Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System-Chapter 430: Unimaginable Grief
Turning around, the mysterious man's mood was more pleasant than when he came in.
However, that was when he noticed the Dissonants out of the corner of his eyes. His attention was particularly attracted by the huge meaty mass of metal, frozen stiff from fear.
A disgusted look formed on the mysterious man's face as he flicked his fingers. "Abominations."
"W-Wait—…"
The Dissonant Mothership wanted to plead for its life.
But the dead couldn't plead…
SPLURT—!
A shower of flesh and metal rained from the skies as the Dissonant Mothership flatlined. Its enormous body—from the half in the Ascension Tower and the half stuck in the Subatomic Void—had been mashed to oblivion.
Even the meat and metal that burst out of it quickly disintegrated by the will of the mysterious robed man.
Turning his glare on the rest of the Dissonants, the mysterious robed man blinked.
A blink. A hundred billion dead.
Just like that, the blood feud between Cassius and the Dissonants ended. And it wasn't even by his hands that they perished.
Most astonishing of all was that not a single trace of the Dissonants' existence remained. The skies were clear. There was no smell of death. And in an instant, an entire race had been exterminated.
"A bunch of harmful bacteria." The mysterious man clicked his tongue, wiping off his hand with a handkerchief so as to not leave himself dirtied. "This is what's wrong with these tiny isolated worlds. Even the white blood cells don't know how to properly do their jobs. To allow bacteria to evolve to the point of transforming into those abominations… I should go and eliminate the white blood cell worms myself."
"But first." He paused, returning his focus to the sleeping girl's parents. "I only need her to be alive. As for these other two…"
Tapping his index finger against the air, the mysterious man erased Adam and Lilia's physical bodies. All that remained were their humanoid souls, which looked to be peacefully sleeping in the fetal position.
"There—"
The mysterious man stopped speaking, his head turning in the direction of a massive burst of crimson aura. The aura pierced through Dimensions, followed by a furious roar that shook the heavens.
A figure who was half-broken and all demonic flickered through space. Appearing directly above the Arena of Yggdrasil, his face was twisted and distorted, bereft of any form of humanity.
But his power…
"It shouldn't be possible for a mere lowest-tier Mortal to possess strength such as yours." The mysterious man stroked his beard, not the least bit concerned about the bloody sword shooting straight for his head. "You're quite the interesting one. However…"
*Flick!*
"Abominations like you should all just die."
"!!!" "!!!"
"Cassiusss!!!"
Tears mixed with heart-wrenching cries as the girls closest to Cassius watched his body and soul get flicked into non-existence…
And yet their grief had no place to be released, for they couldn't even control their own bodies.
All they could do was stand and watch as the last bits of Cassius drifted to the void… freewebnøvel.coɱ
Even Mikaela and Amaris were affected by this devastating event. They bit their lips, despising themselves for being so useless.
Their daughters looked as if they'd lost everything—both their spirits and hearts shattered. And yet this only furthered the self-deprecation of the two mothers.
The Ascension Tower itself seemed to cry out in sorrow over Cassius Steele's death, casting a cloud of melancholy over everyone and everything.
Even the unconscious souls of Adam and Lilia produced a negative, almost agonizing reaction. As if by instinct, they could sense it. The true, permanent death of their baby boy.
'So he died in the end.' The Heavenly Father didn't feel much of anything upon realizing this, for it was the natural course for those weaker than another. 'His power exceeded even my own, but unlike him, I have nothing capable of making me lose control over my emotions.'
The Angels were his puppets, whereas Humanity was but a mere side project he started eons ago in order to create some entertainment for himself. Neither mattered to him.
Even under the immense pressure, he was able to move a few meters. After doing so, he cupped his fists toward the mysterious robed man.
"Little one pays his respects to Sir Immortal!"
"Hmm?" The mysterious man arched a brow.
The people of the Ascension Tower, on the other hand, were boiling over in anger. They cursed the Heavenly Progenitor both openly and inside their heads.
"...So you're the one who sent out that signal? Hmm, you also appear to have a little talent for the Dao of Cultivation." The mysterious man appraised while rubbing his beard. "I assume you did all this—even going so far as to betray your own people—because you want to ascend to the Cultivation Path?"
"Sir Immortal is as wise as he is powerful!"
The mysterious man nodded in approval. "You know when to bow your head, and you brought me to find this good thing, so I shall grant your wish," he said. "Even though your potential is considerably worse than what I usually take in, you can still be a slave of mine."
"!!!"
The Heavenly Father beamed, while everyone else cursed him even louder.
"Thank you very much, Sir Immortal!!" The Heavenly Father got on all fours and bowed at the lowest possible angle. "This one promises to serve you well and not bring disgrace to your noble name!"
The mysterious man gave another nod before snorting at all the sad omens.
"What a farce," he uttered, parting the gloomy clouds above. "If not for the lashback from amassing too much negative karma, I would kill every particle here and destroy the low-tier treasure. But since that would affect my future, I'll be sparing your insignificant lives this day. Be grateful, Mortals."
"Grateful…?"
Yimin and the other girls had never felt so much rage. Such indescribable anger. Hatred that surged from the depths of their souls, consuming all their thoughts and actions.
