Married To The Mad Vampire Lord-Chapter 65: The heart involvement
Chapter 65: The heart involvement
Next morning when Belle woke up, Farrah was already in her chamber preparing her bath. Since the time she had come to live in this castle, she always had the routine of waking up before anyone and taking her bath so the maid wouldn’t need to touch and wash her, but lately she had started to wake up late because she slept late.
Last night, she hadn’t been able to get any sleep as many thoughts and many possibilities swarmed her mind and made it impossible to sleep. The story her husband had told her and then his attempt to compel her into forgetting. She couldn’t believe that morning after she woke up from her fever he had tried to compel her to forget seeing his scar!
Why would he do that? Was he also so insecure about his scar or was there some history behind it he didn’t want her to know? What bothered her more was the fact that his compelling had not worked and he’d seemed shocked by it as if it had never happened before.
The instructor in Aragonia had warned her about the Vampires’ compelling, he didn’t teach her how to fight it but only told her to keep a low profile that wouldn’t lead to her being compelled into forgetting information she would deliver to them. But now that Rohan had warned her not to show that she couldn’t be compelled without explaining why, she couldn’t help the fear that somewhat crept into her heart.
Why didn’t it work on her? She wondered for the hundredth time but then she soon dismissed the thought from her mind for now to get ready and to also focus on a plan she wanted to do today to get to know more about that incomplete story Rohan had told her. She had nothing to do in the castle today but test her dress for tomorrow’s banquet...
Tomorrow’s banquet, she felt a huge weight come to settle on her shoulder, so heavy she dragged herself behind the wooden divider after telling Farrah to prepare her dress while she took her bath herself.
Belle breathed, pausing before peeling off her petticoat and exposing her breasts to the chilly air, and then she stilled and flushed as last night’s memory suddenly overflowed her mind. He had suckled her so intimately but his parting words had made her forget that part until she saw her petticoat and her breast. It hardened instantly as she recalled the sensation of his tongue flicking her through her thin petticoat, the sensation sent heat swelling her stomach and her lower abdomen, where it clenched and throbbed, and made her bite her lips in shame.
One thing was for certain, Belle knew she would never be the same again because her body was shamelessly wandering and getting too drawn to these new sensations that brought a bolt of curiosity to her once innocent mind. He was tainting her mind and she was getting drawn and so curious about what other things he would do.
If she ever got back to Aragonia, she knew she would never be that innocent inexperienced Isabelle Dawson, she would have Rohan Dagon’s stain on her soul. She was never supposed to let herself down this fast, she was to resist and avoid him, but heavens, things were starting to go a complete opposite way to what she had planned. Laying in bed with him and getting suckled wasn’t part of it, being kissed and wanting to be touched was totally out of the way. What would her family think if they knew she was already terribly failing them, and... Jamie...
Oh, Jamie. She had not thought of him for once since last night. Rohan had been the only thing on her mind and recalling the love she claimed to have for Jamie but was still seeking carnal pleasure, she felt ashamed and angry at herself for being a low-witted fool. How could she let him taint her so soon without at least trying to resist it?
Whenever he was close to her or touched her, she forgot about everything but that moment.
Belle took her bath all the while hating and scolding herself for being a fool. By the time she was done, Farrah had brought out a set of dress and jewelry for her to wear and also told her that Rohan had gone out and wouldn’t be sitting with her for breakfast but she could eat in the dining hall.
Belle did not know why she felt a rush of disappointment consume her at the thought that Rohan wouldn’t be eating with her yet again this morning, but then she quickly dismissed the thought that it was best, at least she would avoid being near him or having to see him and get her resolve broken all over again. He was a danger to her and her mission and now the only way not to fail or get too distracted and drawn into temptation was to avoid the cause of it.
Getting used to him and wanting him to touch her always was not something good for her.
Belle went to the dining hall, where like the last time she had eaten with her husband, different kinds of delicacies were set up on the long table. When she sat down at the chair next to the empty head chair, Farrah began to serve her.
Unable to hold back herself, Belle asked, "Do you know where he went to this morning?" she asked, referring to her husband while also trying to act like she didn’t care wherever he went to. But Lord help her, she cared—it was biting at her inside to know, because if she recalled his words clearly, he had said they would be eating every meal together, but it seemed he had become so busy she rarely saw him during the mornings, especially when he had just returned yesterday from a few days’ absence.
Farrah already knew who she was referring to. She set a plate in front of the lady and smiled, "Yes. He went to Lady Cordelia’s family residence," she informed and she saw as Belle’s head swept towards her and her lashes trembled at that information but she seemed to compose herself quickly and nod.
"I see. I wonder why he went there this morning," Belle muttered as she began to stuff her mouth with food to not let the sudden turmoil in her body show. She was not going to let herself get affected by the fact that he had gone to visit his second cousin who happened to be his childhood brothel when they would probably meet at the banquet tomorrow. Did he miss her too?
The sting in her heart and throat made it hard for her to swallow the food and she gulped down a glass of water, and then she suddenly felt she didn’t feel like eating anymore. Why would he leave to visit Cordelia the very next morning after he had been intimate with her in bed? Was he not satisfied with what they did last night to go and meet that witch, who had put her into trouble days ago?
Belle was about to start overthinking why he would go to meet the Vampiress when Farrah’s voice came from the side. "I can’t help but feel sorry for Lady Cordelia and her family," she said as she moved the half-eaten food away from Belle’s front to replace it with fruits.
Those words sparked Belle’s curiosity and made her turn to the girl. "Why? What happened to them?"
Sighing, Farrah said, "They had fallen into a great debt that now requires them to sell their big estate to repay it. I heard that their carriages where the slaves they had bought to start business was attacked on the way and none of the workers and carriages were able to be rescued. Everything, including the slaves and the important documents were burned down.
"The family are in great grief and loss. His lordship must have been summoned to help catch the culprit who had been cruel enough to do such a thing. Everyone is already talking about it." Farrah said with a sympathy she didn’t feel as she thought the vampire family deserved what they got, especially Lady Cordelia who she had despised for how she treated girls like her and hated humans.
Belle was silent. She had heard how the Vampiress had been boasting about how her family would start their slave establishment that day and now it was all gone including her family wealth. Belle did not know what to feel and think as she didn’t like the lady, but then she couldn’t help but feel for the family who would now be in great debt. Falling from wealth to nothing was not something someone who had grown up having everything could easily handle.
However, knowing that her husband had not gone there for personal reasons because he missed Cordelia, like he said he missed her last night after his return, she felt relieved enough to continue eating her food. She even found herself reaching for the food Farrah had replaced with fruits, and she was smiling faintly to herself like a fool, until she realized it and quickly cleared her throat.
Once Belle was done with breakfast, she went to look for Rav who she was told was in the kitchen courtyard bringing in vegetables for the servants that needed to be cut and dried in the sun that had decided to finally come out of the thick clouds this morning. Though the sun was in the sky, it occasionally got covered by the hovering clouds.
She found him bent over a basket filled with carrots and turnips, his cloak gathered around him with the hood covering his head to shield him from the sun. As if sensing her approach, he turned over his shoulder to look at her with a small frown on his hooded face.
Seeing the lady approach him in the backyard vegetable garden, Rav stood to his feet and dusted his muddy palms before he bowed curtly to her. "Good morning to you, my lady. What brings you out here?" He questioned as he raised his head, his light red eyes shining brightly.
"Good morning," she greeted back with a smile and then looked around the vegetable garden where everything in it was fresh and well taken care of, before she turned to him. "I wanted to ask you something, if you don’t mind me helping you with the vegetables as we speak?" she questioned uncertainly, expecting him to reject but then he merely shrugged and gestured for her to help herself to the work.
