Lucky Spin: Godly Programming-Chapter 92: The Arcade 1
Chapter 92: Chapter 92: The Arcade 1
"Hey, are you okay?" Jessica called out, noticing him staring blankly below.
"You know, eating that much isn’t good for you. Try eating less next time," she added gently, her voice laced with concern.
No matter how hungry someone is, there should always be some kind of balance. That much food couldn’t be normal.
Jeff slowly lifted his head, and when he saw her worried expression, something stirred in his chest.
Her worried expression, the softness of her gaze seemed to fill his heart.
In that moment, his mind flashed back to what the system had mentioned earlier about Dualition.
But he quickly shook his head, brushing those thoughts away.
"What are you even thinking? Are you going to treat every girl like some kind of fuel source?" he scolded himself.
Utterly disgusted by the wicked idea that tried to creep into his mind.
Jessica noticed the subtle shake of his head, the way his expression darkened for just a moment. Her worry deepened.
Was he really okay? Or had the food finally taken a toll on him?
"Hey, are you really okay?" she asked softly.
As she reached out and gently taking his right hand in both of hers. Her hands were warm and delicate, the touch was like a potion for calming.
The moment her skin met his, the twisted thoughts vanished it was like smoke chased away by sunlight.
He looked at her, and this time, he smiled, "I’m good," he responded.
Jessica gave a small nod and, with a face as red as her morning coffee, she then gently let go of his hand.
A moment later, the waitress returned with her change, placing it on the table with a polite smile before walking away.
Jeff glanced at the bills, his brows furrowing slightly. Seeing how much she had spent for what was supposed to be a simple breakfast made him uncomfortable.
He instinctively reached for his wallet, ready to pay her back at least half if not all.
But before he could pull it out, Jessica stopped him with a light tap on his hand and a subtle shake of her head.
He could only sigh quietly. That was no small amount. And yet she covered it without hesitation.
Back when he was struggling, he could only afford a 50-peso meal at most it’s just one fried egg and a scoop of rice.
It was never enough to fill him, but as long as there was something in his stomach, it was good enough.
Now things were different. He was rich, beyond what he could ever imagined.
If he wanted to, he could build his own restaurant, not just to eat in one.
With that thought it hit him like a spark. His eyes lit up, glowing with a sudden inspiration.
"That’s right, a restaurant," Jeff thought, the idea was blooming in his mind.
"Should I try making one just to keep myself full?"
Given how much he needed to eat now, having unlimited access to food wasn’t just luxury it was necessary.
The two finally left the cafe, the waitress bidding them a thankful goodbye, clearly grateful for the generous bill they had racked up.
After the meal, they walked together along the park’s path, just as Jessica had planned.
It wasn’t just for digestion, it was also her chance to slow things down and enjoy the morning with him.
Eventually, they reached a quiet riverside path tucked away from the busier parts of town.
It was surrounded by tall trees and patches of wildflowers gently swaying with the breeze.
The air was cool, the sun filtered softly through the leaves, and birds chirped overhead like nature’s background music.
Then they spotted a good spot that is being covered by the tree leaves and was closed to the river making the spot serene and beautiful.
"Let’s take a seat over there for a while," Jessica pointed at that spot.
Jeff gave a small nod, understanding the idea, especially since she had just eaten and probably needed some time to digest.
As for him? He wasn’t even sure if the word ’digestion’ applied to him anymore. His stomach felt like a black hole at this point.
When they found a nice spot by the riverside, the two of them sat down on a smooth patch of grass.
They didn’t sit too close, leaving a polite space between them. Jessica felt a little awkward.
After all, they’d already held hands and had more skin contact than she ever expected in one morning.
Sitting close now might just push her over the edge.
They sat there in a calm silence, with the breeze brushing past and the sound of flowing water nearby.
Jeff, lounging with his arms behind him and legs stretched out, looked up at the sky for a moment then spoke in his mind.
"This kind of life isn’t so bad."
"Oh yeah, Jessica, I forgot to say something," he said, turning his head slightly to look at her.
"Yes?" she replied, taking a slow breath of the fresh air as her gaze met his.
"Thanks for the meal," he said quietly, his tone filled with genuine gratitude.
Jessica simply waved it off with a relaxed motion, as if it wasn’t worth making a fuss about.
"What did I say a few days ago? This is my way of saying thanks. What you did back then was worth far more than just breakfast," she said, smiling softly.
"Even if you say it like that... still, thank you, Jessica. I mean it," Jeff said, his voice was steady.
Since it was the first time someone outside of his family had spent so much just for him. And for once, he didn’t feel like a burden.
A warm feeling settled in his chest, something soft and good.
Jessica’s smile only deepened it, and for a while, the two simply sat there, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere by the riverside.
Eventually, the silence gave way to laughter.
They started talking, sharing what happened the days accompanied by its silly moments and embarrassing stories.
Time passed quickly, and the quiet park became their little world for a while. Before they knew it, an hour had slipped by.
Jessica glanced at her phone. It was already 10:32. She stood up, brushing off her skirt.
"Let’s go for a quick stop at the arcade," she said with a playful tone.
"Sure." Jeff stood up too, nodding casually.
The two left the park and hopped onto another tricycle since the mall which is Gaisano was a bit of a distance away.
As they arrived at the entrance, Jeff made no attempt to pay for the ride.
He already knew what would happen if he tried those cold, warning glares from Jessica were enough to make him stay in his lane.
Inside the mall, they took the escalator up to the third floor. After walking a short stretch, they finally reached the arcade section, the sounds of machines and playful music filling the air.
"Wait, I’ll go buy some coins," Jessica said.
She was already heading toward the counter. Jeff followed closely behind, watching as she exchanged a 200 peso for 20 arcade coins.
Without saying much, she turned and brought him straight to the basketball shooting game.
"Here, have some coins," Jessica said as she handed Jeff ten of them, keeping the other ten for herself.
Without wasting time, she popped one into the machine.
The game started, as the digital countdown ticking down as basketballs rolled toward her on the rack.
She grabbed one, aimed, and tossed it.
The ball floated through the air, until it clunked against the rim and bounced back onto the platform.
"Ohhhh, so close!" she groaned, but was determined.
She grabbed another ball and shot again.
Miss.
And again.
Miss.
Again.
Still a miss.
She kept going, launching shot after shot, clearly irritated since not a single ball was shoot.
But as her hand reached for the next ball, she paused feeling something was off.
Turning her head, she saw Jeff standing by her side he was just watching with a smile adorned in his face.
"What are you looking at me for? Don’t you want to play?" she said in an irritating voice since all her shots did not go in.
"Haha, I was just surprised that you’re actually into basketball," Jeff said, still smiling as he watched her try to sink another shot.
Jessica raised a brow at him, "Are you not into basketball?"
Jeff shook his head casually, "Nope, I’ve tried playing but I don’t understand it."
And that was the truth. Even though the rest of his family was into basketball, he had always been the odd one out.
While they were out on the court, he was usually glued to his phone or computer, gaming, watching reels, or just browsing online.
He didn’t even fully understand the basic rules. Terms like travel, screen, or pick-and-roll were as foreign to him as ancient codes.
Jessica blinked at his answer, clearly caught off guard.
She had clearly assumed that like most people probably would, that was because he was tall, that means he had to be into basketball.
After all, every boy she knew seemed to love it. Since it just perfectly fits the idea. But apparently, he didn’t.
And somehow, that made her smile falter just a little. She had planned this, thinking he would enjoy it.
She wasn’t even into basketball herself. She only played because she thought he liked it.
"Then let’s just go play something else," she said softly, placing the ball down and turning to leave.
But before she could take a step, Jeff reached out and inserted a coin into the machine. The game lit up again.
He picked up a ball, held it awkwardly for a second and then shot.
The ball arced cleanly through the air and swished right through the hoop. No rim. Just a perfect shot.
The machine beeped, adding two points to the score.
Jessica blinked as Jeff turned to her, smiling, "Since we’re already here, let’s just play and enjoy."
He picked up another ball and shot again. Another clean shot and another point.
