Carnivorous animals have smaller incisors, and their canines are strong and sharp, suitable for killing and tearing prey; their molars have sharp edges. The last premolar on the upper jaw and the lower jaw's molar meet like scissors, becoming carnassial teeth, suitable for cutting through animal bones, cartilages, and tendons.

Herbivorous animals have duller teeth than carnivores. Their incisors are broad, some lack incisors altogether, but the gum area where their incisors should be is tough, acting as a substitute for incisors. Their molars are broad and their surfaces uneven. These features help in cutting and grinding plant stems and leaves.

"To put it simply, the front half of an herbivorous animal's teeth look like planks—neat and aligned, yet very sharp. A bite into a clump of grass leaves a trace as if it has been cropped by a razor blade."

"You've probably seen some horses or donkeys on the internet gaping wide to reveal teeth similar to those of humans', looking naive and silly—that's not photoshopped; it's indeed the case."

"But camels are different," Bi Fang pointed at the shrubbery in front of him; clearly, the bite marks were not neatly cropped as he had just described but were haphazard and uneven.

"Camels have incisors that are all fangs, both upper and lower, and the first premolars on the lower jaw are also canine-shaped, which is an extremely unique exception among ruminants."

People usually think that only carnivorous animals have canines, which is actually a misconception stemming from the fact that humans' own canines are highly degenerated, almost invisible.

So, it's easy to mistakenly assume that non-carnivorous animals have degenerated canines as well.

In reality, there are herbivores with canines, albeit few.

But to have six pairs of upper and lower canines, including the first premolars, and completely lack normal incisors—only camels are so unique.

Even camel teeth are sometimes processed, with the crown and root junction polished, to create imitation tiger teeth for sale.

Thus, grasses bitten by camels tend to be rather "sparse."

"A good start, a reward within half an hour of appearing."

Bi Fang stood up, brushed the sand off his shoulders, and walked towards the distance.

Among domesticated herbivores, camels might be the most ferocious and frightening.

The biting power of a camel's canines is comparable to that of a leopard and has surpassed that of the spotted hyena; they can easily penetrate the human thoracic and abdominal walls, causing damage to internal organs or bones.

Once they bite down hard on a person's neck, with the four large canines sinking into the flesh, and by using the eight cone-shaped incisors to give a few violent shakes, they can tear off the person's head.

"In 2016, such an incident occurred in Northern Rajasthan's Palodi Town," he continued.

"The local temperature rose above 50 degrees Celsius. The camel's owner had tied the camel outside without any shade or water, and then he went to visit a friend."

"By the time the owner returned from his visit and tried to untie the camel's reins, the camel suddenly flew into a rage, bit the man's neck, shook violently, and eventually tore off his head."

"In 2017, a 26-year-old man in the United Arab Emirates was bitten by a camel while feeding it, resulting in perforation of the intestines and comminuted fractures of the lumbar vertebrae."

"Even this year, a camel in a zoo, aggrieved by a long time of drinking polluted water, attacked humans. According to witnesses, the attacking camel cornered two victims, flipped them over with its mouth, kicked them with its legs, and then knelt on them, crushing their ribs with its knees."

[Let's do it]

[I went to Mongolia last year and rode a camel. They seemed so cute at the time (covers face)]

[Indeed, I've ridden one too and never imagined they could be so ferocious.]

"Theoretically, in domesticated animals, those with higher intelligence are less likely to harm humans."

[Why does my kitty scratch me every day?]

[Is it possible that the kitty isn't fully domesticated?]

[Ahh that]

"Among livestock raised by humans, pigs and cows are among the more intelligent and thus rarely attack people."

"On the contrary, sheep have a lower IQ and tend to attack humans more often, but because of their smaller size, many of their attacks don't get taken seriously."

"Among incidents of herbivores attacking humans, the most troublesome thing is that they usually appear meek and harmless, yet the damage occurs suddenly."

"These lower-IQ animals are particularly dangerous because their behavioral logic is hard to grasp. However, camels actually have a high IQ; their danger actually stems from another trait, which is holding grudges."

[Wow, another eye-opening day.]

[Is this what they call a good memory?]

[Camel Diary: June 13th, my master slapped me, and my anger gauge permanently increased by one.]

[So what was that Naked Choke by Master Fang? (scratches head)]

[Camels among themselves are different (Dog's head).]

[There are so many gnawed bushes around here, does that mean we're getting close?]

Bi Fang looked at the traces on the ground and, after pinching them, realized that this was indeed the case. The breakage of plants that had just been bitten differed completely from those that had been bitten half a day or even more than a day before in terms of freshness and wilting.

The severed stems here were even oozing green sap, which clearly meant that herbivorous animals had visited within the last half-hour.

The sandstorm was quite strong today, and there weren't many footprints on the ground. After running for another quarter of an hour, Bi Fang finally found continuous clues.

"The footprints are jumbled, it looks like more than one, probably three, and maybe there's also a young camel."

Bi Fang examined the footprints on the ground carefully.

"Camels generally live in groups and family units during the summer. Come fall, they start forming groups of five or six, or about twenty, and sometimes even more than a hundred."

"When wandering through the desert, the adult camels walk in front and behind, while the young camels are placed in the middle, often following a few fixed routes for foraging and drinking, known as 'camel tracks'."

"Now that it is summer, a group of three probably indicates a normal family structure, two adult camels and one young camel."

Bi Fang flexed his fingers and pulled out a rope from his backpack.

Although there were three of them, he didn't feel they were invincible. It was precisely because he was familiar with camel habits that Bi Fang was prepared.

Camels were much larger than humans, but in a melee, being smaller could actually be an advantage if one could get close enough.

Following the tracks on the ground, Bi Fang finally spotted three dromedary camels in the distance. Despite the open terrain that was completely unsuitable for capture.

[Let's do it. Let's do it.]

[No conditions, brother. Old Fang can't teleport.]

[What to do? If it were one, we could sneak up, but three have no blind spots in their vision, right?]

[Indeed, this place is too flat.]

"Don't worry, finding them doesn't mean we have to act right away. It's just noon, and we have plenty of time. The sun is quite harsh today, and the camels will definitely look for a place to rest. That will be our opportunity,"

Just as Bi Fang was thinking of getting closer, he hadn't walked far when he noticed something off about the three camels' behavior. The young camel seemed particularly panicked, occasionally lifting its forehooves.

Noticing this, Bi Fang narrowed his eyes and then realized that beneath the huge bodies of the camels, a dozen or so grey-brown wolves had already surrounded them in a tight circle, engaged in a tense standoff.

New novel chapt𝒆rs are published on ƒгeewebnovёl.com.

Because the wolves' fur color was too similar to the sandy ground, and their size was smaller compared to the camels, they were indistinguishable from the land at a distance, and Bi Fang, distracted by the camels, hadn't noticed them at first glance!
