Barry was still shouting, attracting the attention of everyone at the dinner, and he even called out Beck’s name by his full name.
Seeing everyone looking at him, Beck knew that if he didn’t respond, the media might fabricate some stories.
He smiled slightly, walked over, and reproached the waiters: “How can you be so rude to an old man?”
The waiters were in a difficult position but released Barry.
Barry straightened his clothes and then looked at Beck, saying, “Dr. Beck, let me introduce myself, my name is Barry, an ocean biologist specializing in Mutant Creatures.”
Beck nodded, signaling him to continue.
“I saw in the news that you are a hot figure in the scientific community and a guest of honor among those big shots. Compared to me, a nobody, you are someone who can truly influence society.” Barry’s words seemed to please Beck.
“So I have a request.” Barry handed him a document, saying, “This is the result of my painstaking research, it contains information about Mutant Creatures.”
He said solemnly, “Mutant Creatures are far more terrifying than those damned media and show-offs say. They will take over the entire ecosystem of Blue Star, they possess high intelligence, no less than humans!”
“I hope you will seriously study it and publish this report to warn the decision-makers, they must take action immediately! Otherwise, humanity is in danger of extinction!”
Hearing Barry’s words, there was a moment of surprise among the audience, followed by Rodney’s laughter, he laughed saying, “Beck, I told you, he’s just a delusional man, crazy for fame! Ignore him!”
“Ha ha ha ha!” The people at the party also laughed.
“And high intelligence organisms, on Blue Star only humans are the highest!”
“I thought he was really some expert, turns out he’s just a madman!”
“In this day and age, there really are all sorts of people!”
“A clown, seeking attention!”
Beck laughed, took the document from Barry, and said with a mocking tone, “Alright, now I know about this.”
“Give Mr. Barry a dinner, this poor old man probably hasn’t filled his belly yet.”
Saying this, he signaled the waiters to take Barry away.
Barry shouted, “You must read it carefully!”
People were still laughing, and Barry disdainfully said, “When the crisis erupts, you will know who is ignorant!”
He was pushed out of the party, Rodney called out, “There was a little incident, don’t let it affect everyone’s mood, let’s continue!”
The band resumed playing, people continued dancing, socializing.
Meanwhile, Beck casually handed the document to his attendant.
“Sir, should this be kept?” the attendant asked.
Beck whispered angrily, “Are you mad too? Believe in the end of the world? Burn it.”
“Yes, sir!” The attendant immediately complied.
Beck’s attention was completely captured by the glamorous movie star Bella.
“Dr. Beck, I’m delighted to meet you. I am immensely impressed by your contributions to science!” Bella and he kissed each other on the cheeks.
“Miss Bella, even more beautiful than I’ve seen in the movies!” Beck smiled, knowing he was in for a beautiful rendezvous tonight!
…
After being driven out, Barry got into his old car and headed home.
After several hours’ drive, he arrived at an old house located in the suburbs.
It was very quiet around; only his home was there. Barry had specifically swapped his former property for this place because it was unvisited.
The house was sparsely furnished, looking like a lonely old man’s dwelling.
Barry locked the doors and windows, pushed open the fireplace to reveal a passage, and went down it to a spacious underground lab with various Biology research instruments.
“You’re back, seeing your dirty appearance, you must have failed again?” a voice echoed in his ears, but there was no one in the room, just an Amazon parrot with highly developed vocal organs, capable of mimicking human speech.
It was locked in a cage, unable to come out.
“Hmph, those shortsighted people!” Barry thought of his experience and was still resentful, he had thought Beck was a selfless, far-sighted scientist—at least that’s what the media reported.
But it turned out he was just a hypocrite, given his earlier attitude, Barry was sure, he would not look at his research report.
“Gurgle gurgle gurgle…” the parrot tilted its head, danced in the cage, making a mocking sound.
This angered Barry, who scolded, “You damned thing, be careful or I’ll stew you for meat!”

“Gurgle gurgle gurgle!” the parrot said indifferently, “As long as you’re happy, just don’t be afraid of me parasitizing your brain!”
This parrot was not a normal parrot; in its brain was a “white alien worm” Barry had dissected from a Mutant Creature’s brain last year.
After research, Barry discovered that this was a kind of worm never before seen on Blue Star; the minute stiff hairs covering its body were actually biological tissues controlling the nervous system, capable of parasitizing the brains of living creatures, controlling their actions.
What’s more terrifying was that it possessed high intelligence, even smarter than a human brain!
This creature quickly mastered human language, could read human books, browse the internet, and use smart products like mobile phones and computers!
