Legendary Beast Master: Starting with Contracting SSS Rank Dragon-Chapter 46: I Prefer Cutie
Chapter 46: I Prefer Cutie
In the distance, Kael could see a peculiar structure made above the ever-flowing lava lake. It was made from dark bricks that he recognised as Racks, a special heat-resistant stone.
The Nether Fortress was very big, with many stone bridges connecting it to the mainland land, and there were also many monsters wandering around it.
It was somehow different from how he remembered it, but that was natural, as Tharnyx had taken inspiration from the game—not entirely copied it.
’Well, heavy inspiration.’
He turned around and told Kiona, "I found the perfect farming location. I’m sure there are some spawners inside the fortress, and that’s what we came here for."
Although Kiona didn’t understand what a Spawner was, she didn’t question. She just nodded and said, "It looks dangerous, so should we go back and reunite with Jon and Seth?"
"That’s what I was thinking," Kael nodded. "It’s been almost half an hour anyway, so it’ll take some time before we reach there."
Kael had Alpha remember the location and make a map so they don’t get lost in this vast hilly area. Then, they went back using that map towards the entrance.
After almost half an hour, they reached the base of the stone bridge from where they had crossed the lava lake, but the twins weren’t in sight.
"Let’s wait for a few minutes," Kael said. "They probably found something or can’t find the way back here."
The two of them sat in silence, with Kael having his [Beast Sense] permanently on so they remained safe.
"Master, which tribe do you want to conquer first?" Kiona asked.
"The one closest to us," Kael answered. "But it also depends on their strength and the way they live. I don’t want to fight unless necessary because it creates unnecessary rifts, especially if we want them to be under us."
He shook his head and said, "But before all that, we need to make sure our living conditions are good."
"I think you should leave those stuff to your subordinates," Kiona suggested. "There are many beasts who specialize in other things rather than strength. They aren’t liked by their tribes often because most beast tribes work on strength alone. They don’t seek to develop themselves a lot."
"Is it because of their hatred towards other races?" Kael asked, and upon seeing her nod her head, added, "That’s a stupid way of thinking then. Just because their enemies live that way, they would prefer living like primitives."
"That’s not the entire reason," Kiona shook her head. "Other races, especially humans, target any tribe that grows too big. Even other beasts who detest humans target them, using the excuse that they are trying to live like humans."
She smiled wryly and said, "Most beasts don’t have humanoid form and also prefer using the old-fashioned way of living in jungles."
"Their ancestors would be so disappointed," Kael sighed. "I’m sure Tharnyx at least believed completely differently."
"Yes, and I do too," Kiona smiled. "I always believed that we beasts should have the better civilization. Why follow in humans’ footsteps if we can go beyond them?"
"That’s true."
"So, what I was saying is that you can use these beasts who aren’t valued by their tribes to make our nation. You can focus on other important aspects."
Kael nodded in agreement. If he had capable subordinates, then why should he work everything on his own? Besides, there were many things he wasn’t good at, so it was better to give them to someone who understands them well.
Like the housing or farming, which he didn’t understand, so he had planned to ask Alpha to do that. But Kiona’s suggestion was also good.
He cast a side glance at her and asked, "What are you good at then?"
She blushed in embarrassment and looked away. Her tail brushed behind her, affected by her embarrassment too, which made his lips unconsciously curl up as he thought, ’Damn cute!’
Her ears dropped as she said in a low voice, "I can fight your battles."
"Hehe, so does that mean you don’t have any other qualities?" Kael teased her.
"No! I know a lot about other beasts. In fact, I know about the majority of the beast races of the Valoran Wilds," she said confidently after turning towards him.
Her ears stood straight along with her tail, as if she was looking for approval. She added, seeing his surprised expression, "My teacher was an Elf who liked to travel around and record the various things of the world."
"An Elf?" Kael raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Don’t you guys practically hate everyone?"
"Most do, but Elves come on the neutral side," she shook her head. "They also like to live in nature like us and usually keep their affairs to themselves. They rarely meddle with others, so even other races don’t have a problem with them."
’A peaceful Elf race? Why do I find it hard to believe?’ Kael thought. Although he had read many books depicting Elves as the peaceful, nature-loving race, he doubted they were that peaceful.
’Probably some elitists thinking their race is supreme, so they don’t want to interact with others to avoid contamination.’
He was going to say something, but sensed two beasts entering his range and turned around. The two giant lions came running towards them, shaking the ground around them with each of their steps.
"Dayum! I’ll feel bad when I help them evolve," Kael muttered. "They look so majestic, right?"
When Kiona didn’t answer, he turned to look at her and found her pouting. He chuckled seeing it and pinched her cheeks, "But I prefer a cutie."
Her pout melted away as she asked in doubt, "Really?"
"Who am I exploring more with?" He winked at her and stood up, leaving Kiona full of smiles.
Seth stopped before him and said, "Master, we found something but couldn’t immediately get out of there so we were late. We are sorry." freёwebnoѵel.com
Jon also hung his head down.
Kael waved his hand and said, "Don’t fret over small details. Tell me, what did you find?"
"It was a strange cleave in two hills, and when we entered to explore it, we found four giant spiders there. Naturally, we killed them, but then more of them came, and it seemed as if there was no end to them, so we retreated," Seth recounted his experience.
"We thought it’s better to consult you first before engaging them properly."
An excited glint passed through Kael’s eyes as he said, "You two are really lucky, you know. I don’t think finding spawners aside from the main base is normal."
"Spawner?" Jon tilted his head. "What is that?"
"Just as the name suggests, it spawns monsters of the same type and same rank endlessly," he explained. "It just needs some cooldown after a certain number of spawns, and then it’ll produce the monsters continuously."
"But weren’t the monsters supposed to be made again at the reset time of the floor?" Kiona asked.
"Yes, but spawners are an exception. That’s why I said they’re very lucky," Kael smiled. "What were their ranks again?"
"E-Rank," Jon answered.
"We struck gold!" Kael said, as he jumped on Seth. "Take us there so I can be sure of my guess. If you’re right, then we really have struck gold."
