"Wizard, are we heading to Fire Oil City now?" After Ryder settled the gathered poor in the square, he turned to Anthony beside him and asked.

"Indeed, sooner rather than later. Right now, there should be very few guards in Fire Oil City." Anthony nodded his head in agreement, then added with a smile, "They would never expect us to launch a counterattack now!"

Everything was going exceedingly well with their plans. For tonight's decisive battle, the Church had deployed all their elite troops, leaving no more than three thousand to guard Fire Oil City.

Most importantly, those two legendary clerics should be absent—there was no one to stop their assault!

"What about Dean Lynn's part?" Ryder hesitated for a moment, speaking with a hint of uncertainty.

The enemy's main force had been drawn away, and on their side, the battle was going very smoothly, but Ryder couldn't help worrying about the situation on the other front.

With only less than two thousand soldiers on the airship, how could they withstand the onslaught of the Church's fifty thousand-strong punitive force?

"Don't worry, I'm sure Master Lynn has his own plans…" Anthony said reassuringly.

"Besides, this battle is meant for legendary wizards alone. In a sense, you and I are simply in the way!"

Saying this, Anthony couldn't help shaking his head. He realized this during the discussion on how to deal with the Church's punitive army.

Because the focus of the council was on how to lure the Church's legendary clerics to the right place so that Lynn's new magic could be successfully deployed. Then, it was about how to prevent their own from getting hurt…

It was clear that the council had great faith in this new magic's power, hardly considering the Church's tens of thousands of soldiers a threat at all.

The decision to use the airship as the decoy was also because it was faster!

"If all goes well, we might even be able to return to support and get a distant look at Master Lynn's new magic!" Anthony said with anticipation.

Ryder was also immensely curious about what kind of magic could give Lord Lynn the confidence to defeat those legendary clerics capable of employing the Divine Descent Technique as well as the tens of thousands of soldiers...

...

While Ryder led the musketeers to raid Fire Oil City, the battle in the skies above took a new turn!

Hundreds of Griffin Knights quickly lost their morale and scattered in disarray under the pursuit of the new fighter machines.

Some did consider pursuing the airship, thinking that dying together with the enemy wasn't a bad end, but without the harassment of the fire dragons, they simply couldn't catch up to these full-speed alchemical creations!

Yasosi, who was proficient in Shaping Science and had flying experience, had a talent for calculations and was thus successfully chosen as one of the first batch of fighter pilots.

He was also extremely interested in this new type of alchemical creation, its speed far surpassing any flying creature he knew of, more than three times the speed of skyships; not even lighting fast would describe it!

Yasosi pushed the heat-source detection magic to its limits, turning the scattering Griffin Knights into large red dots, highly conspicuous in the night sky. They only had to aim at their targets and open fire with the machine guns—tat-tat-tat was all it took!

Just as Yasosi had fixed on the next target, ready to send the opponent on their way, he perceived a Griffin Knight rapidly ascending from below, heading their way in his senses.

"A lucky one? Going against the flow and still so brave!" Yasosi clicked his tongue in admiration, thinking it was one of the Griffin Knights they had shot down, who after healing their wounds, returned to the sky to join the battle. He couldn't help but feel a measure of respect.

Such an enemy, of course, deserved his full effort!

Yasosi immediately turned to face the onslaught. He could sense the red dot growing ever closer, and his autocannon was already in position.

As the distance diminished to only three hundred meters, Yasosi violently pressed the joystick, unleashing a crimson blaze from the autocannon's muzzle. A chain of bullet rain manifested in the sky…

The enormous red dot did not dodge or weave; the vicious autocannon fire struck it head-on!

"That was easy!" A smile crept onto Yasosi's face, but then he quickly realized that his shots, like mud cows disappearing into the sea, had not brought the enemy down. It was then he vaguely sensed something was amiss.

Immediately, a surge of intense premonition welled up within him. Yasosi instinctively veered off course, but it was already too late!

An explosion, like steel being torn asunder, resounded in his ears, sparks flying conspicuously in the night.

Yasosi felt a jolt course through his body as his chest seemed on the verge of exploding. With the exceptional dynamic vision of a Shaping Wizard, he distinctly saw a yellow-orange bullet that had struck him!

The enemy had actually reflected all the autocannon's fire back at him!

Hundreds of rounds of barrage directly tore through most of the fuselage, and the entire fighter jet immediately lost speed, plummeting irreversibly toward the ground…

Fighting through the intense pain in his body, Yasosi used electromagnetic magic to send out a warning message. Then, before the fighter jet completely fell, he opened the top protective cover and leaped out…

[Bat Wing Transformation]

Suspended in the air, Yasosi's back muscles began to transform, extending from near his shoulder blades, quickly forming a pair of wings three meters in length within a mere second.

His study of Shaping Magic, though not recognized by the masters and lacking the honor of the Morning Star Medal, did seem to have some use now…

As the electromagnetic signal was sent out, the wizards on the airships and fighter jets also received the message.

[Autocannon ineffective, enemy… Extremely dangerous!]

Indeed, Lynn did not need the warning to have already seen Yasosi being shot down and Lucia speeding towards them on a griffin.

Whether it was the use of some secret technique or not, the griffin carrying her moved with incredible speed, its wings leaving afterimages, its velocity even matching that of the aerial vessels…

"That must be the Church's Holy Maiden, right?" Harrov squinted his eyes, then spoke appreciatively, "Impressive nerve, she's followed us all by herself!"

Lynn was somewhat surprised as well. Although he was aware that after taking out the dragons and griffins in the sky, the legends of the Church would inevitably intervene, he did not expect Lucia to be the only one to catch up.

This did not align with his prior plan.

The unknown was what people feared the most.

"Let the fighter jets retreat first!" Lynn said gravely, quickly transmitting the command as an electromagnetic wave.

Several nearby fighter jets received the order and immediately started to turn back, abandoning their plans to besiege the enemy. They had nearly exhausted their ammunition and fuel and no longer had the strength to continue fighting…
