"Good morning, sir. May I have a look at your wares?" She asked, watching as the old man raised his eyes from his newspaper. She could feel his scrutinising gaze.

This elderly trader was a unique NPC in the game. Usually appearing once every two days during the tournament. Obviously, his first appearance was today.

Her eyes then dropped from the old man's face, eyeing the boring display of his collection.

From cold medieval weapons that lacked fancy flairs to modern weapons that appear quite basic...

Lillian couldn't help but get excited at the thought of acquiring one of these "basic-looking" items.

She then drew her eyes back towards the old trader's face once she heard his voice. Her face couldn't help but twitch at his words.

"My... Wares...?"

His gaze was settled on the white-haired girl, who was filled with confusion as he scratched the back of his head with his right hand.

It was only then, when he took a look at his stand before him, that he finally recalled why he was here.

With a slow voice, he said:

"Oh, you wish to have a look at my wares despite their unattractive appearance?" He folded his newspaper and stroked his long beard, "Do go ahead... The name's Gruff, by the way."

Lillian nodded, "Nice to meet you, Mr Gruff." before moving off to the side and looking over what to pick.

While she was doing this, Millis moved up and asked the old man with a chirpy voice:

"Good morning~! Could I ask why ya are over in this part of the Bazaar instead of with the other traders? Surely, ya would get more customers, right?"

"You would think, right?" Gruff shook his head whilst stroking his beard as though it was a strong habit.

"These days, people are under the illusion that items with an imposing appearance would bring the greatest result."

Millis curiously thought about his statement before stroking her own chin, "But animals with an imposing appearance have a great result in whatever they are doing."

"Because animals have a purpose in being flashy and having dramatic appearances." He leaned over to the side, slowly reaching under his stool and pulling out a short walking stick.

Pushing himself off the stool and using the stick that had a minimalistic appearance, he got onto his feet.

"Items, besides some exceptions, aren't purposed to be all beautiful and good-looking. Sure, they may gather you some respect with their appearance, but that's about it."

He then moved over towards a plain steel sword, wrapping his fingers around the hilt and raising it.

He gave it a few short swings that seemed to resonate with the blade.

"In this day and age and even the past, the enchantment and skill you had with the item is all that matters."

"Hmm... Well, how about..."

As the two conversed more on this topic, Lillian, who was listening in to the side, couldn't help but let out a smile.

She moved her hand towards her neck, her fingers tracing over the silverish chain of her "Lucky" necklace.

Her necklace was simplistic in its design as well, despite being created from materials that could leave a craftsman offering his life and family a chance to use it.

Its simplistic design, however, didn't apply to its reality-manipulating enchantments.

She gave a proud snort before returning her gaze towards the elder's wares.

Maybe... She should get Marionette a gift as well.

"These are what you have chosen, hm?"

The old trader stroked his chin, eyeing the items Lillian had laid out before him.

What Lillian had picked out was a pair of chainmail gloves that were able to cover her entire forearm, a steel short sword, and a... Handgun?

Lillian felt quite satisfied with what she had picked out. Considering that she had bought these items once before in the game—the handgun being her favourite.

Holding her hand out, she grabbed ahold of the handgun and raised it to her eyes, inspecting its dimensions.

It had a long and silver elongated barrel with a polished and rugged stainless steel finish.

It had cylinders that were huge enough to accommodate rounds of what she remembered to be magnums.

On its back was an exposed hammer similar to the style of a revolver.

It also had a synthetic black grip with grooves for fingers to be placed on.

What she was currently holding and had researched for fun in the past was a Smith & Wesson Model 500.

This sort of handgun was primarily designed for large hunting games and to fend off bears. For a weapon that could kill an elephant, using it against an average "old Joe" was overkill."

But in a world like the one she was in now, it was going to need more firepower than the original design to take down monsters of much greater size and defences in the future.

She squinted her eyes at the gun, looking into its description.

===

[Item Name: Regular Handgun]

[Item Type: Weapon]

[Item Grade: D]

[Item Rank: 3]

[Item Description: A regular old Handgun with an odd past. Nothing truly special about it on the surface besides its above-average firepower.]

[Enchantment: Enhanced Durability, Limited, Restricted]

[Enhanced Durability: This Item is capable of handling more abuse]

[Limited: Something is restricting this Item's full potential. Only by figuring out and completing its requirements will this Item be able to shine.]

[Restricted: Upon use of the Item, you would feel as though you are restricted by something. To rid yourself of this feeling, you must first complete the requirements of the enchantment "Limited".]

Lillian snorted, 'Regular old handgun, my ass...'

Although what the Jester had said in its description was true, it had left out further details.

If Lillian were to recall correctly, if she were to be able to complete the set requirements for the Enchantment that seemed more like a curse, this handgun would dramatically jump in strength.

And by dramatically, she meant it would jump by a whole extra rank and tier. Wouldn't that place it on the same tier as the Fallen Knife that Marionette carried around?

Lillian tilted her head side-to-side, 'I don't think either of them would be the same... I think that knife of hers is still better in terms of secondary uses.'

She shook her head as she placed it to the side. It doesn't really matter, anyway. She would be giving this gun away to Marionette.

Although it was her favourite and highly illogical to give away such a powerful weapon to someone already much stronger, the thought of making the Assassin happy with her gift was stronger than anything.

She froze, scratching the back of her head.

'Man... I'm really head over heels aren't I?'

She smirked at her thought and looked towards the rest of her items. The ones she would actually be using.

And just like the handgun, they all had similar ranks, tiers, enchantments... Even the affixes beside their name are the same—all "Regular".

However, they did not all have the same restrictions placed upon it by the enchantment "Restricted."

This particular Enchantment was most definitely a curse, no matter how you saw it. Just by using the Item, you feel as though you are restricted.

'Higher the risk, the higher the rewards, right?' She let out a smile.

It was like those scenarios where a game would put penalties on you to make it much more challenging but rewarding at the same time.

But even so, despite the restrictions, she was willing to play the waiting game. Well... Just long enough to where she could rid her Items of the enchantment "Limited".

She already knew what was needed to unseal them anyway with her absolutely brilliant "memory", which allowed her to recall back to the forums.

She rubbed the side of her head with an uncertain expression, 'On the topic of memory... I feel like I've been forgetting a lot lately.'

As she thought more about it, she felt her mind grow just a bit foggier. Eventually, she came to the decision that she might have just gotten dumber over time in her new life.

"Ahum...!"

Snapping out of her thoughts, she drew her attention back towards the elderly trader, who had been trying to get her attention for a while now.

Ah... She forgot about his question.

"Oh-uh... Yeah, I'll be buying this, please."

The trader gave her an odd look before nodding. He then asked, "Are you certain of your decision? Considering you must have access to the Jester, you had already seen these Item's Enchantments, correct?"

Lillian shrugged with a cocky smile, "They're not much trouble anyway. I'll be fine."

The old man, Gruff, sighed, shaking his head. "Don't be cocky, or else you'll regret it."

"Why lecture when you are selling?"

"... Fair argument."

He then reached under the desk, albeit slowly. Lillian could even hear soft, popping noises from behind the stand.

She shivered. That wasn't his back, right?

He then straightened his back and pushed out a familiar-looking orb to her.

"Alright, put your hand on it. Let's check your affinity."
