Chapter 78: Chapter 78: New record
In the white room, two figures could be seen exchanging blows, but it wasn’t a fair fight rather it was a one-sided beating.
Then Jakol threw a punch, but his opponent which is Jeff dodged it with ease. In the blink of an eye, Jakol kicked him in the side, but he managed to use his arms to block the attack.
His feet skidded across the ground, and as he glanced up, he saw Jakol suspended mid-air.
The instructor’s kick was coming at him with full force, aimed directly at his blocked arm, ready to shatter his defense.
He gritted his teeth, planting himself firmly to brace for the impact. But then, something clicked in his mind.
He lowered himself just in time, dodging the attack.
As he ducked low, the kick sliced inches above his head, brushing the air with terrifying force.
His heart pounded as he felt the raw power of the strike, but this time, he wasn’t paralyzed by fear.
His eyes, that was sharper than ever, locked onto Jakol’s movements. His reactions were clean, precise, as the adrenaline sharpening his focus to a razor’s edge.
He moved quickly as Jakol followed through, shifting with him, pivoting to keep the distance. Then, another strike came and this time, it was a straight jab.
Jeff raised his arms just in time, the blow glancing off his forearm instead of hitting his face.
The force of the collision rattled his bones, but he held firmly, refusing to let the impact throw him off balance.
With that, he took another step, making a quick dodge. He slid back, bending low as he raised his elbow to intercept a sudden swing, preparing for the next move in the relentless dance of combat.
"I can read it. I’m starting to read it" he said with excitement in his mind.
Then Jakol’s movement tore through the air with terrifying grace, but Jeff was beginning to feel the rhythm behind them
Its angle, the pressure and the setups. He could dodge it and if not, he can block it.
Even though each one of those still shook him to his core, while some of it sent him flying back or crashing to the ground.
But he wasn’t breaking making him smiled, but when he was just starting to feel happy Jakol vanished.
His eyes widened, he was caught off guard by the sudden disappearance, as he quickly enhances his senses, but it was too late.
A sudden force struck the back of his leg, causing his knee to buckle. But he twisted mid-fall, trying to regain control.
But Jakol had appeared behind him in a low stance, sweeping him from underneath. Before Jeff could even process the motion, a rising palm caught him midair.
The blow slammed into his chest with brutal force, launching him backward like a missile. He felt the air rush past him as he flew through the air, crashing to the ground in a heap.
He hit the floor hard in a bounced as he rolled, coughing as pain screamed through his ribs.
Gasping for air, Jeff stared up at the ceiling, battered and sore, but not broken in spirit.
"I was catching up, but he changed it again." he said with a wry smile.
"Well too much for being happy," he sighed.
He had been fighting with Jakol in the white room for hours now. He already had lost track of time, and he didn’t know where the exit was.
He had been calling out to the system, but there was no response. So, he decided to focus entirely on the battle in front of him.
As the system healed him once again, this time, he wasn’t focused on defense.
He shifted his mindset to offense. With a surge of fighting spirit, he rushed forward, meeting Jakol’s charge head-on.
As he burst forward meeting Jakol head-on. His heart pounded, his body was aching from countless resets, but his mind was locked in.
That very pain inside of him was guiding him towards the right move and pattern, this very instinct is what is helping him.
With this, Jeff weaved under the first strike and that is a straight punch aimed at his jaw.
The attack grazed his cheek, so close that it almost cut him, but he didn’t hesitate, moving just fast enough to avoid the full impact.
The second attack from Jakol came low, a sweeping kick aimed at his legs. Jeff jumped back just in time, his heel brushing the floor, carving a shallow path beneath him.
"It was too close," Jeff muttered, his voice tense.
But Jakol didn’t pause seeing its attack failed, a palm strike came from above aiming directly at his chest. Expecting this he raised both arms and blocked it.
The shock waved from the impact came rattling through his bones, his feet dragged a few inches across the floor, but he held firmly.
Then another attack, and that is the rising elbow from Jakol’s right, with that he twisted sideways. Barely raising his left arm to absorb it, his forearm was caught in the hit.
But the pressure pushed him off balance thus forcing him to shift his stance in midair to recover. Suddenly it was followed by a spinning backfist with terrifying precision.
He hurriedly put both of his arms up again in a cross block, the force slammed against him like a hammer.
His knees bent, as the floor cracked under him. But it did not really crack since its just figurative word.
"So damn strong, I almost flew from that one" he uttered as his breath was shallow.
Some sweat continued to drop from Jeff’s brow, but he wasn’t backing down.
He ducked under another swing, slipping around Jakol’s side and going for a counter punch.
But then he saw it, Jakol’s posture. His stance suddenly shifted to a new one. That was when Jeff realized something bad was about to happen, but it was too late.
What he saw in from Jakol’s was a sudden shoulder feint, breaking his rhythm.
Before he could react, Jakol rotated low, sweeping behind Jeff’s leg with a precise, deadly move.
He tried to jump, but Jakol’s hand was already their grabbing his ankle midair. With only one arm, Jakol whipped him off the ground and slammed him downward.
The impact was thunderous as he collapsed, groaning as his arms twitching from the recoil.
As he lay his mind was filled with pain, but his expression revealed something different.
A slight smile adorned his face as he groaned, "Well, that’s a new record for surviving half a minute of his attack. Breaking the 1-minute mark is really hard."
After hours of fighting, he had finally managed to survive for half a minute, which felt like a huge achievement.
"Damn it, if I hadn’t focused so much on attacking, I would’ve survived longer," he said with regret, realizing that his focus on offense had cost him valuable time.
But he could just try again. As his injuries healed, he stood up and took his stance, only to see that Jakol wasn’t moving anymore.
What confused him was that the system didn’t return Jakol to his original position, as it had done before. Just as he started to wonder what was going on, he suddenly heard a voice.
[10 hours had passed. You have reached the minimum time to stay in the white room.]
[Your consciousness will now be sent back.]
He wasn’t even given a chance to speak as his mind suddenly went blank.
In the next moment, as he slipped into unconsciousness, the white room turned dark, everything fading away into an empty void.
