Chapter 126: Chapter 126

I was standing on the rooftop right now, my heart racing as I observed the chaos unfolding from below. How did it come to this? My plan was simple: wait here, ambush Adrian, steal the crystal, and give it to Eldoria’s authorities.

But as usual, the plot changed. Rogues suddenly invaded the place and the Adrian that was supposed to be here multiplied and was now being chased by numerous people so I’m stuck here dumbfounded at how the situation quickly escalated.

"Which Adrian is holding the crystal right now?" I murmured to myself, using my ability to detect every movement. My eyes darted to the east where a Hero was in pursuit. He was fast and determined although the Adrian he was chasing right now doesn’t have the crystal with him.

My gaze shifted to the south where Thane, disguised as a Rogue, was running alongside with another Adrian. However, that Adrian didn’t have the crystal either.

Cursing softly under my breath, I continued to scan the chaotic scene below. Then I saw Kairos chasing another Adrian.

I zoomed on him as ten Rogues emerged from the shadows, surrounding Kairos with a menacing intent. But Kairos just effortlessly released countless of shadowy tendrils from his back as they quickly ensnared the Rogues, twisting them mercilessly and sucking out their life force.

Phantom Bind.

I felt a shudder run down my spine as I watched the his ability. That was only a small portion of his gift, and it was already destructive on a catastrophic scale.

After killing the last of the Rogues, Kairos continued to chase after Adrian. From now, he would easily steal the crystal from Adrian’s hands.

I stared at Adrian, who was still running away. My eyes narrowed as I watched him, my mind racing with thoughts of how to steal the crystal away from him but as I looked at him, I realized something that made my heart sink.

"This is bad..."

This Adrian didn’t have the crystal either. My head shook in frustration as I watched her disappear into the crowd. How could this be happening? Why were all these versions of Adrian running around, and none of them had the crystal?

"How many Adrians are there anyway?" I muttered to myself, my mind reeling with frustration. The situation was spiraling out of control, and I needed to think fast. I couldn’t let the crystal fall into the wrong hands or a different plot would occur.

I took a deep breath and focused my mind, using my ability ’Keen Sense’ to scan the area once more. This time, I expanded my range, trying to catch a glimpse of the crystal in a wider scope. My vision expanded thrice as much, and I could see everything with crystal clarity - even the smallest speck of dust.

But as I strained my senses, my head began to spin, and my eyes grew dizzy. I stumbled, struggling to navigate the overwhelming influx of information. The crystal’s glow stood out like a beacon, however, and I spotted it inside a fast-moving wrangler. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that the crystal was in a vehicle, and there was only one person inside it.

I tried to get a glimpse of who it was, but my eyes suddenly spurted out blood like a fountain and felt like they were on fire.

"Aaack! It burns!" I rolled down the ground, clutching at my stinging eyes. The pain was excruciating so I decided to stop using my ability.

I struggled to squint my eyes open while I jumped down from the rooftop to chase after the wrangler.

Thud!

As soon as I hit the ground, I frantically scanned my surroundings for a vehicle to chase after the wrangler. But all I saw was an old school bike leaning against a nearby wall.

"Seriously?" I let out a sigh of resignation. I’m in a high class location and all I saw was a worn-out bike?

Guess I had no choice but to spend some points to get ahead. I quickly opened up the system shop and bought rapid boots, hoping it would give me the speed and agility I needed to catch the wrangler before it got away.

I equipped my new boots, feeling the rush of energy surge through me, and without hesitation, I tore my dress at the hem to give myself greater freedom of movement. The fabric flew away, fluttering in the wind as I prepared to chase after that elusive wrangler.

"Follow me and evacuate in a calm manner!" I heard Cypher’s authoritative voice ringing out in the distance.

"Can you not push each other? You’re already outside so you’re all safe here!" Edge chimed in, his tone annoyed.

At that moment, I heard familiar voices. It was Cypher and Edge.

Panic rose in my chest as I recognized their voices. I quickly ducked low, not wanting them to catch sight of me and question my absence.

In an instant, I took off down the street, propelling myself forward on the old school bike. The rapid boots kicked in, amplifying my speed as I pedaled relentlessly. The wind whipped through my hair, and my heart raced with adrenaline. I could feel every muscle working in sync, the rhythm of my breathing steady even as the world blurred around me. In no time, I began to see the back of the wrangler.

Meanwhile, the torn fabric that Remillia had discarded fluttered through the air and landed at Cypher’s feet. He paused, glancing down at the delicate piece of cloth, his brow furrowing in confusion.

His instincts kicked in, and he looked up just in time to catch a fleeting glimpse of a woman on a bike speeding away from them.

"Remi?" he whispered, a flicker of concern flaring in his chest. Just as he started to take a step forward, a voice cut through his thoughts.

"Hey, don’t just stand there! We still have lots of civilians inside. I’m getting sick of them screaming right in front of my face." Edge’s tone was sharp and annoyed.

Cypher clenched his jaw and contemplated whether to chase Remillia or help the civilians.

After a brief moment of internal struggle, he shook his head, resolving to focus on the task at hand. "Let’s get this over with," he said in a serious voice, veering his attention back to Edge.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
I summoned every last ounce of energy and pedaled with reckless abandon, my legs pumping furiously as I closed in on the wrangler. As I drew near, I focused my mind and unleashed my spectral seal, enveloping the front of the bike in a shimmering aura of mana. Without any warning, I launched the bike at the wrangler, ramming it into the vehicle’s rear with incredible force.
CRASH! CLANG! PAK!
The impact was so tremendous that the wrangler rear’s end shooting upward, the vehicle overturning like a toy as it dashed out of control. The wrangler somersaulted through the air, its tires spinning wildly as it hurtled toward a nearby tree.
In most instances, the bike would have already been smashed to pieces but because I covered it with my mana, the bike is still at its same condition.
The force of the collision caused the back of the wrangler to shoot up. Overturned like a tin can, the wrangler barreled through the air and slammed into the trunk of a tree.
Anyone seeing this right now can’t believe that a worn-out managed to overturn a wrangler.
I let out a frustrated sigh, still catching my breath as I kicked the bike away from me. "I’m never gonna ride that kind of thing again! This is way harder than my normal workout!"
I approached the overturned wrangler as I pulled out one of my daggers, ready for any sudden movement.
Crrrk...
The driver’s seat door flung open, and a rogue crawled out, coughing and clutching a suitcase in one hand and glaring fiercely at me.
"You d@mn witch!" he spat, his voice thick with venom. "You’re so dead. I’ll have fun skinning you alive, just you wait."
I couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at his bravado. ’Where did his confidence come from?’ Just then, something shiny caught my eye in the distance. An aircraft was approaching rapidly, its engines roaring as it neared us. The rogue’s face lit up with a manic grin as he turned his gaze to the sky.
However, I simply whistled sharply, closing my eyes to focus as I mind-linked Macaron. ’It’s your turn.’
"O-Over here! Help! Over here!" the rogue yelled, desperation creeping into his voice. He even fired a flare gun into the air, the crimson light soaring upward to signal his ally.
I didn’t stop him; instead, I stood my ground and watched the Rogue shouting with glee as I waited the aircraft to come closer. The roar of its engines filled the air, drowning out the rogue’s shouts.
