Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 82
The unexpected name made Yujin stop dead in his tracks, his eyes wide open in surprise. He had never dreamed that those words would come from that man’s mouth, so he just stared at him blankly. Winston silently watched him like that.
After what felt like a long moment, Yujin finally found his voice, blinking slowly with a dazed expression. Seeing this, Winston narrowed his eyes. Before Yujin realized that Winston was slowly crossing his legs, he finally spoke.
“...Who?”
His voice cracked pitifully, and Yujin hastily cleared his throat to steady it. Winston, who kept staring at him without moving, slowly moved his lips, fixating on Yujin’s faintly flushed cheeks and lips.
“Sam Brown. The police officer who was in charge of you.”
A short sigh escaped Yujin as he let his shoulders drop. He barely felt his mind turning again. Soon, exhaustion mixed with complicated emotions. Running his hand through his tired hair, he spoke.
“So?”
“What?”
Winston’s question made Yujin tilt his eyes as he sneered.
“You must be disappointed. You probably thought it was some guy you rolled around with again.”
Expecting a disgusted reaction, Yujin was surprised when Winston chuckled softly instead.
“Yeah, I was wrong.”
How was he supposed to take that?
Should he laugh or get angry? Yujin briefly debated, then gave up.
“What do you want to say? If you met Sam, you must already know everything.”
He stared at Winston with a displeased gaze, waiting. Winston uncrossed his legs and spoke.
“I didn’t hear it.”
Yujin frowned, and Winston slowly continued.
“I said I didn’t hear it. About that matter.”
His calm voice left no doubt. Realizing Winston had truly not heard anything, Yujin finally sighed in disbelief.
“Then why did you go that far? Did you just want to see what kind of scoundrel I rolled around with?”
“Sam told me to.”
Winston answered calmly despite his rough tone.
“He said it would be better to hear it directly from the person involved, and I agreed. Sam didn’t say anything.”
He was truly a pitiable child.
Winston recalled the middle-aged woman with a face full of sympathy who sighed as she spoke. She asked how Yujin was doing and checked on Angela, then smiled brightly and said, “I’m glad.”
How happy it was that the child was now living well...
“I don’t have much to say.”
Winston snapped back to reality at Yujin’s sharp voice. When he fixed his gaze, he met Yujin’s eyes full of displeasure.
“It’s exactly what you think. I slept with a man because I wanted to, stole money while he was asleep, and got caught. That’s it, right? You’re satisfied now, so I’ll go to ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) Angie.”
“Wait.”
Winston ordered, but Yujin ignored him. He jumped down from the bed and hurried across the room, but before reaching the door, Winston grabbed his arm first.
“Be honest. That’s not all, is it?”
His previously calm voice dropped to a threatening low. The grip on Yujin’s arm tightened, causing pain, and Yujin frowned involuntarily.
“What are you doing? Let go!”
He tried with all his might to shake him off, but it was useless. Winston grabbed the other arm as well. Forced to stand facing Winston, Yujin gave him his last act of defiance by glaring fiercely.
“Darling.”
Winston called out with a sigh. Unlike his usual sarcasm, his tone was somewhat disappointed as he continued.
“I’m trying to talk to you. Right now.”
“It’s too late.”
Yujin breathed heavily and spat out roughly.
“I already tried to explain to you. But you never even tried to listen. And now? Are you going to show mercy? I’m not thankful one bit.”
Winston tried to say something, but Yujin talked faster.
“Why did you go to see Sam in the first place? Wasn’t it to confirm that you were right? But then when you found out Sam’s a woman, you changed your mind? If Sam had been a man, you’d have been all cocky thinking you were right, huh? Keep believing that if you want, nothing will change how you think of me. I’ve already hit rock bottom because of you! Right down to the sewer bottom!”
Yujin shook his whole body, trying to get free.
Still unmoved, he bit Winston’s arm in a fit of anger.
“Auugh!”
Catching Winston off guard, Yujin quickly twisted and ran out of the room. Winston tried to follow, but at that moment, his phone rang loudly. Hesitating briefly, Winston checked it irritably and froze. It was a call from his secretary. With a short sigh, he answered, and the secretary began her report.
“...This afternoon, yes.”
She was indeed a capable secretary. Winston thought he should give her a special bonus for reporting so quickly and hung up. Putting the phone roughly into his pocket, he strode toward Angela’s room.
Taking a brief breath in the hallway, Winston knocked lightly and opened the door cautiously. Fortunately, Angela was still asleep. Seeing Yujin sitting by the bed and staring at the child in surprise and alertness, Winston stopped and spoke.
“I’m going to work now.”
His indifferent voice quietly continued.
“We’ll talk about this again after I get off. I’ll come back as early as possible.”
“I have nothing to say.”
Yujin whispered quietly to avoid waking the child. Winston stopped and looked at him as he was about to close the door.
“You’ll want to.”
Throwing out that strangely confident remark, he left. Yujin stared at the closed door in disbelief, then shook his head with a stunned sigh. He couldn’t believe he had once loved such an arrogant man.
Huuuu.
Only after watching Winston’s car leave the estate from the window did he breathe a deep sigh. Finally, he felt peace had come.
Unexpected visitors arrived for Yujin after lunch while he was walking in the garden with Angela. When the servant came looking for him, Yujin was curious and retraced his steps holding the child’s hand. Could it be Georgina or Charlotte? Those were the only two people likely to visit.
Could it be Mrs. Campbell...?
At the thought of that ominous name, his heart chilled, but he quickly shook his head. If that were the case, the servant would have said so. Then who?
He asked, but the servant only said, “You’ll know when you meet her.” Curious, Yujin headed to the reception room.
After a light knock, he cautiously opened the door, and at once, he froze at the sight inside. It was the very place where Mrs. Campbell and Gordon had treated him coldly on his first day back. At the time, he’d brushed off their shameful words and insults, but it seemed that corner of his heart still carried scars. With a trembling breath, he blinked to steady his gaze.
But those present were not them. Instead, one of the very few who had ever offered Yujin a warm hand in his life rose from the sofa. Yujin stared at her face, wide-eyed and speechless. She smiled brightly and spread her arms wide.
“Yujin, you’ve gotten even more beautiful. Angie, my goodness, you’ve grown so much.”
Though he heard her voice, it still felt unreal. Stumbling awkwardly, Yujin froze, but she approached first and gently embraced him. He felt the warmth and weight of her arms wrapping around him. Only then did reality strike, and his nose tingled with emotion. Tears welling up, he couldn’t help but break down, clutching her tightly.
“Sam...!”
