Chapter 25: Ciel got the role

Silas’s POV

I didn’t want to show my weakness to anyone, but when Damon was applying ointment to my bruises, it hurt like hell. It was unbearable, but I endured it.

When he was done, I realized that I had unknowingly gripped his thigh. My eyes were filled with tears, so I quickly withdrew my hand and wiped them away.

"See? It hurts, doesn’t it? So why were you lying and saying it didn’t?"

Of course, I didn’t want to show anyone that I was weak, so I stayed silent. Damon stood up, grabbed my jacket and T-shirt, and handed them to me.

"Here, wear this."

I quickly put on my clothes, but even raising my arms or moving slightly made the pain worse. Once I was dressed, I stood up to leave, and Damon returned to his desk.

"I’ll take my leave now," I said.

Just as I was about to step out, Damon walked over to me with a box of cookies in his hand, which he had grabbed from his desk.

"Eat this."

It’s not like I’m a foodie or anything, but I never reject free food. Without saying a word, I took the cookies from him.

"Thanks," I said before walking out of the office.

As soon as I stepped out, I saw Nekol standing there, waiting for me. His eyes were filled with concern.

"Silas," he called as he approached me. "Are you okay? Mr. Damon didn’t scold you when he told you to stay behind, did he?"

"No, it’s nothing. But let’s go—he gave me these cookies, let’s eat them."

Nekol smiled at my words, and we started walking. But then he suddenly stopped, and I realized we were standing in front of the company doctor’s office.

"Wait, I don’t need to see a doctor. I’m totally fine, Nekol."

"No, you’re not. We’re seeing the doctor. Now, let’s go in."

I really didn’t want to see the doctor, but Nekol pushed me inside. A female doctor was standing there, focused on her phone.

"Doctor, please check him. He got beaten up," Nekol said.

What the fuck? Why was Nekol telling her that? It was so embarrassing.

"Lie down on the bed and lift your T-shirt," the doctor instructed.

I sighed, removed my jacket, and pulled up my T-shirt. She came closer and pressed three fingers against my stomach.

It felt like she was trying to pierce through my skin, and when she pressed on the swollen area, the pain was unbearable.

"Turn onto your stomach so I can check your back."

I obeyed, turning onto my stomach. She pressed on my back, doing something I couldn’t see, while Nekol stood beside her, watching everything.

"Alright, you can sit up now. I’ll prescribe some medicine. Take it after eating and apply ice to the swollen areas."

I sat up and put my clothes back on, with Nekol helping me get down from the bed. I quickly grabbed my box of cookies from the bedside table.

As we stepped out, Nekol went to buy the prescribed medicine from the medical store, and then we returned to our dorm.

"Silas, don’t do anything for now. Just rest for two more days. I’ll talk to Keri about your acting lessons—if possible, she’ll arrange online classes for you so you can attend from your room."

Nekol is so sweet. He knows I’m in pain, so he’s trying to make things easier for me. I was really touched by his words.

"Okay. And... thanks for taking my side earlier."

"Oh, that was nothing. But make sure not to get into any trouble in the future. Try to lay low until your first drama debut."

I smiled, stepping into my room. Nekol waved goodbye and handed me the medicine and ice before leaving.

Once inside, I locked the door, placed the medicine, ice pack, and cookies on the table, and unpacked my bag. Nekol had brought me some clothes—comfortable ones, too. I changed into them and then applied ice to my waist.

Reaching my back was difficult, so I couldn’t apply ice there properly.

After that, I opened Stargram and logged into my account.

It had been days since I last checked it, and I had tons of notifications. I lay on my stomach, resting my elbows on a pillow with the cookies beside me.

Taking a bite, I opened Ciel’s profile. The moment I saw his latest post, my fingers froze.

He had uploaded a post about auditioning for Gold Era Company. As I scrolled down, I saw how happy he was with Zarek and Dad. He had uploaded so many pictures with Dad—some from three years ago, some from two years ago.

Two years ago... I didn’t even have a phone. But Ciel did. I had no idea. Dad must have bought it for him, and he must have hidden it well enough that I never found out.

No. I don’t need to feel sad. There’s nothing to be sad about.

I already knew Dad favored him. There’s nothing new to think about. I guess I really am an orphan.

Just then, I clicked on Ciel’s story.

"YEEE!! I did it! I finally got a role in a big drama! My dreams are coming true!" fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

He got a role in a big drama... Just like Damon said, Ciel had auditioned for the same drama as me. That means he was selected for the villain role.

It wasn’t exactly pleasant to see, but I was looking forward to working with him.

I’m going to prove my worth and my abilities.

Because here... Dad isn’t the one deciding who gets favored.

I will work even harder to make sure I become the main character in the drama. More than anything, I can’t wait to see Ciel’s expression when he realizes that I’m in the same drama as him—but this time, I’m the main character.

He’s had everything he ever wanted since childhood, while I’ve always had to work hard for everything I have.

I simply exited Ciel’s account and clicked on the notification button. There were many new followers waiting for me.
