I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 275: Meeting the parents part 2
Chapter 275: Meeting the parents part 2
Ravi frowned; this was not what he had envisioned when Arlen had told him all the stories of his family. Did they have a bad relationship? He did not want Arlen to be wronged.
Ravi moved a little closer to Arlen when he heard a gentle voice, "Now, he has come back you have started scolding again, if he leaves, you will start complaining all night."
A middle-aged man walked through the door of the greenhouse, pushing a cart in front of him.
He was beautiful. Ravi already knew he was beautiful when he saw the pictures online but it seems like even the web pictures did not do him justice.
He had long black hair that he combed into a ponytail and his eyes curved at the corners making him seem very friendly and approachable. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Raphael Ashford was first a model, then an actor, and then retired to inherit his family business.
A billion-dollar business. When it came to the status of the three husbands, according to the fan page that Ravi had browsed through, Raphael’s Status was the one that made Lysandra the most before marriage. Both of them had been born into ultra-rich, ultra-powerful families.
Even though the Ashford family was not as powerful as the Sinclair family they were not so far off.
Julian held his hand over his mouth and bent down, his shoulders shaking slightly. Lysandra did not look like she was the one being spoken to and just looked away, taking a cup of tea and sipping it casually.
"Dad is wearing his best clothes today. He is trying to impress you." Arlen whispered and suppressed a smile when he heard Ravi chuckle next to him.
He let go of Ravi’s hand to stand and greet his father. They hugged and Arlen kissed his cheeks.
"Dad..." He began to introduce Ravi when Raphael grabbed his cheeks, "You have lost weight, and look, your skin is not as clear as it was before you left. You must have been so stressed. Ly, have you seen what you have caused?"
Lysandra who was accused did not try to excuse herself and just sipped more tea.
Raphael soon dripped Arlen and grabbed both of Ravi’s hands in his, "You must be Ravi. I have heard so much about you. Arlen does not look as good as me, but at least he inherited my good taste. You are so stunning."
Ravi’s cheeks reddened immediately, "Arlen looks really good. He is the best-looking person I have ever seen." Ravi said awkwardly as he turned to look at Arlen.
"Best?" Those gentle eyes instantly narrowed, "He is more good-looking than me?"
"Raphael have some shame," Julian muttered.
Ravi nodded without hesitation. Arlen looks like his features were personally sculptured by the heavens, "Sometimes I can’t believe he is real."
Raphael’s eyes widened and then he burst out laughing, "Ly, Honey, take note, this is how I want to be coaxed from today."
Julian rolled his eyes but Ravi could feel like the tense atmosphere of earlier had been dissolved.
"You two came so quickly, I barely had any time to make any snacks."
"Arlen teleported in. Didn’t even knock."
"Teleportation? We have not had that ability in the family yet, no need to use the jet anymore. Can’t imagine how much fun we would get into, I have been craving some Jetaline from Nathalem, maybe we would go there. What a wonderful ability." Raphael gushed happily, pulling the cart and placing the items on the table.
"Except that on his registration, his ability is listed as Self-healing. Yet he can teleport and he could also tell that Rey was pregnant." Julian said, his voice was sharp and piercing as he stared at Ravi.
Even using his military and overseas connections, he could not find a trace of Ravi West before four years ago. It would not be a problem if Ravi was like Arlen’s other boyfriends but Julian could clearly see the emotions that were in Arlen’s eyes. The devotion and the love.
This stranger without a past had come to stay.
"You could not just wait for us to enjoy tea before you start hmm." Raphael muttered.
Raphael had been in a hurry and had done his best. Three cake stands were moved from the cart to the table, filled with a vast selection of small sandwiches, biscuits, smoked salmon blinis, mini quiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, macarons, and petit fours.
"Papa, Ravi’s secret is his to keep. He is the kindest and bravest person I know. Mother, Dad, Papa, this is the person that I love. " He met everyone’s gaze clearly and calmly. The kind of rigorous interrogation his brother-in-law went through and all he had to do to win the approval of his parents, he did not want Ravi to go through it at all. Ravi had already suffered enough he did not want to add a hint of suffering to that.
He loved Ravi. He loved it so much that he felt that he could burst with the emotion. His dad was not a problem and strangely enough, he knew his mother was not going to be a problem either. The main problem would be his Papa. He might be known as the indomitable soldier outside but Arlen knew how much he clung to the family.
Before them, he had not had any family so he should be kinder to him. That was what his Dad had told him when he was younger.
Julian and Ravi had a lot in common, Arlen thought to himself.
Lysandra sipped the tea in the cup and looked at her son, "Are you going to throw another tantrum if I should say no? Would you go somewhere even further than Davenport? Disown us, change your surname?"
Ravi was a little afraid that Arlen would indeed say yes. When it came to his mother, Arlen could be quite stubborn and childish even. It was cute but Ravi was on a mission and time was ticking.
"Madame Sinclair." Ravi started.
Lysandra raised her face, her lips softening, "Just call me Auntie."
Arlen coughed and looked at her incredulously.
Ravi had no idea that Lysandra did not even allow her Cousin to call her by name or even with the term cousin; she was always called Family Head by everyone and so continued, "Auntie. I understand you have a lot of reservations about me."
"I don’t have any reservations about you. You are powerful and you can take care of Arlen. The only person I have a problem with is Arlen."
