Chapter 46: 046. Feast_1
The hand showed no fear of the glass’s edges, and in the next moment, Lu Ban felt his field of vision suddenly narrow.
Because from the left-side gap by the driver’s seat, another hand had clambered up.
For the first time, the creature appeared completely before Lu Ban’s eyes, clear in detail.
Its skin was filled with a hard texture, and it had some irregular grooves on it; the mouth below its rat-like head was wide open, but the mouth was nothing like that of a rat. Instead, it had densely packed, sharp teeth, resembling some kind of reptile.
Out of the wide-open mouth flickered several dark red tongues, squirming like tentacles, trying to draw the food outside into its gaping maw.
The Ratman noticed Lu Ban driving from its first glance.

Two Ratmen, one on the left and one on the right, crawled into the car in a bizarre, creeping posture, their squirming tongue-like organs sweeping toward Lu Ban’s arm.
Lu Ban didn’t hesitate; he kept his left hand on the steering wheel while his right hand grabbed the crowbar, smashing it down onto the Ratman on the right.
The end of the crowbar hit the Ratman’s head with precision, embedding deeply, and some kind of dark yellow fluid splattered from the wound. The squirming tongues and fine, broken teeth instantly lost their vitality; the Ratman’s tiny vertical pupils dissipated, its body motionless.
But in that moment, the other Ratman on the left had already grabbed Lu Ban’s left arm.
The dark red, slick, slender tongues wrapped tightly around Lu Ban’s forearm, and the fine teeth left marks on his upper arm.
Pff—
Before even feeling the pain, Lu Ban saw a green color spreading from the wound on his left hand.
Several new sprouts emerged between the Ratman’s teeth and his own wound, quivering rapidly like irritated earthworms. Lu Ban felt something rising in his throat, and as he retracted the crowbar, he coughed out a splash of fresh green fluid onto the steering wheel.
“Don’t…”
A cry of despair came from behind him. Through the cracked rearview mirror, Lu Ban could see that at the back of the bus, several Ratmen had also climbed inside, attacking Stone and Mary.
Bang—
Mary shot the Ratman in front in the head, and its dark yellow fluid and flesh burst open. However, another Ratman immediately seized the opportunity and pounced, knocking Mary down. Its three-sectioned mouth opened wide, dark tongues wrapped around the middle-aged biologist’s neck, and sharp teeth followed swiftly.
“Ugh!”
Mary let out a low moan; her throat was ripped open by sharp teeth. As blood gushed out, green vegetation also sprouted from the ghastly torn flesh.
The Ratman raised its head slightly, preparing to bite again, intending to completely tear Mary’s throat when a gunshot sounded.
Bang—
Stone had somehow picked up Mary’s gun. His hands trembling, he fired a single shot and lost his balance, falling to the ground.
The Ratman attacking Mary had half its head blown away, its cloudy brain matter flowing onto her body, mingling with the filthy blood from her wounds, creating a grotesquely beautiful color.
Mary struggled to breathe. But her throat was torn, her main artery’s blood choking her trachea. She gasped for air like a drowning person, unable to take in any oxygen, about to suffocate to death.
Next to her, a pale yellow fluid flowed from beneath Stone. He trembled all over, unable to move any further, watching helplessly as two more Ratmen approached him and Mary, their menacing mouthparts exuding a foul odor, declaring their death sentence and end.
Lu Ban’s crowbar pierced through the Ratman gnawing on his left hand; the pain seemed to slow the Ratman’s movements for a moment. That same pain also brought Lu Ban back to clarity.
In his skull, some squirming lifeform was waiting to emerge, to greet its rebirth. The itching sensation turned into severe pain, tormenting Lu Ban’s sanity.
In such a desperate situation, Lu Ban opened his mouth.
“■■■■■——”
An ancient voice, grand and indifferent, burst forth from Lu Ban’s lips.
At that moment, an even more absolute presence occupied Lu Ban’s brain, a fear and awe that stemmed from human instinct, surpassing the sensations of itchiness and pain.
Lu Ban could feel between the ravines of his cerebral cortex a fiery blaze incinerating everything. If there had been a thermometer to measure at that moment, he might have witnessed his own body temperature surging past forty degrees Celsius.
This was Speech Bullet.
This was “Testament”.
The mystical language Lu Ban had previously collected at the Jiangcheng Grand Theater, from ancient beings, from a great existence, was now echoing within the bus carriage in the midst of Abandoned Capital’s wilderness.
In just a moment, the eyes of the Ratman attacking Lu Ban’s left hand bulged, huge and round, the dark yellow slit pupils began to waver, and it let out a roar.
A howl that Lu Ban had heard before, resembling that of wolves, yet also like the cries of humans.
The other Ratmen in the bus also issued roars. The ones clinging to the vehicle’s body and roof, along with their piercing and unpleasant shrieking, lost their strength and were flung off by the speeding bus.
Lu Ban paid no attention to these, as he continued to recite the mystical language while driving forward.
He was well aware that this grassland possessed a certain power that allowed plants to grow unchecked. Only by leaving the radiation range of the grassland could he alleviate his own vegetation transformation.
Within the recitation of the mystical language by Lu Ban, the new green sprouts seemed to halt their growth as well. At that moment, in Lu Ban’s ears, eyes, nose, and mouth, the wildly growing plants appeared to be swept by an electric current, trembling slightly, as if in fear, daring not to emerge, and actually curling and retreating.
The murky eyes of the Ratman beside him had already turned completely black, and its body seemed to be invaded by some kind of organism, swelling as if bubbles were trying to find an opening between the skin and muscles, about to explode with inflation.
“■■■■■——”
Amidst the deranging mystical language, the Ratman let go of Lu Ban’s hand and fell towards the exterior of the bus.
Lu Ban glanced at the Ratman, but in the next instant, a dark shadow enveloped the gray-white Ratman.
It was fish.
In the fever caused by his own mystical chanting, Lu Ban struggled to identify whether the fish was a terrestrial species. But at least when he saw the scaly body, the huge eyes, gills, fins, and a mouth full of sharp teeth, his mind’s first response described it as fish.
The enormous, almost bus-length dark figure swam through the eerie green grass, biting the fallen Ratman in its mouth and then began to “ascend”.
Lu Ban followed the fish’s figure and looked up to see one of them toss the broken body of the Ratman into the sky. The corpse floated up as if relieved of gravity’s hold, and then, more fish gathered around.
These fish swam nimbly out of those deadly grasses, completely unaffected by the plants, sharing the Ratman’s body in midair. Lu Ban noticed that even the dark yellow blood did not fall to the ground but dissipated like smoke.
He saw that after the fish quickly devoured the Ratman, they seemed to catch the scent of fresh blood.
They swung their bodies and swarmed towards the bus.
