I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 247: The Team outside the house
Chapter 247: The Team outside the house
The ABI had a large black van positioned a measurable distance from the Morales ranch.
In the van, there was an impossible large screen divided by three. The first side showed the building plan of the Morales Ranch, the second screen showed a group of small lights moving through a narrow tunnel and the third one showed the Morales Ranch from an aerial camera.
The rusting barbed wire fence was filled with overgrown weeds and wildflowers that pushed their way through the aged metal until there was no telling the structure of the fence. There were several outbuildings scattered around the properties, their roof caved in and their walls leaning precariously. Without any care, the entire ranch had withered into a barren expanse.
With the owner dying in prison and the Nest eruption a few years from now, nobody had claimed the land for the last 20 years; maybe the memory was something that the remaining relatives of Liam Morales who had murdered his wife and three children did not want to face every day.
Ravi’s eyes were closed as he continued to build the tunnels with the two mutants that had been called over from the branch quarters at Alstria. Initially, the ABI and the police team had planned a frontal attack but a mutant had confirmed that the suspect, Nathan Kim was in the same barn house with two other people. The barn house was also loaded with explosives, one wrong move and he would blow everything up.
They had come up with another plan immediately, building a tunnel that would lead directly under the place where the two women were. If they could open the ground, they would be able to rescue the two women.
Behind them was the ABI’s finest team of four, led by Arlen. The Special Agent had surprised all of his team when he had given the leadership to Arlen and declared that he would command from the van.
The manipulators, Roark and Mira looked at each other. The tunnel from the van to the barn house had been estimated to be constructed in two hours but the ground beneath them seemed more like tofu, the rocks and soil shifting so easily as if one was moving a cup on the table.
It was less than 20 minutes and they were already 70% in. The Van was watching with bated breath, Ravi could hear Draco muttering prayers to more than ten deities. He was fast but not enough to leave with the two women.
Sarah was also left behind in the van. While her ability was useful, there was another person with enhanced hearing ability who had reached Level 4, he was also the one who had confirmed the three heartbeats in the house and had gone with the rest of the team.
Five minutes later, the tunnel had reached underneath the barn house. Roark and Mia frowned and their bodies tensed, "SSA..."
A hurried voice came from the recording on Mira’s body, "There is another tunnel here." She reported and then coughed. She coughed again.
"Agent Mira! Don’t move." A male voice sounded in the van, it was familiar, the Agent with enhanced hearing ability.
"Something is wrong."
It was Arlen, his voice was calm without any panic.

"You are insane. You Bastard." Lisa swore as she looked at the madman in front of her. He held a small surgical knife and was drawing a straight line from the neck of the woman hanging on the ceiling, through her breast, and down her stomach. novelbuddy.cσ๓
Small beads of blood chased after the blade, he did not look at them, his eyes on Lisa.
"Everyone has a little insanity in them. That is what makes up humans after all." He followed her gaze to the woman and he smiled warmly, "Don’t worry. I didn’t do anything like that to her, I am always faithful."
Lisa bit her lips so much that she could taste the blood. She did not know where he had gotten the cuffs from but she could not even use her ability, "Bastard!" Shem swore, doing everything she could not to show the fear or the pain.
The way he looked at her was like he was teasing a trapped prey. He did not drug her like he did the woman, this madman wanted to see her in complete terror.
She looked at the bruised, bloodied woman, the blood that dripped from her hands onto the cracked blue tiles joining the dots of dried blood; at the man who wore a grin from ear to ear, his white surgical gloves now the color of red and she could feel the terror smashing against her walls.
Heavy. She swiped her tongue over her lips and she could almost taste the fear.
Was anyone looking for her? Lisa was not sure how long it had been since she woke up here, bleeding from her head.
Four. Ten hours?
She would rather die here and now than suffer like this. She bit her tongue as she looked at her gun on the table.
"Let me guess, your mummy and daddy did not hug you when you were small. Is that the reason you like to sit in the snow when you are upset, did they make you do that?"
"Shut up!"
She had spent months with this monster and she was ready to pick every single moment to shreds to look for weapons to hurt this person.
Those blue eyes narrowed at her and then smiled, all emotion wiped away in an instant, "Lili, all those little tricks would nit..."
At that moment, he heard a loud beeping from the monitor in the room, and his eyes slit. How could people have found the tunnel? That was a secret only his father and the higher-ups knew.
He pressed a button, "There are 24 bombs rigged around this barn house. If you make a single move, I would light this house on fire. I don’t want to but I will." His voice sounded kind, very kind, like the voice of a next-door neighbor who always brought back toys for you when you were little.
His words rang through speakers that were installed on a nearby tunnel and transmitted from the team recorders to the Van.
Ravi snapped his eyes open.
