I Am the Only Fertile Woman in the Game-Chapter 79: The Same Night Sky
Qiao Suisui was startled, not expecting him to speak to her given that the previous two times she initiated conversation, he had ignored her. She slowly moved over and took a look around the clean and bright environment. There was a room facing south that also had a terrace. A bit of tidying up would make it quite charming. She could sit on the terrace, bask in the sun, drink tea, and even grow some plants.
Anubis just stood aside, waiting for her to finish surveying the environment, noticing that she liked the room with the terrace but remained noncommittal.
"You choose first, I'm fine with anything," Qiao Suisui said somewhat distantly, standing aside politely.
Anubis didn't say a word and directly entered another room. The space was roughly the same size, but it lacked a terrace, and the sunlight was not as abundant.
Qiao Suisui was a bit astonished; she tilted her head, wondering if Anubis had intentionally given her the better room.
She followed him and stopped by his door without getting any closer.
"That— are you sure you want this room? It's next to the corridor; it might get noisy."
Anubis grunted in acknowledgment, threw his bag on a chair, casually took off his shirt, revealing his muscular torso.
Facing this sudden action, Qiao Suisui forgot to react and was caught off guard by the sight of his powerful back. The young man's back muscles were sleek, his waist narrow, yet his shoulders were broad, and near his waistline were two sexy dimples. His arms were tattooed with patterns and text she couldn't understand.
"Anything else?" Anubis turned back, seeing her still standing there. He carelessly threw his dirty clothes onto the back of the chair, walked up to the door, and looked down at her. "Do you want this room?"
"No, no... I..." Qiao Suisui forgot what she was about to say.
This wouldn't do, it was only the first day, and she couldn't act like a girl!
She cleared her throat, feigning composure, "Thanks, bro," then raised her hand and tapped Anubis's shoulder awkwardly and hastily, tiptoeing because she was not tall enough.
Anubis looked puzzledly at his shoulder, then watched her quickly scamper back to her room and shut the door, the whole process smooth and swift, giving a sense of a panicked escape. He shook his head and chuckled, then something crossed his mind, and his smile gradually faded. His expression turned serious, staring at the closed room door with a complex gaze.
Behind the door, Qiao Suisui covered her chest and took a deep breath, slightly distracted, then suddenly shook her head and slapped her cheeks.
"Qiao Suisui, wake up, the prettier the mushroom, the more poisonous it is," she muttered a warning to herself.
In the evening, she organized her belongings, contacted Ruka and Leberli separately via video call, and responded to the message Zong Fang had left her.
Zong Fang explained to her everything he needed to deal with back in Soter, when he would be done, and insisted that she must wear the ring at all times because he could monitor her physical condition in real-time. Qiao Suisui knew that although he didn't say it, he was actually very worried about her condition during the pregnancy.
After assuring him she was safe, she was about to log out when she saw eleven missed calls, all from a domain name that was garbled. She was slightly baffled and called back unhurriedly.
"Hello, who is this?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end, then a voice said, "Fuck."
Qiao Suisui was somewhat taken aback and was just about to hang up when she heard a man's voice ask, "Who are you, where is she?"
Qiao Suisui blinked and, looking at the Light Computer's audio wavelength, asked, "Carl?"
At that moment, she hadn't worn off the effects of the Voice Changing Pills. Ruka and the others had heard them, but Carl didn't know, which led him to think someone else had taken her Light Computer and answered the call. Qiao Suisui quickly explained a few words.
"Did your Light Computer turn into a bomb that explodes upon answering?"
At this time, not answering calls and when picking up hearing a man's voice she hadn't heard before, Carl couldn't help but suspect something fishy, almost storming in ready to throw punches.
"I was just busy."
The man's voice turned cheerful, "You recognize my voice?"
"I didn't, I guessed."
"You guessed it was me on the first try?"
"Because of all the people I know, only you talk in such an annoying way."

A silence came from the other end, followed by a sigh.
"Are you still mad at me?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Qiao Suisui hadn't kept up with his train of thought. After asking, she remembered he was referring to those words he had said in space. She had just wanted to say she couldn't remember them anymore, but the voice from the other side suddenly became heavy, "You might as well be angry at me." It was better than forgetting him completely.
"Is there something you need?"
Hearing her somewhat distant tone, Carl felt as if his mouth was filled with unripe apricots, the sourness spreading to his heart and down to his stomach.
During the time he was injured, she hadn't come to see him or asked him a single question. He let that pass, knowing it was his own fault for speaking carelessly. But she had left without saying a word, not even giving a heads-up. Even the three interstellar cleaners who had moved in after him knew where she was going. He was the only one in the small building who didn't, accompanied only by a robot that looked like a trash can, following him around all day.
"I want to make a complaint."
"Complain about what?"
"My room's pillow is uncomfortable."
Qiao Suisui was speechless. "You should talk to 6867."
"I want to complain about 6867 too; it doesn't understand human speech."
"Then how about I switch your room?"
"No."
"Then how do you want to handle it?"
"Let me see you one more time."
Qiao Suisui felt this man was really being unreasonable. Holding back her irritation, she said, "I can't come back now, maybe over the weekend."
"Qiao Suisui."
The audio band on the light computer stilled, indicating the man on the other side had paused for a few seconds.
Carl tilted his head back, brought the light computer close to his mouth, and spoke in a low and slow voice, carrying a barely noticeable tenderness and caution, "Go stand by the window."
Qiao Suisui didn't understand, but wanted to end the call as soon as possible, so she complied. She walked barefoot onto the balcony.
"Is this okay?"
"Hello?"
"Carl?"
Qiao Suisui looked at her wrist-mounted light computer, which showed the call was still connected, with no fluctuation in the audio band; this meant the other side wasn't speaking. Just as she was about to hang up, the voice came through the light computer again.
"Today's energy replenishment is done. You can go inside now." His voice was very low, lacking its usual flippancy, filled with a restrained gentleness.
"Don't kick 6867 and don't be harsh to it. I'll solve the room issue when I'm back."
"As you wish, boss."
After hanging up, Qiao Suisui muttered 'crazy' at her light computer and quickly pushed the bizarre call out of her mind. She stretched widely on the balcony. It was now completely dark, and resting her arms on the rail, she watched the star-filled night sky. Suddenly, a meteor streaked across, and she quickly brought her hands together, closed her eyes, and made a wish, thinking of her new life and smiling a heartfelt smile.
Downstairs at the apartment, Carl sat on a stone bench in the flowerbed, leisurely sprawled out with long legs, his silhouette blending into the night. He looked up and took a drag of his cigarette, and as he watched the figure return to her room, the recently eased longing surged back into his heart.
