The team's focus then shifted towards directing this icy barrage towards the centipede itself. The cold winds lashed out at the monstrous creature, encasing parts of its body in a layer of frost. The freezing effect slowly took hold, creating an initial layer of ice on the centipede's head.

However, the group soon faced an unexpected challenge as the centipede reacted swiftly to the onslaught. The beast, displaying a remarkable level of adaptability, burrowed its head underground, evading the freezing winds. Moments later, it resurfaced, breaking free from the encroaching ice and continuing its relentless advance.

"Use the lightning gloves!" Roan shouted.

Everyone lowered their left hand and raised their right hand, in the next moment, several lightning bolts flew and hit the monster, making it skin burn and emit a lot of smoke. The creature trembled all over, but soon, it disappeared underground.

"This isn't good… while it was effective, it couldn't paralyze the monster," Terra said. "The creature will always hide underground when it finds things difficult for itself."

Roan furrowed his eyebrows… he didn't need Rain's report to feel the trembling underground and tell that the monster was moving in circles, ready to attack them. In any case, while the beast was big, it was taking damage… it would take a while, but under the right conditions, they could kill it.

"I want half of you using the frozen gloves and the other half using the lightning gloves when that beast comes," Roan declared. "We need big attacks to sever the head of the monster and make it stop moving for good. While it will probably regenerate, we will gain more time to plan ahead." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Amidst the intense battle with the colossal centipede, Roan's command prompted a quick rearrangement of tactics within the team. As they prepared for the next phase of the confrontation, Rain recalled information from the relics regarding the formidable regenerative abilities of the first dragons.

"Listen up!" Rain's voice echoed in the area. "The first dragons, according to the relics, had insane regenerative abilities. The dragons we're facing here share similar traits, and they could also grow in size like the Leviathan dragons. However, it seems they can't manifest all those traits simultaneously. Some might have three or four of these abilities, but not all at once."

The revelation brought a momentary pause to the team's actions. The realization that they were dealing with creatures possessing multiple powerful traits added a layer of difficulty to the already challenging battle. The dragons' regenerative capabilities meant that even if they severed a part of the centipede, it might regenerate unless they neutralized its abilities.

The team understood the urgency of the situation and adjusted their elemental gloves accordingly. They are also equipped with scorching gloves to use as well; burn wounds heal a lot slower than ordinary wounds. While the lightning gloves could do the same thing, but the burn range was rather limited.

"It is coming!" Rain shouted.

Everyone felt trembling, and soon they used the Impulse to escape; before long, they saw the massive head of the monster emerging from the sand and then moved around, trying to hit anyone too slowly. Fortunately, no one was holding back, and with Impulse, they escaped the range of the attack completely… Rain grabbed the javelin to shock that monster a bit, but he was stopped.

"Wait, don't use me yet," Sakaki said. "The monster might escape if the attack isn't powerful enough."

"Ew, bad choice of words," Rain said.

"Wait until the beast is weakened a bit more," Sakaki added. "Once it gets used to other attacks, it will be easier to surprise it with our full power."

Sakaki had a point… they finally found the monster, and it would be a pain to chase it if it was determined to escape to the underground. Following Roan's orders, everyone pointed their hands at the monster and froze and shocked the beast… the ice increased the power of the lightning bolts, and the beast clearly trembled in pain.

However, it soon recovered from the surprise and opened its mouth while it was still spinning.

The colossal centipede revealed a new offensive ability that caught the team off guard. Green lances were shot out from its massive mouth, slicing through the air with incredible speed. The group barely had time to react as the lethal projectiles whizzed past them, narrowly avoiding a direct hit.

However, the relentless assault kept going, and the monstrous centipede persisted in firing the green lances at the team. Despite their agility and quick reflexes, some unfortunate members found themselves unable to dodge the relentless barrage. The green lances, initially appearing solid, soon revealed their true nature as they struck their targets.

Upon impact, the green lances began to disintegrate into a corrosive liquid, seeping into the suits. The corrosive substance started to dissolve the material, leaving visible marks on the affected areas. While the damage inflicted wasn't immediately severe, the corrosive nature of the liquid hinted at potential vulnerability. Two more hits on the same spots, and they would be in trouble.

"Ugh, it looks like this thing doesn't mind attacking like this for a while…" Roan said after he groaned in annoyance. "Liss! Decrease their numbers a bit."

"As if I can aim at so many of them at the same time…" Liss said, but she still pointed the dark scepter at the beast.

The green lances began to dissipate in the air, and her group found themselves free of the worries of being melted alive. Still, in the next moment, the monster stopped moving and then glared at her with its eyeless face…

"It sensed the power of the first dragons from Liss…" Rain muttered. "This might not be so good."

Terra and Roan realized the meaning of those words as well, so they had to be careful… since it was impossible to tell what the monster would do to get all of them. Still, imagining the worst case scenario was Rain's speciality.
