I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 21: Ezra
Chapter 21: Ezra
ODETTE'S POV:
Emalea was the sole person in this entire place I actually liked. So, helping her with the laundry wasn't a chore, it was an engaging activity, pulling me from the mundane room I've been in.
It was nice outside, the air was cool, but not cold. It was my first time outside to see where I was. But what I wasn't expecting was the beautiful view the unfolded before me. Snowcapped mountains lined the horizon so tall they looked to touch the sky. Golden rays of sunshine warmed my skin, the smell of crisp mountain air, pine trees and grass, brought peace to me. Was I still even in America? I've never seen a place this beautiful. I was mesmerized by the scenic view.
"This is your view for laundry folding?" "I asked in awe.
"Yeah, it's why I do this chore to begin with. The fresh air, the mountain view, the smell of nature. It's a little piece of heaven for me." Emalea's voice was soft and soothing to hear.
"Come on now grab a wet sheet and hang it." She said with a teasing tone.
"Hmph" I nodded and grabbed a sheet from the large wicker basket. I was grateful for the cover she gave me, this dress, if you could even call it that, left my skin exposed to the chill in the air.

After hanging a few sheets, I found myself singing.
"What are you singing?" Emalea asked.
"A song my mother used to sing to me when I was a baby." I smiled sweetly.
"It's beautiful, what language was it?" She asked.
"French, and funny you say that it's actually a sad song. About a man that loved a woman and how he missed he because she left him." I chuckled lightly at the thought of my mother singing me a sad song to sleep.
"Why would a sad song be a lullaby? Shouldn't they be happy songs?" she asked.
"Probably."
"Do you speak French? I don't speak any other languages. Low born means limited opportunity to access in stuff like that." She admitted.
I felt a sort of sadness, did low born vampires also struggle with access? Even human children have access to other languages.
"That's some bullshit." I answered flatly.
She chuckled half-heartedly "I lived in a small village on the outskirts of Russia, it was attacked by rogues one day and that's when I lost my parents, so me and a few other refugees migrated here after, to a start new."
I could hear the sadness in her voice speaking of her past. Growing up without parents must be rough, I couldn't imagine my childhood without my mother and father.
"I'm sorry, that really sucks."
"It's okay, a lot of people in the pack lost parents and loves ones to either rogues or The Full Moon Gala Massacre." She answered.
"Was that when the vampires came and attacked the CrystalBay Pack?" I asked shyly.
"Yes." She said flatly. I could tell she was weary of telling me about what happened.
"You know... Many of the pack members tried to assault my mother at school? Attacked my father and uncles to defend their right to try and assault her. The late Alpha Micheal of the CrystalBay Pack, he kidnapped my mother. He assaulted her, he tried to rape her. Tried to force her to marry him. The late Alpha King also took part in her assault and humiliation even gave the okay to marry my mother off to her kidnapper. And even after that she fought for the survivors of the pack to remain unharmed and called off the bloodshed the minute, she was able too." I paused and then dropped the bigger bomb "She was pregnant with me when they did that to her. When they stole her from her home, when they touched her, when they stripped her of her clothes, she was with child."
I was so focused on the blankets I didn't notice she had stopped dead in her tracks.
"What do you mean? What are you talking about?" Emalea sounded a bit defensive. Guess they don't tell the truth here, or at least the whole truth.
"That's why the vampires attacked. They kidnapped the maiden, a vampire princess and future queen. They killed one of my grandmothers when my Uncle Jeremy was just a child. They broke the treaty twice. And now it's happening all over again, because the Alpha King Kidnapped the Vampire Princess." I let the other half of the story sink in.
"Not justifying what happened. But war happens because people violate peace treaties. Whether it's night citizens or humans. When you break the terms of the treaty, numerous times, war was bound to happen." I wanted her to know I wasn't going to back down or tolerate anyone smearing my mother or acting like my people just attacked them for no reason.
"I didn't know any of that... Is that really true?" She asked in disbelief.
"Yeah... It's true... And it's happening again. Except this time, I don't think even my mothers mind abilities will let my father leave any survivors this time. And that scares me, honestly. Innocent people shouldn't pay the price because of the sins of their rulers. I just want to go home. I know, it won't happen, and I wonder if my parents will ever find me." A wave of sadness rolled over me. "Please don't tell anyone, it's not my story to share and I don't want the trouble of needing to defend my mother's trauma."
"I understand, it's a lot to take in for me, so it wouldn't be easy for others to accept that hard truth either. Your secret is safe with me. Listen, go get ready for dinner, I've got the rest of these blankets. I'm sure the Alpha King will want you for dinner." Emalea sounded so apologetic just now, like she was truly sorry about all of it.
"Thanks, I'm glad we did this and I'm just really happy to have a friend here. Even if she is a dog." I joked and winked at her.
She laughed "It's not bad being friends with a soul sucker."
Soul sucker, that's a new one. I kinda like it.
"You know what... I'm not offended, I kinda dig it." I laughed, "I'll see you later Em."
Her face lit up when I gave her a nickname.
"Bye Odette!" She yelled waving after me as I walked away.
Once I got inside, I took the servants corridors to the second level.
Suddenly someone grabs me and drags me into a room.
"Hello, Princess, nice to see you again." The voice belonged to Ezra, the guy I met earlier.
"Hello, can I help you?" I moved away from him and towards the center of the room, I didn't want to put myself in a position to corner him. I don't have my abilities, so handling him could prove challenging.
"You most definitely can. You see I have this problem, and I think I could use some help." His words were smooth, his voice was laced with hidden motive, and I could feel the lust radiating off him.
"Yeah, I don't I'm the person to help you." I was short and firm with my language.
"I think you are just the right person to help me, princess."
