Mated To The Cruel Prince-Chapter 42: Devil In Sheep Clothing
Chapter 42: Devil In Sheep Clothing
Whatever shut-eye Islinda had could barely qualify as sleep because her eyes snapped open when she felt Valerie’s hand on the small of her back sending a tingling sensation through her.
"Sorry," He rasped, "I was trying to keep you warm."
Islinda realized that she was warm inside and did not feel the cold anymore. He had performed his ability on her again, not that it stopped her from pressing closer to him. Their naked bodies pressing together felt better than anything.
They stared into each other’s eyes, none of them willing to break the silence. It wasn’t until Islinda let out a deep sigh that he reached out and cupped her cheek, asking, "What’s wrong?"
"Where do we go from here, Valerie?" She finally asked the question that has been on her mind.
From the lack of reaction from Valerie, it was safe to say that he might have seen that coming.
She continued, "I like you, Valerie, even if it doesn’t make sense at all. The first time that I saw you, I could feel that we had this instant connection. It was like we were destined to meet." Islinda laughed, wiping the tears that sprang from her eyes, "I must be babbling nonsense."
"No, you’re not spilling nonsense," Valerie responded with an equally serious voice, helping her wipe away the tears.
He said, "I have never felt such intense feelings for someone. For a human." He pointed out the fact that they were from different races. By the gods, a magical wall even divided their realms.
"What are we going to do?" Islinda was lying on the side propped up on one elbow, staring into his eyes and seeing the same concern there, "This is the first time I’m having an interracial relationship with...." She winced at her wording, "This is my first relationship at all."
Valerie shifted on his arms and kissed her bare shoulder, shivers running down her spine.
He pulled back an inch, "We give it time, Islinda. We both know what we want and we work towards it. Although it would not be easy." Valerie warned her.
"I would not have started this in the first place if I thought it would be easy," She breathed against his lips, staring at him with sultry eyes.
Valerie let out a tortured groan before he was kissing her again and pushed her onto her back. She laughed at his antics but Valerie knew she would be moaning his name soon. Islinda might as well be a witch because she had great influence over him.
It was another round of intense lovemaking and Islinda was glad she gave her innocence away to someone like Valerie. She never thought love could be this.... love?
Yes, she was falling in love with Valerie.
And it pleased her to know that Valerie was on the same page with her. This feeling was not one-sided, and while it was too quick to think about settling down and having children, both of them were together as a couple.
Sure, they had many huddles on their journey with deep-rooted hate between humans and Fae creatures, but they would figure it out together. They would carve their future and perhaps, be the advocate for Fae and human cohabitation.
"I have a question for you," Islinda asked after they were done and cuddled against each other.
She should be asleep now knowing it would affect her productivity that day, but no, she couldn’t. Only the gods knew when she would see Valerie again and wanted to relish their time spent together.
Islinda couldn’t sneak off every night, not only would that draw suspicion, but her body would suffer the consequences. For starters, she will be very sore tomorrow. Hopefully, none of her family members would notice her awkward movement.
"What is it?" Valeria asked gently, rubbing circles on her back and she tried to block out the tingling feeling and concentrate on the task at hand. It was enough sex for tonight.
"Tell me about your family. I practically know nothing about where you come from."
It was a simple question yet Islinda felt Valerie tense beside her and she wondered if she had asked the wrong question.
She frowned, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing." He said.
Not that she believed him.
"Valerie..." She called his name, "If we are to make this work, then you have to be transparent with me."
It was hard for him but Islinda saw the moment he gave in.
"My family is not exactly the best people to talk about. Fae and humans don’t exactly have the same standards, values, and way of life." He hinted that she might not like his family.
"I don’t care." She whispered.
"My father married four wives and I’m the second out of four brothers, all from different mothers."
Islinda’s jaw dropped to the ground and she was unable to put together a sentence for a while.
"Wow," She breathed, "That is quite massive." Islinda blinked, "Do you... urm.. get along with them all? I mean, in the human realm, one wife is enough trouble, I cannot even imagine four wives all living together. And your brothers, do you guys fight all the time?"
"I get along with two of my brothers." He said.
"Two? Not three?" She noted he omitted one of them.
"The last one, Aldric, we don’t exactly get along. No one in our family likes him, not even my father, the..." Valerie trailed off, close to revealing he was royalty. He liked the fact Islinda treated him like an ordinary Fae - almost like a human, not a monster.
Thankfully, she was more invested in the story and didn’t notice he slipped.
"Why?" She asked, curious, "Why don’t any of you like him?"
"Because he’s cruel, unkind, and twisted on the inside. Nobody wants to be associated with such a malevolent being."
"He must be lonely then." She pitied him.
"What?" Valerie was shocked, that was not the response he had been expecting from her.
"I mean there’s a reason he must be that way. Has any one of you attempted to be close to him?" Islinda asked only for Valerie to growl at her.
He said to her sternly, "Trust me, Islinda, you don’t ever want to meet Aldric. He’s no prince in shining armor but a devil in sheep’s clothing."
