Chapter 22 -21 – Give Yourself to Me? I, Willing!_1
“Seeing as we’re old acquaintances,” Mu Lin stepped in front of Jing Chen, looking at him with a mysterious smile on her lips. “Your appointment time should have passed; but… do you need my help?”
“Much obliged.” His expression was cold, very different from his demeanor the first time they’d met. Jing Chen was highly cooperative, swiftly unbuckling his belt without hesitation.
Anyway, it wasn’t the first time.

Little did Jing Chen realize that Mu Lin was merely teasing him – he didn’t need to remove his trousers at all.
The two dimwits behind them exchanged looks, evidently impressed by the situation.
Her gaze swept over the wound, taking his pulse casually at the same time.
“The wound is healing quite well. There aren’t any complications or sequelae.” Although Mu Lin had great confidence in her medical skill, she was professional enough not to cut corners.
The injury had already scabbed over and all that was left were some faint scars. She was baffled as to why he’d returned for a check-up behaving flippantly.
“Really?” One of the dimwits instinctively asked upon hearing Mu Lin’s words.
“You don’t trust me.” The soft voice, coming from her cherry-red lips, sent a chill down their spines. They hastily shook their heads.
Mu Lin lifted the corner of her mouth faintly, “Don’t worry- the incident you fear won’t happen. If you still don’t trust me, feel free to turn left or right outside the door and seek a second opinion from another doctor.”
“As for now…” Her indifferent gaze met his deep icy-blue eyes, “You may go.”
She was just about to knock off work.
However…
A deep smile curled up at the corners of his cold lips as he gazed at Mu Lin. Jing Chen didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving at all.
“You haven’t told me yet why the renowned Poison Doctor would show up here.”
Or is it that her sudden appearance here has other motives?
It can’t be… that she’s here to collect a debt.
One must say this man appears somewhat narcissistic at the moment.
…
“Even a Poison Doctor needs to eat,” Mu Lin said softly with a laugh. “After all, a kind person like me often provides ‘free’ medical services.”
At this point, Mu Lin seemed to have conveniently forgotten that she had previously charged a substantial medical fee of several digits for treating the young master from the Zhang family.
Of course, the fact that Mu Lin said this was to blatantly remind the man in front of her of how “kindly” she… saved his life back then.
“Hmm, perhaps you’re right.”
While it was debatable whether Mu Lin’s claim of providing “free” medical service was genuine or not, she did save his life last time…for free.
“Is any reciprocation needed?” Jing Chen broke the silence with a quiet question.
“Have you figured out how you want to repay me?” Mu Lin raised her eyebrows, a sweet smile on her face.
“That would depend on what you ask for.”
Watching the interaction between the two, the jaws of the two dimwits on the side almost dropped. Intently rubbing their eyes to make sure they weren’t seeing things.
Were they mistaken just now? Their boss was actually discussing with someone about repayment?
It must be true after all; he has sequelae, and quite serious ones too.
Staring at the man in front of her, there was a trace of bewilderment in Mu Lin’s eyes. However, very soon, the curve of her lips brightened. “How about… pledging yourself to me?”
Her slender hand lightly rested on his shoulder, sliding down slowly to grab his collar. She gave a light tug, and their breath intermingled. They were merely a fraction of a millimeter apart from each other.
A thump echoed as a heavy object hit the floor. Unfortunately, neither of the two main characters spared any attention for the two foolish onlookers.
…
“Are you sure?” He’d have to… pledge his body to her?
Strangely enough, upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, Jing Chen didn’t feel any anger. Instead, his heart pounded uncontrollably.
It was a weird feeling, but not entirely disagreeable. However, he didn’t fancy this out-of-control sensation and chose to ignore it.
Jing Chen found it peculiar. It was his second encounter with the woman standing in front of him. Yet, every time he met her, he seemed to be on the losing end. This situation was indeed…a rarity.
With this thought in mind, the curve of Jing Chen’s lips deepened, his eyebrows raised, “I… accept.” He wasn’t at a disadvantage, was he?
This time, it was Mu Lin’s turn to feel a bit uneasy. From childhood to adulthood, apart from her master, she had only ever come close to one male animal, Qiaozi. So she assumed this man was genuinely cold and aloof. Turns out he was just a reserved flirt.
Well, she wasn’t going to play his game any longer.
She let go of his collar and took a tiny step back. Unfortunately, before she could utter a word, she was abruptly pulled back into a broad embrace by a firm hand.
“Didn’t you say you’re offering yourself?” The man’s voice was low and steady, sounding somewhat seductive. His eyes, however, glistened with traces of… amusement.
Was she trying to escape? Too bad, he wouldn’t release his “prey” easily, especially those who provoked him first. This was an inexplicable heeldigging of Jing Chen, as a soldier.
Dazzled by the tumble, Mu Lin momentarily lost her thoughts but quickly composed herself. She instinctively tried to struggle free, but the strength gap between men and women was too large.
“Let go.” The burning sensation from his hand on her waist made Mu Lin uncomfortable. The light smile on her face turned icy. Yet, all she heard was a delighted chuckle from him.
“Missy, you piqued my interest first. Wanting to back down now… isn’t it a bit too late?”
With a clatter, the jaws of the two dimwits finally could not hold any longer.
Boss! This is so surreal!
