I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 286: Their first meeting
Chapter 286: Their first meeting
The next moment, it was as if cold water was poured on his head. After the calming energy, an annoying voice entered his mind, "Find the otherworld and bring him to me. I would take it from here."
Ravi wanted to roll his eyes but at the same time, he was very glad that Malik was all right.
The gentle voice echoed around him.
"Anouk, get down here."
Ravi looked across from him at the man floating in the air. The battle aura around him had disappeared as if it was never there. He was looking down and Ravi could not tell what the expression in his eyes was. In those cold eyes, there seemed to be an emotion burning like fire.
He moved and Anouk looked back up at him.
Would he stop him? Malik is here so all he had to do was incapacitate Anouk and send him down to Malik but if he could, he did not want to do it.
So, would Anouk try to fight him again?
He could not read Anouk’s expression and he did not feel like he had the place to give any advice on this matter. frёeωebɳovel.com
He did not teleport but walked in the air slowly passing Anouk to Arlen.
"Anouk!" The voice called again. This time, it carried a demanding tone that Ravi had not heard from Malik.
The sky cleared up and Anouk descended to the ground, leaving a gale of wind in his wake.
Ravi hoped they would resolve everything, beside he had a more important issue now. Arlen had not spoken to him since he said that Ravi should give Anouk a sound beating.
He must be so angry.
Ravi raised his hand and the chain on Arlen’s atoms lifted. He stood by the side guilty as Arlen rotated his wrists, rubbing them.
"You are mad at me. I know. I deserve it. But we have to find Zero and rescue the children." He whispered quietly. He clenched his hand tightly, it felt like was was being clenched instead was his heart.
Arlen did not respond and Ravi hesitated a bit, lowering his head to fiddle with the sword in his hand. After a second, he raised his eyes, Arlen’s eyes were clear and his gaze was straightforward- making his guilt surge even more.
Arlen looked at him, this was the same amazing person who had killed the Infernal Covenant that had plagued Earth for so long, now he was showing him this kind of hesitant expression.
The sky had cleared and under the sunlight, those strands of black hair seemed even more lustrous than before.
They were always so soft and pleasant to touch. The moment the thought crossed his mind, Arlen could not help but reach out to stroke his head.
Ravi’s eyes widened in surprise but it soon turned to a smile, the corners of his eyes curling as he enjoyed that warmth passed from Arlen’s fingers.
"I am not mad. I will deal with you later. Let’s go." He looked down worriedly, "Anouk would be alright, right?"
His brother was the strongest person he knew but when you add Immortals, Sentinels, Netherworld, he could not help but worry.
"I pity him. It is his misfortune to be loved by me. I am not a good person."
Ravi could remember Malik’s words, could recall the expression on the gentle man’s face and the trace of madness that loomed in the depths of his eyes but at the same time, he recalled Malik’s lonely figure holding an umbrella looking into the horizon that rainy day.
Like an abandoned cat.
"He would be alright." Ravi said. His eyes narrowed on a location ahead of him and he took off.
First, let him solve the fool that stirred the pot. After controlling and restraining himself, he just wanted to run amok.

The day that Anouk had met Malik, it was raining. Arlen had just come into his abilities and every time he felt sad, the weather of the Capital responded in kind.
The Heroes Association had scheduled a sort of meet and greet with the top students of the Boys Memorial School
They would introduce themselves, show a little bit of their abilities, and answer questions from the students.
Anouk did not care for such things but many of the students who attended the Memorial school were children of fallen heroes so he had agreed to come.
The students sat upright on their chairs, their eyes were eager and excited, and only one student was nonchalant. He leaned on his left arm, his eyes closed, like nothing going on interested him.
Anouk did not know what came over him that day, an emotion that he would find to become a constant in his life after meeting Malik. It was like he was being propelled by something he could not understand. He had walked over to the student and when those empty green eyes had met his, Anouk could feel like something had changed in the fabric of his being.
"What is your name?"
The youthful voice in his head was clear and gentle.
Anouk felt nervous, he pursed his lips, hesitating, afraid that his name might not please the student in front of him.
The student was young, around 17 years, a full five years younger than he was and yet it was as if his very presence made Anouk spellbound.
"Anouk Sinclair."
Preserving your identity was the first lesson that Anouk had learned in the Sinclair family. Life was not a game, Villains did not follow rules, and they could easily hurt your family if they learned who you were.
So every hero wore suits and masks, bearing a name that reduced them to their abilities. It was the smart thing to do.
However, when the student had asked him his name, Anouk did not think of lying. It felt...right to tell this person the truth.
"Anouk Sinclair." He could never remember whether he had repeated them in his mind or if he had said them out loud. So absorbed in Malik he had been, that he could barely anything that day that was not Malik.
"Anouk. I like it."
