Chapter 57 -56 – Mu Lin Gets Stalked (2nd update)_1

“How did you get it?” Mu Lin parroted the question, “Obviously, the owner of this thing gave it to me.” The look in Mu Lin’s eyes clearly implied – ‘Are you being stupid?’.

“The owner you’re talking about… is it the Poison Doctor? Have you really met him?” The question was asked with noticeable anxiety.

“Isn’t that obvious?” Mu Lin smiled. In this world, she was the only one who met the Poison Doctor daily… an enviable privilege for most.

Upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, the inquirer looked pleasantly surprised, “May I ask… is the Poison Doctor still in J Province?”

“Why do you ask?” Mu Lin raised an eyebrow, appearing to be on guard.

“I want to discuss some business with him.” The other party replied plainly, clearly treating Mu Lin as a go-between.

“It seems you’re not aware of her rules,” Mu Lin sat up straight, her lips curling up into a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, “She doesn’t like when others commodify her things. In fact, I’d like to ask – how did you get your hands on Hades?”

“Miss Mu, you seem to be contradicting yourself.” The inquirer laughed teasingly upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, “What we just obtained is an item that you gave away.”

“Ah… I nearly forgot.” Mu Lin momentarily paused before breaking into laughter again. However, the mirth didn’t reach her eyes, and she stared fixedly at the other party, “But what makes you think you can compare with me?” Her voice became icily clear.

“I’ve never heard that anyone else, aside from the merchandise I have, is qualified to own these things – especially, the most precious Hades. Even though it is fake, the real one may not necessarily be out of our reach.”

“Miss Mu, perhaps you don’t know that anything is possible in this world, if you want it enough.” At least, they had obtained the information they wanted, hadn’t they?

“Perhaps you’re right.” Mu Lin laughed.

As they watched the back and forth exchange between the two, filled with hidden meanings, the other Little Young Masters continued to play the quiet bodyguards. However, they had secretly resolved to never offend Mu Lin lest they end up being manipulated without even realizing it.

Like these two men before them, they didn’t know what Mu Lin’s objective was, but… the spectacle was definitely entertaining.

They silently mourned for the two men who didn’t know what they were walking into.

Mu Lin’s light smile brought a chill to the other party. They didn’t know the nature of the relationship between Mu Lin and the Poison Doctor, but they could be sure it ran deep; could Mu Lin be the Poison Doctor’s… confidante?

After all, a man will only entirely indulge himself for the woman he loves, though they didn’t necessarily agree or could relate.

Mu Lin really wanted to ask them, where did they get the information that she was a man?

In the mortal world, the Poison Doctor was almost just a legend. People didn’t know her gender, but assumed she must be male because – how could a woman do such things? It was only natural to spread rumors that Mu Lin was a man.

At least they didn’t say she was a demon.

But this was alright too. At least no one would actually think that the Poison Doctor was a woman, let alone a beauty. And that she even went around to various hospitals, clinics to perform medical treatment every year – these were things that the legendary Poison Doctor would never do.

This was actually Mu Lin’s best disguise, her best hiding place, saving her much trouble.

Staring at the man before her, Mu Lin’s smile grew more sarcastic, “Although what you said is right, aren’t you afraid… that the owner of this thing will come to claim it, causing your death?” The last four words carried a subtle hint of deadly menace in her voice.

“I will wait for the good news.” It was unexpected that Mu Lin could discern the authenticity of the medicine without even changing her gaze. It seems she indeed has a close relationship with the Poison Doctor, unknown to others.

The other party grew increasingly certain of their conjecture.

Perhaps they could use her to lure out the Poison Doctor.

The two of them exchanged glances, seeing recognition and excitement in each other’s eyes.

“After all this talk, Miss Mu, you still haven’t told us your actual motive in drawing our attention here today?” This made him feel uncomfortably as if he was being led by the nose.

“Actually, nothing much. I just wanted to know who is seeking their own doom.” But after meeting them, she was somewhat disappointed. They were just small fry, mere errand runners.

“You…” The other person wanted to stand up and create a scene, but was held back by his dark-faced companion who shook his head slightly.

If they wanted to make a move, it was not here. Now that they knew her identity and the subtle relationship between her and the Poison Doctor, they were not afraid of losing her.
