Even with the explosion from the fire cloak Ethan still wasn’t free from her mud trap so he used the sword to break free and the girl also broke free from his dark binds as the light from his flame eliminated the shadow and both of them jumped backwards.

Now Ethan knew she had dual affinity so he wasn’t going to fall for something like that again, and the girl on the other hand couldn’t explain how Ethan trapped her, she knew Ethan couldn’t possibly have an affinity to darkness.
