Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle'-Chapter 338: Bad Driving Skills
Chapter 338: Bad Driving Skills
Angelica deliberately chose a large public hospital, knowing that the high foot traffic would ensure news of her pregnancy spread quickly.
When Joe arrived at the hospital room, he found Angelica lying weakly on the bed, her face streaked with tears.
"Dad..." she whispered, her voice trembling.
Before she could say more, she began to gasp for air. Grandma Morris stepped forward, her expression stern.
"Angelica, this child must be terminated," she declared.
Angelica sobbed uncontrollably. "Grandma, please, don’t do this. I don’t want to lose this baby..."
Grandma Morris’s face remained hard. "No. Angelica, you must listen to me. Once you’re feeling better, I’ll arrange for a doctor to terminate the pregnancy."
Angelica was in a shared room with other expectant mothers and their families. Hearing this exchange, they couldn’t help but frown.
"What kind of grandmother insists on aborting her granddaughter’s child? What’s the grudge?"
"I think I heard the old lady say her granddaughter is unmarried and pregnant..."
"Unmarried and pregnant? Where’s the father?"
Angelica and Grandma Morris exchanged a glance, both seeing the satisfaction in each other’s eyes.
Yes, this pregnancy was part of their plan.
Angelica wanted to become Mrs. Reid, and Grandma Morris simply wanted to disgust Selina.
The two had conspired to stage this entire act.
Clutching her abdomen, Angelica cried, "Grandma, this is Logan’s child. I can’t live without him. Please..."
Grandma Morris scolded, "He’s long since forgotten about you! What’s the use of carrying his child? The promises he made when you saved him are all forgotten. You’re the only one still holding on!"
"Even if you have this child, he won’t acknowledge it!"
Angelica, tearfully, "I don’t care..."
"Nonsense!" Grandma Morris shouted deliberately loud. "Four years ago, when you saved him, he promised to marry you. Did he? Not only did he not marry you, but he also irresponsibly got you pregnant!"
The onlookers were shocked. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"What a scumbag!"
"Promised marriage, then backed out and got the girl pregnant? So irresponsible!"
"Wait, did she say the man’s name is Logan? Could it be Logan Reid?"
Joe frowned and asked, "Angelica, what’s going on?"
Grandma Morris quickly put on a worried expression and said loudly, "Alright, everyone, please don’t listen. This is a family matter."
Angelica sobbed, "Dad, I suddenly fainted today. My brother brought me to the hospital. After the examination, the doctor said I was one month pregnant... And a month ago, I was with Logan..."
She seemed unable to continue, covering her face and crying.
Joe, his blood boiling, "A month ago?! I had already found you by then. Why didn’t you tell me!"
Grandma Morris subtly added fuel to the fire, "Joe, it’s not Angelica’s fault. She’s timid. Selina warned her twice, and she naively listened. Even after being taken advantage of by Logan and getting pregnant, she didn’t dare to speak up."
Selina...?
Joe was taken aback, "Selina is involved too?"
Angelica bit her lip, finally crying out, "Dad, Selina always thought I would ruin their marriage. She warned me multiple times. I endured it all. But a month ago, Logan got drunk, and I... I was so afraid Selina would find out and cause trouble again, so I kept it to myself. Who knew I’d end up pregnant... Dad, I don’t want to live anymore..."
The doctor chimed in from the side, "Chairman Morris, Miss Morris is in poor health. If she terminates the pregnancy, there’s a high chance she may never be able to conceive again. You should think this through carefully."
Grandma Morris deliberately added, "But what’s the point of having a fatherless child? Just to bring shame to the Morris Family?"
The more Joe listened, the deeper his frown became.
Selina had ’warned’ Angelica in private? If that were true, then he had to protect Angelica.
He’d already let his daughter suffer too much—he couldn’t just stand by anymore. "If it’s a Reid Family child, then the Reid Family needs to take responsibility."
"Angelica, focus on your recovery. I’m going to the Reid Family."
Angelica watched Joe walk out the door, the corners of her lips lifting into a quiet smile.
Sapphire Valley Villa.
Selina couldn’t quite follow Luke’s train of thought. "D-Drive?"
Luke thought for a second whether Selina understood the slang meaning of "drive," but figured, hey, they were adults. Putting "fun" and "driving" together—she had to get it. "Exactly!"
Selina fell into thought.
A few days ago, when Logan drove her back, he seemed seriously triggered—he slammed the brakes multiple times, nearly flinging her out of the car.
And since he normally had a driver, his actual driving skills might be...
Selina shook her head. "Not great."
Luke looked stunned. "Not great?"
Before Selina could respond, Luke suddenly stood up and started pacing back and forth, looking very serious. "I get it now!"
Selina: "...?"
So what if Logan wasn’t a great driver? He had a 24/7 chauffeur.
Their mental wavelengths were completely out of sync, but somehow the conversation kept going.
"Selina, don’t be upset. I’m taking you somewhere!"
Selina was intrigued. "Where?"
"We’re going to..." Luke swallowed the word "bar." "We’re going to blow off some steam! Logan’s out driving like crap and still fooling around with Angelica, and now she claims she’s pregnant and he won’t even speak up? Forget him. Let’s go!"
Luke dragged Selina into the car, and half an hour later, they pulled up to a bar.
Selina frowned. "A bar? This is your idea of fun?"
"No." Luke’s face turned mysterious. "Selina, I’m here to expand your worldview. You’ve only ever had my brother around. You’ve never seen the variety of men out there. Tonight, I’m showing you everything!"
Logan wasn’t answering his phone? Out "in meetings" late at night? Whether he saw Angelica or not, as far as Luke was concerned, that guy was a failure as a husband.
Selina followed Luke into the bar, still a bit confused, only to see Luke clap his hands. A man immediately rushed over, eager to please.
"Young Master Reid, what would you like to do tonight?"
Luke gave Selina a look full of pity, then declared righteously, "Bring out your top guys—line ’em up for me!"
The manager’s eyes twitched. "Yes, Young Master Reid."
A few minutes later, Selina stared in shock at the row of men in front of her—tall, handsome, gentle, arrogant, cold, refined—every type imaginable. There wasn’t a single look they didn’t have covered.
Selina was baffled. "Luke, what are you doing?"
"Come on, Selina, just point to the one you like and tell me!" Luke waved grandly and called over a few of the men. "You guys—pour her a drink!"
Several men sat down next to Selina.
"Miss Clark, have a drink."
"Miss Clark, how do you like your drink? Should I feed it to you?"
It finally dawned on Selina where Luke had brought her, and she was absolutely floored.
Was Luke itching for a beating or what?
