Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 54: The Oathbound(3)
Chapter 54 - The Oathbound(3)
[Chains of Umbra] I muttered, pointing towards him. The darkness beneath his feet shifted. Chains of pure shadows formed around him, wrapping his arms and legs. Putting him on hold.
*Ugh!* He grunted, pulling at his arms, trying to break free from the bindings that held him. *You think this will hold me back?*
"No, I don't think so. You will break free," I raised my hands, aiming towards the chandelier. Mana surged from my arm, amethyst lightning crackling around my palm. "But before that, let's see if you can dodge this, Sir Great Knight."
[Lightning Bolt]
Purple lightning shot out from my palm, crackling through the air as it made its way towards the white chandelier.
Booom!
The ceiling cracked, with lines of gaps forming on it. Small shards fell to the ground, and when the lines reached the Chandelier's hold—It snapped.
The whole thing came crashing down towards the knight, who struggled below.
Thruuuummmmm!
Crassssh!
Ice shards flew everywhere. I raised my arms over my face, trying to avoid the sharpness. But they still clung to my clothes and armour. Few went past my guard, scratching my cheek and visible skin.
But the pain was bearable.
Dust clouded the entire room, but the chandelier's silhouette was visible inside it. From it, cracks on the ground. They stopped right below my feet.
But seeing this, I did not relax. Holding my blade even more tightly, my eyes narrowed at the silhouette.
Any time now...
And my wariness was indeed right—
Blue and white flames erupted from the smoke, freezing the particles mid-air. Blue orbs that burned with duty looked at me, which made a shiver run down my spine, making me instinctively back away.
The dust settled as its remaining particles froze, falling to the floor with small crinkling noises. His frame shifted below the huge weight above him.
The chandelier—Now frozen—crumpled with a touch of his hand.
And then he stood. His armour shattered at the arms, shoulders and chest, making his rotten flesh spill out. His halberd now burned with frostfire, completely enveloping it.
His helm, half-shattered, revealed a skull with dent, his teeth gnarly. His entire aura was that of a cold so frigid that it seemed like it would freeze my blood, turn my breath into small ice crystals.
[Chains of Umbra]! I shouted, and chains of darkness emerged from his feet again, trying to wrap around his body.
But.
*You think you can bind me again?*
The shadows that shifted beneath his feet froze, and with a flick of his finger, they shattered.
Huh?! Did he just? My eyes widened at the sudden dismissal of my bind.
He stepped towards me—each hitting the ground with a thudding noise.
His halberd, which was covered in frostfire, spun in his right hand. His eyes never wavering, stayed on me.
Then he vanished...
I blinked my eyes, my head turning violently, trying to make out where he had disappeared. A nauseating feeling rampaged inside me.
Where did he go?!
[Noah, behi—]
Before Dante could finish his words, a sharp and cold pain surged in my back. My body flew forward, towards the wall of ice, hitting it with a sickening sound.
Pain spread across my back and face, as the taste of blood filled my mouth. I stepped back, my eyes landed on the crack that formed due to the impact of the hit.
"Cough, cough, Fuck."
My fingers stung with cold, the blood on my cheek frozen. My whole being felt numb, covered in frost created from the strike.
Gathering my strength, I whipped around. Trying to make out Arvax's position.
He was standing still, his eyes scanning me. Seeing if I can even fight him anymore. His steps were neutral—Not too hasty, not too deliberately slow.
He was walking as if it were a casual park walk for him.
*Is that all you could do? Just drop a huge thing over me and think it was finished?* He seemed disappointed. *It is truly sad, I thought you had more in you...*
He readied his halberd for another strike, and frostfire erupted from his back, taking the form of two wings. *But alas, you were just a child.*
He charged, his blue wings of flame flapping. Cutting through the air with an unimaginable speed. His halberd moved in a wide horizontal arc, trying to swipe me clean.
[Voltstep] My body blitzed in a purple flash, avoiding his strike. Landing behind him, I wrapped my blade in a silver aura. Purple lightning crackling around me.
[Stormstride] I moved towards him with a burst of speed, my blade ready for a strike to his back.
But before I could strike, he turned around. Blue blades of flame forming behind.
*You still have some tricks up your sleeve, but...* He raised his hands towards me. The blades behind me straightened—Their tips pointed at me. *So do I.*
The blue blades lunged.
All of them.
Heading for me, targeting me.
My jaw tightened, hands trembling from the cold numbness that wrapped my body. Clutching my sword tightly, I moved, my speed increasing every step that thundered across the crystal floor.
Dodging the rain of blades, I made my way towards Arvax. More blades were floating behind, increasing in number each passing second.
Six?
Seven?
Ten?
I don't know how many he created, my eyes were only focused on him—His chest, where his mana core resided.
I have to shatter it.

He threw more of his blue blades at me, but I moved between them. Few grazed me, forming a crystal of frost on my arms.
*You can dodge well,* He shifted his halberd back, its crescent blade coiling with blue flame. *But dodge this.*
Whooosh!
I ducked below the swing, the blade forming an arc of blue in the air as it swiped. Positioning the tip of my blade to his core.
I pushed it.
*Slow.*
His free hand shot out, grabbing my blade mid-thrust. My hands trembled, trying to free my sword.
But it was futile.
*You shall be grateful, child.* His blue orbs bored into me, his palms clasping my blade hard enough that frost started gathering on it. *No one made me use my second form for a long time.*
And then it shattered.
The sharp tip of the blade fell onto the floor, breaking into millions of pieces.
My one and only blade.
Given to me by Micheal.
My eyes widened, my mind screamed at me to back away. My heart pumped with a speed so fast that it seemed impossible.
Everything around me slowed.
Or seemed like it.
But then pain shot through my stomach as if someone had hit me with the force of a truck. My eyes blurred, and the broken sword fell from my grip as my body recoiled back.
My head felt light, and all I could make out was my body, which seemed like it was flying.
Thud!
"Cough, cough,"
My back hit a cold surface, making the pain even more unbearable. Every breath I took made a sharp pain run through my chest as if something sharp was stuck inside my lungs.
[Noah!! Hold it—Fuck, I can't appear now. I don't have eno...]
Dante's panicking voice rang inside my head, but even that seemed like it was being muffled.
Dante?
[Hey! Hey! Stay with me. Croft! The situation?!]
"Haha," I chuckled. Pressing my hands against the wall, I stood up. My legs felt like they would give out any second now. "I am not done yet."
[Shadow Forge] I muttered, the darkness beneath my feet shifted, creating the replica of the blade I had just lost.
*That is some willpower you have, child.* Arvax praised, his wings of flame spreading behind his back.
But that did not matter to me.
It was just some compliment I did not care about.
All I cared about was getting that fucking root.
Dante, I called out to him, readying my dark blade.
[Noah—]
I am using that technique.
[No! In this condition, your mana circuits might burst with the unstable energy]
But there is no other way...
