Chapter 47: Confrontation

Dominic rushed to the bathroom area with a panicked look on his face.

He had received a call from the prison that his son Maximilian had come to the prison with a gun. At first, Dominic didn’t think much of it as it was usual for Maximilian to come to the prison from time to time and participate in the night killing.

But then, they informed Dominic that Xavier was voted for today. And at that moment, Dominic’s life flashed before his eyes.

He could have yelled at them for causing such a blunder, but that wouldn’t have solved anything. He was on his way to the prison with the fake evidence, so he got there in a few minutes. He had ordered the officers to stop the killing and prevent the prisoners from killing Xavier, no matter what happens, even if they had to shoot them.

When he got there, he was told by the officers that Bull, Maximilian and Xavier were locked inside the bathroom, and they couldn’t open the metal door. Since it was just a normal door with no technology behind it, it could only be opened with brute force.

Dominic called in some bots and got it opened.

"Stay back!"

Dominic and the officers barged inside as soon as the door fell. As the dust and smoke settled, they saw Xavier holding a gun with blood all over his body and the floor. Bull’s headless body was on the floor and his head was smothered into small pieces of meat and metal.

Maximilian sitting in shock and fear a few feet away from them.

"What’s going on here?!" Dominic yelled as his officers surrounded Xavier.

Xavier immediately pointed the gun at Maximilian and glared at Dominic.

"What do you think you are doing?" Dominic shouted.

"That’s what I want to ask you. What’s going on? Did you plan to get me killed?"

"This is all a misunderstanding!"

"Then tell you officers to put down their guns and get out of here in the next three seconds. I don’t care if I die, but I will make sure to take your shitty son with me."

"Okay! You have to put your gun down as well." Dominic ordered his officers. "Leave this place. Now!"

The officers glanced at each other’s faces and hesitantly left the bathroom.

Now, only Xavier, Dominic, Maximilian, and the remains of Bull were present in the room.

"Xavier, put your gun down." Dominic said to Xavier.

"You first!"

Dominic was reluctant, but he had no choice but to obey Xavier’s command. He put the gun on the floor and raised his hands up.

"Kick the gun away," Xavier ordered.

Dominic kicked the gun to the far corner of the room.

Xavier let out a sigh and threw his gun in the corner as well.

Immediately, Dominic rushed in to check on Maximilian to make sure he was alright.

Maximilian was in shock and trembling in fear. For the first time, he was scared of something. When he woke up, he saw Xavier shoot Bull in the head and he realized that Xavier was going to kill him next.

"What do you think you were doing?!" Dominic glared at Xavier. "You were going to shoot him!"

"I wasn’t." Xavier responded casually. "I just pointed my gun at him because you and your officers pointed their guns at me. It was a natural course of action." After a brief pause, he added, "A survival instinct, you could say."

Dominic then looked at Bull and his face twisted in anger. "Did you kill him?!"

"I did. He tried to kill me, so I grabbed the gun and shot him instead." He responded with a shoulder shrug. "He probably thought I was weak and meek and wouldn’t be able to do anything."

"Do you even realize what you have done?! We needed to keep him alive! He was an important prisoner!" Dominic kept shouting at Xavier as though he was about to kill him at any given moment.

"Oy." Xavier frowned. "Stop shouting, you cunt! Why are you yelling at me, huh? Did I ask them to bring me here? Did I ask your son to come here? Did I ask him to bring a gun?"

"..." Dominic felt silent and all his anger from before vanished into thin air.

"I am the one who should be yelling at you! Even after our deal, you messed up the arrangements. What do you think would have happened if I was killed by your son or Bull?"

Xavier walked to Dominic and moved his face closer, glaring him right into his eyes.

"You were almost finished! You should be thanking me instead! So what if you lost an important prisoner? Was he more important than your son and your career?"

Dominic once again glanced at Bull’s headless body. ’Dammit! His head exploded. We can’t use his brain either. Well, I will just have to pay the client his money back.’

"Did he..." He looked at Xavier. "Did he tell you anything before you killed him?" He asked with a curious look on his face.

"Yeah..." Xavier recalled everything Bull had told him before he killed him. "He said ’Once I am done with you, I am gonna fuck this bastard too!’ and then slammed me on the floor. Immediately, I grabbed the gun and pressed the trigger."

"I see..."

"I am not in trouble, right?" Xavier asked, hiding his expression behind his face.

"No... it’s fine. I will handle everything. I will just say everyone ganged up on him."

"That’s good to hear. Otherwise, your son would have had to take my blame. It was all his fault, after all." Xavier glanced at Maximilian— who was still trembling in fear— and smirked from the corner of his lips.

"Well, let’s leave now. I will start the procedure to free you." Dominic then turned to Maximilian and said, "And you, wait in my car. We are going to have a long talk on the way home."

After saying that, Dominic left.

Maximilian slowly got up and moved to pick up his phone from the floor. But before he could grab it, Xavier picked it up. He stopped the recording Maximilian had started, and then deleted it.

"Here." He handed the phone to Maximilian and whispered in his ears. "It’s a shame that I couldn’t kill you today. But don’t worry, I promise, the next time we meet each other, it will be your last day. And I fulfill my promise."

Xavier tapped on Maximilian’s shoulder and walked past him after saying, "Oh! And look forward to my text. I am going to send you something you will greatly enjoy. Because I did too."

After saying that, Xavier left the room and followed Dominic.

Xavier was taken to Dominic’s office, where he signed off Xavier from all the charges. And submitted the fake evidence.

"You are free to go now." Dominic said to Xavier.

Usually, one would dash off right away, but Xavier remained seated.

"I said you are free to go."

"Did you forget my second order?" Xavier said ’order’ instead of ’request’ as it seemed more fitting to him. "Also, I have my third order ready."
