've said the word. Now say it properly."
He gritted his teeth.
I could see his pride crawling under his skin like ants, but he swallowed it.
"Please, Beatrice," he muttered.
I tilted my head slightly. "Say it better."
He glared at me, clearly at war with himself.
Then, in a slow, clipped voice, he said, "Please, Beatrice... help me open the door and shut it so the door doesn't fly open while we're driving."
I smiled.
"Very good," I said sweetly. "So you can beg. You can be polite. I thought your tongue didn't know how to say magic words."
"Beatrice," he groaned, leaning his head against the headrest like he was about to lose his mind. "I don't have time for this."
"Well, make time," I snapped. "You've made time to insult me,... now make time to speak to me with respect."
He stared at me with cold, frustrated eyes.
And then... I leaned back and crossed my legs, cool as ever.
"Declan," I said calmly, "after careful thinking—even with your begging, which I must say was cute—I've decided not to close the door."
His eyes widened slightly.
"You heard me," I added with a dry smile. "Go find someone who's not a bitch to help you close it properly. I'm sure she'd do it with a big fake smile and her legs spread wide."
I turned my face back to the window, ignoring the silence that followed.
"So after wasting my time, you didn't help me shut the door?" Declan asked, staring at me like he couldn't believe it.
I didn't even look at him. "I guess you're not blind, Declan."
"Whenever you're ready to step outside your mighty car and shut the door yourself, go ahead," I added casually. "In the meantime... I'll be pressing my phone."
I knew that sentence would piss him off. In fact, I was counting on it.
And I was right.
The way he stared at me? If looks could kill, I would've been six feet under before I blinked.
I calmly took out my phone, opened a random app, and started scrolling. Truth be told, I didn't even know what I was doing. I was just tapping at the screen, pretending to be busy. I wasn't even seeing anything.
But that wasn't the point.
The point was to ignore him.
I could feel his eyes burning a hole into the side of my face, but I didn't lift my head..
"Fuck you," he muttered under his breath as he pushed the car door open to step out.
"Gladly," I replied without missing a beat. "You should've waited for me to help you lock it."
He slammed the door shut and walked around the car. I could already tell what was coming, so I shifted away from the door quickly, giving him space. No way I was going to let him squash my legs with his tantrum.
And just as expected—BANG!
The force he used to close that door?
If I had high blood pressure, I'd be dead.
If my leg had still been there, I'd be legless.
I didn't say a word. I just stared straight ahead, pretending I didn't almost lose a limb.
He opened the driver's door, got in, and started the car. Still didn't say anything.
Good.
What would he even say? Nothing meaningful, that's for sure.
So let him keep that silence.
We drove in complete quiet. The road felt longer than usual, and if not for how pissed I still was, I might've asked him where the hell we were going. But I didn't care anymore. Wherever he was dragging me to, I'd survive it.
The silence between us was thick..
Suddenly, he slowed the car and pulled over. His eyes started scanning the area, like something wasn't adding up.
Then he picked up his phone and started dialing.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Whoever he was calling wasn't picking up. His fingers gripped the phone tighter. Then he punched the steering wheel hard.
Typical Declan.
If something doesn't go his way, he has to hit something.
Tables, walls, me...
Now, the steering.
"Fucking hell," he hissed under his breath.
Then the phone rang. He quickly picked it up and put it on speaker.
"Where the fuck are you?" he barked into the phone.
For a few seconds, no reply.
Then finally, the voice of one of his guards came through. "We're here at—" the man mentioned a location I remembered from earlier. The same place they claimed they found someone important.
I couldn't even recall it. Declan constant tantrums didn't let me recall it.
"I'm there too!" Declan snapped. "Why am I not seeing you?!"
"We're here, boss. You'll see us soon... with the bastard," the guard replied. But before Declan could say anything else, the call ended.
Just like that.
Declan stared at his phone like it had betrayed him.
"Something's fishy," he muttered.
I forgot I didn't even want to speak to him. "What do you mean?"

"I think we're being set up," he said, eyes narrowing at nothing in particular.
And then—
"Get down!" He shouted as gunshot followed Immediately.
