I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 218 Lanze’s Perspective (Part 3)
Lanze followed Sang Yan into the Imperial Court and discovered that the entire court, both inside and out, was surrounded by guards in various uniforms. At least six member countries of the Federation had collaborated, finally conquering the Auslan ruled by Leberli.
Seeing Sang Yan, a Commander hurried over with a somewhat ugly expression on his face.
"I heard you and the Sun of Auslan are old acquaintances," the Commander, covering his mouth with his hand, whispered something to Sang Yan. Sang Yan nodded and said calmly, "Leave it to me to handle."
Standing by the side, Lanze was only concerned about when he could see Suisui. His heart was already burning with anxiety, yet his face remained expressionless. Therefore, he didn’t hear what they were exchanging and simply followed Sang Yan into a great hall.
He was very familiar with this place; it was where his father used to discuss affairs of state with the Council every day. When he was younger, he had even been held on his father’s lap, listening in as his father handled governmental matters.
"Why are we here, and not at the top floor of the ancient castle?" Lanze asked.
As soon as Lanze spoke, he noticed an empty wine bottle rolling down the steps by the high throne, making a tingling sound as it hit the ground.
He looked in the direction of the noise and saw a disheveled man slouching next to the throne, his eyes bloodshot, his appearance debauched and haggard; it was indeed Leberli.
Lanze was taken aback.
He had only heard from Sang Yan that he had gone mad. He thought it was sarcasm, but now, seeing his mental state, it indeed seemed abnormal.
Leberli lay on the ground, his head lolling on the steps, his legs indecorously flung over the throne, staring straight at them like a person hanged upside down.
Now, Leberli had lost the air of lofty elegance that he once had. Sometimes he hid away like a child, refusing to see anyone; other times, he acted like a tyrant, executing innocent servants. Occasionally, he had his quiet moments, which were usually when he went up to the top floor.
He would still dress in his most magnificent clothes, shave off his beard, and tidy himself up before going to see her.
Then, every night, he was tormented by headache, becoming a disheveled ghoul, living day by day.
"What are you doing here?" Leberli grabbed a wine bottle and threw it at Sang Yan, "I’ve said it many times, she will wake up when she wants to. You all are so annoying, always disturbing her."
Without arguing with him, Sang Yan let out a low sigh and said, "They’ve broken through. Surrender, and you can live."
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Leberli laughed manically, "Do you really think I’m a fool? What do I need this life for? To be humiliated and tormented by them?"
Over the years, he had offended too many people.
At first, those countries were still very wary of his crazy antics, but gradually they united, turning the rage of their destroyed homelands into the drive for retribution. And it was as if Leberli found delight in this, becoming even more excited. He killed more and more people; the smoke of gunpowder grew thicker.
Sang Yan asked indifferently, "Why did you have to end up like this? In the beginning, Auslan and the Freedom Alliance together, you and the Sikoses Family were invincible, winning every battle. You could have become independent from the Federation and lived by your own rules, shutting yourselves away peacefully. So why did you intensify the situation?"
"...Yeah, ha ha ha... Why indeed..." Leberli rolled over weakly, leaning against the throne like a pile of mud. Pointing to the spot over his heart, he said, "Probably because it hurts here, so I wanted others to hurt too."
Leberli hugged his head and laughed loudly, tears streaming down without his realization.
Staggering to his feet, he stretched out his arms and looked around the grand hall, "What’s the use of all this? Without her, what’s the point of conquering all this! Let them kill me!"
A trace of compassion passed through Sang Yan’s eyes, but ultimately, he said no more.
Lanze had been unusually silent since earlier....
He had seen Leberli’s end with foreknowledge, he was supposed to become one of the Sun’s most outstanding contributors in the history of the Auslan Empire, and he shared some similarities with the second Sun. In terms of achievements, Leberli was impeccable, but privately he was criticized by later generations because he imprisoned Qiao Suisui in the top floor of the ancient castle. The two eventually ended in a disastrous fallout, and Suisui still left him, leaving Leberli in agonizing pain. That’s why, back then, I had warned him that no outcome was the best outcome. He was hoping that he wouldn’t pressure Suisui to a breaking point.
But now... things are different, all so different... It’s not just Leberli, Sikoses too. He should have been the glory of the entire family, taking over the Sikoses Family, becoming a Duke that Auslan couldn’t shake, and formally inheriting the Talent after marrying Suisui. Yet, he died alone in the bathtub of the secondary palace....
Everything is in chaos!
Lanze was restless, he didn’t wait for Sang Yan, and turned directly towards the ancient castle.
He had to see Suisui immediately.
...
The top floor.
Within this magnificent palace, whether it was the glittering grand hall or the exquisite and elegant inner sanctum, all were filled with an aura of tranquility and serenity. There was no clamor or strife, only peace and quiet. Every corner was carefully arranged and decorated, highlighting the nobility and elegance of the palace, very isolated from the outside world, as if it were a man-made Paradise.
There was no one in the hall, Lanze walked silently on the carpet, the quietness around him so profound that only his heartbeat could echo.
Even though he knew he was about to see her, he couldn’t help but feel a bit timid.
Lanze walked to the deepest part of the hall and saw a huge rectangular crystal coffin behind the gauzy curtains.
The temperature here was extremely low, yet somehow, using some technique, all items were not frozen or frosted over, everything as usual.
He walked up the steps, slowly approaching, and peered into the crystal coffin to see a girl sleeping peacefully on a comfortable red velvet cushion, her black hair spread across the pillow, her features radiant, skin so fair, lips red and moist, long eyelashes like a fan, very peaceful, in harmony with the world.
Anyone looking would think she was just a sleeping girl. No one would believe that the owner of this body had been gone for ten years.
Lanze’s eyes reddened with emotion, he wanted to reach out and touch her hand, the next second, a flash of silver light streaked, venomous fangs and a blood-red tongue struck out, deterring anyone from approaching.
"Is it you?"
Lanze quickly regained his composure; he saw a silvery King Cobra slither out from the crystal coffin and, upon touching the ground, transform into a man with silver hair and bare chest.
There was a silver scale on his left chest that had lost its original luster. The scale and its surrounding area were covered in ugly scabs, and there were even spots of vicious new flesh, glaring red.
"I’ll be brief, don’t let Sang Yan take Suisui away," Lanze said urgently.
He saw Zong Fang’s silver eyes, numb and indifferent, staring at him without any response, then he frowned and said, "He wants to lay Suisui to rest, you can’t let him do that."
Finally, the man in front of him showed a hint of reaction.
As if recalling something, he asked Lanze in a hoarse and dry voice from long periods of silence, "What month is it now?"
