His After The Heartbreak (BL)-Chapter 166: I Just Need To Hear Her Voice
Chapter 166 - I Just Need To Hear Her Voice
Chapter 166– I Just Need To Hear Her Voice
Tyler's POV
The moment those words left his mouth, my whole world shattered.
It felt like the ground under me cracked open and swallowed me whole.
But I wasn't going to believe it.
No.
Not a fucking chance.
I stared at them like they were crazy, like they were speaking another language.
Because there was no way in hell my mother was dead.
No way.
Without thinking, I turned around and ran.
I ran straight to Logan's room.
I needed my phone.
I needed to hear her voice.
I needed to prove to myself that they were lying.
That this was all some sick joke.
I grabbed my phone from the table where I had dropped it earlier.
I remembered it got drenched in the rain when I was stuck outside...
But I didn't care.
I was ready to bet everything on luck.
I pressed the power button hard.
Nothing.
I pressed it again, harder this time.
Still nothing.
"No... no no no no," I muttered under my breath, my hands shaking.
"FUCK!" I screamed.
"Turn the fuck on!" I shouted at the phone like it could hear me.
I punched the wall beside me, feeling the sting crawl up my fist.
I didn't care.
I punched it again.
And again.
My whole body was trembling, and my heart was racing so fast I thought it would explode.
But the phone stayed dead.
Black screen.
Silent.
Useless.
Maybe the rain had ruined it for real.
Maybe I was too late.
But I refused to give up.
I looked around the room like a madman and spotted Logan's charger on the bed.
I grabbed it, almost ripping it from the socket, and jammed it into my phone.
Maybe it just needed a little juice.
Maybe it just needed a little help.
I plugged it in.
I waited.
I pressed the power button again.
Nothing.
No blinking light.
No buzzing sound.
Nothing.
The phone was gone.
Dead.
Just like they said my mom was.
"No!" I shouted again, louder this time.
I couldn't take it anymore.
I raised the phone and threw it with all my strength against the floor.
It shattered into pieces instantly.
The sight of it broke something even deeper inside me.
I staggered back a little, breathing hard.
Then I remembered.
Logan.
Logan had a phone.
Maybe I could use his.
Maybe if I could just call her—just hear her voice once—everything would be okay.
I began searching the room like a crazy person.
I threw pillows on the floor.
I opened drawers, checked under the bed, ripped through clothes.
Nothing.
No phone.
I didn't see it anywhere.
I clenched my fists so tight that my nails dug into my palms.
I punched the wall again, harder than before.
This time, my fist went through.
I didn't even feel the pain.
All I felt was the burning inside my chest, the fear crawling up my throat, choking me.
Tears blurred my vision.
Hot, angry tears.
I wiped them off immediately.
I couldn't break down now.
Not yet.
My mom was fine.
She had to be fine.
If I could just talk to her, if I could just hear her voice, everything would be okay.
I told myself that again and again.
Maybe Logan had his phone with him.
That was it.
Without thinking, I sprinted out of the room, leaving the door wide open behind me.
I didn't care about anything else.
Only her.
Only my mom.
I rushed to Logan and his dad.
Both of them turned to look at me with wide eyes, but I didn't even give them a second to speak.
"Give me your phone," I said to Logan, my voice rough and desperate.
Logan looked confused.
He took a step back like he didn't know what to do.
"Why, Tyler? Please, just calm down—" he tried to say, reaching out to me.
"I'm calm, Logan. I swear to you, I'm calm," I cut him off, breathing heavily.
"I just need your phone. Please. Give me your phone."
I could see it in his eyes.
Logan didn't want to give it to me.
He was hesitating.
And the way he hesitated made something dark crawl up my chest.
A new kind of anger.
A new kind of hate.
Why was he stopping me?
Why was he treating me like a child when all I needed was to hear my mother's voice?

"I'm sorry, Tyler, but I can't give you the phone unless you calm down first—"
Logan's words barely left his mouth when I snatched the phone straight out of his hand.
I didn't wait.
I didn't care.
If he wasn't going to help me, then I would help myself.
I didn't have time for anyone to waste my time.
"Tyler, what are you doing?!" Logan shouted, trying to reach for me.
But I didn't answer him.
I couldn't.
The only thing in my mind was my mom.
Just my mom.
I quickly turned on the phone and glad there wasn't any password then I dialed her number with trembling fingers.
It rang.
And rang.
And rang.
But she didn't pick up.
My heart squeezed so tight it hurt to even breathe.
"Pick up, Mom," I whispered, my voice cracking.
I called again.
Still nothing.
Again.
Nothing.
Again.
"Pick up, Mom! Please pick up!" I screamed, my whole body shaking with fear.
Each ring that went unanswered felt like a knife in my chest.
Tears welled up in my eyes, hot and heavy, blinding me.
The call went to voicemail.
I tried again.
And again.
Over ten times.
Still nothing.
Still silence.
Still emptiness.
I slowly turned around, my hands shaking, my knees barely able to hold me up.
I looked at Mr. Carter — Logan's dad — the man who had always been straight with me.
I wiped my tears quickly and forced my voice not to crack as I spoke.
"You... you're not going to lie to me, right, Mr. Carter?" I said, my voice trembling.
"You're not like Logan. You're going to tell me the truth, right? Please... just tell me where my mom is. Tell me why she's not picking up."
I could hear the desperation in my own voice.
Please... please just say this was a prank.
Please say this was a mistake.
Please say Logan was messing with me even though it wasn't April Fools.
"Answer me, sir," I begged, my throat burning from the words.
Mr. Carter cleared his throat.
He couldn't look me in the eyes.
And right then...
Right then I knew.
"She's gone, Tyler," he said softly.
Gone.
Dead.
The word didn't even sound real.
It didn't feel real.
It hit me so hard that my legs gave out.
I fell to the floor.
I didn't even feel the pain.
I felt nothing.
Nothing except the feeling of my whole world falling apart.
I clutched my chest, gasping for air, but it felt like no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't breathe.
The pain was too much.
It ripped through me, tearing me from the inside.
I sobbed so loudly that it echoed through the house.
I cried like a little boy who had just lost his whole world — because I did.
Because she was my whole world.
"Tyler, please calm down—" Logan said, rushing to my side.
He touched my shoulder gently like that could fix me, like that could pull me back together.
"It's going to be okay, Tyler," Logan said quickly, panic all over his face. "Please stop crying. Everything will be okay."
I shoved his hand off, crying even harder.
"No, Logan!" I shouted through my tears.
"Nothing is going to be okay! I'm not going to be okay!"
I slammed my fist into the ground.
"It's all my fault, Logan! It's my fault!" I screamed.
"I shouldn't have left her! I should have stayed! I should have just held her and told her everything was going to be okay! But instead—"
I broke down even harder, sobbing so much my body shook uncontrollably.
"I pushed her away... I left her alone..."
Logan tried to hug me, tried to calm me, but I pushed him away again.
"Don't tell me you understand, Logan!" I yelled, my face wet with tears.
"You don't understand! You don't even know what this feels like! Don't you dare say you understand!"
He flinched back, not knowing what to do anymore.
I didn't care.
I didn't care about anything anymore.
I cried and cried until my throat was raw and my body felt like it couldn't take it.
I was drowning in it — drowning in the guilt, the sadness, the heartbreak.
And just when I thought things couldn't get worse...
Mr. Carter's phone rang.
We all froze.
He quickly picked it up and put it on speaker.
The voice on the other end was cold. Strange.
"Do not believe anything you hear... even the previous call you received. Do not believe it."
