I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 48: Meeting the Royals
Chapter 48: Meeting the Royals
"Alright, Rex here has an Aspect that could help us advance to the next rank," he spilled about Rex after some deliberate consideration.
Everyone present here was at Emperor Rank, the strongest beings of this world, and achieving the next rank either needed many resources or time.
But with enough experience, they understood that time only helps the geniuses who are talented beyond the norm. And everyone present here could dejectedly take the resource route.
"WHAT??" Rhegor stood up in shock, while everyone’s eyes widened, flickering with faint hope after hearing King Edmund’s words.
Even Rex raised his brows, surprised by this new revelation and their reaction.
"Calm down, and not only that..." King Edmund mumbled and began, "...We can also have many Purebloods in our ranks—with some effort, of course," he concluded, his face beaming with excitement.
"So, what’s his Aspect?" Syltheria, the Elf Queen, questioned impatiently, eyeing Rex. Her calm and reserved demeanor vanished for a few seconds.
"His Aspect is... hmm, let’s put it this way. What is the most important thing we are lacking in terms of resources right now?" King Edmund asked a very specific question while smirking knowingly.
"I think Purebloods—maybe mana ores and magical herbs too, but mainly Purebloods, because we can extract many types of resources. Even the places they die are surrounded with herbs and mana ores," Rhegor said and stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Spot on, Rhegor Goldhammer," the king praised, acknowledging his artifact-making knowledge.
Then, with a subtle smile, he raised his hands and placed them on Rex’s shoulders and began his introduction.
"Guess what—our Rex here can appraise beasts with 100% accuracy! Of course, there are limitations... but nothing that cannot be easily fixed," he dropped the bomb with a steady gaze, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
A heavy silence remained, and after a few minutes, the Elf King muttered in a sharp tone, "Stop joking, Edmund," scoffing in disbelief.
Syltheria, the Elf Queen, locked her gaze into Rex’s eyes and questioned, "Is this true, boy?"
To which he instinctively stiffened and innocently replied, "I-I can... only appraise beasts 2 stars above me," looking into her beautiful eyes.
Rhegor visibly pressed his temples. "So what you’re saying is true," he mumbled, understanding the gravity of Rex’s statement immediately.
Syltheria snickered at his reply. "Heh, if you could appraise beasts without any limitation, that would probably make you a god," she said and began explaining how things came to be...
"You know why it’s been so peaceful until now between humans and beasts for the past centuries?
We showed restraint with Purebloods while only killing the normal beasts, and even then, those beasts in the forest didn’t like it and have now waged war against us.
They’re retaliating now because we’ve suppressed and used them forcefully for too long. So we’re just going there to strike first and protect our borders. That’s also the reason why all four kingdoms have formed an alliance—to protect and strike first."
She explained in a firm, steady voice, but Rex could pick up the slight hate toward the beasts in her words.
As she concluded, King Edmund began, "Anyways, there’s a problem. That greedy Asselin, to gain the court’s favor and better rewards, introduced Rex in front of everyone. So I snatched Rex away from him, but sadly, the whole court saw it, so we have to do something about this.
Fortunately, it was the last day, and we could just tell them that Rex was a fake and we already killed him, but even then, we need to be cautious," the king explained. There were people other than them who knew about Rex.
Rhegor stroked his chin, and after a few moments, pulled out a simple-looking ring and displayed it in front of everybody.
"Here, take this disguising ring, Rex. Now you’ve been ’killed’ because of falsely speaking about your Aspect. That’s the story we will spread.
This will help you lay low just enough to make you unrecognizable, unless someone has seen you closely or is exceptionally skilled," he said.
"We need to protect him," Syltheria mumbled, while everyone nodded with a serious expression.
Seeing all this, Rex mumbled after taking the ring, "Can I leave now?" He didn’t like the way they had decided everything about him without even talking to him.
I’m happy they are protecting me, but that’s for their selfish reasons, he mused.
I won’t trust anyone until they are tamed by me—that’s the one rule I’ll follow by, he thought with a determined face.
Which was easily seen by the Elf Queen, as she mumbled, "Good that you are determined, but as we said, stay low, because the other kingdoms might try to kidnap or kill you,"
She said, mistaking his determination for something else, and warned him about their nature. Then she glanced at King Edmund, as Rex was his ’citizen.’
"Alright, Rex, you are free to leave. Since you don’t know anyone, find Vivienne and stay with her. We will also wrap this in a few minutes," he said and nodded with a small smile. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Thank you, Your Majesty. Thank you, Your Graces," he said in an innocent tone, while slightly bowing down.
"Let’s go, Darius." He looked at Darius, who nodded with a faint smile, and they both left the room.
Once they stepped out, fresh air brushed against them. They both took in a long breath as Darius questioned Rex in an excited tone, "What was that, Rex?"
"I don’t know, but don’t let your guard down," he hushed and swept his gaze to take in the surroundings and also find Vivienne.
There were many people seated on the ground in front of him in an orderly manner, a few smiling in excitement, others nervous, showing all kinds of emotions.
After spotting Vivienne at the corner of the ship, happily enjoying the view with others, a small smile appeared on Rex’s face. Equipping the ring, he and Darius began walking toward her with deliberate steps.
After approaching her, he slightly tapped on her shoulders from behind. She looked at him with the same condescending look, reminding him of their first encounter.
"What is it?" she questioned, annoyance evident in her voice.
"It’s me, big sister. You already forgot about me," he said in a sad tone, flashing a harmless look.
