Mated To The Cruel Prince-Chapter 690: What Did You Do To Me
Chapter 690: What Did You Do To Me
Something was not right with him. Aldric could feel it like a constant itch across his skin, one that he couldn’t reach. He paced up and down his quarters restlessly, his mind reeling.
The human he had kept under his roof betrayed him. She killed Karle and had Kalamazoo betray him. She used magic on him, to manipulate him. She had even manipulated his alter ego. The evidence was there. Everything was as Elena told him. Yet it didn’t make sense to him.
Elena had told him that his mistake had been trusting Islinda, yet it had felt right. He tried to recall memories about Islinda that could have hinted at her betrayal, but there were missing holes in his memories. As if someone didn’t want him to see something.
Was it Islinda’s doing? Had she been creating and recreating, manipulating his memories according to her plans and whims? How long has she been a witch? Why then did she pretend to be a weak human? Why didn’t she kill him when she had the chance? Why now? What was her endgame?
Aldric groaned once more as he tried to pull up another memory or two. He understood nothing anymore. His head was throbbing, almost as if it wanted to split into two. What did she do to him?
Unable to stand it any longer, Aldric rose to his feet with the intention to seek out Islinda. He was not usually like this. Why had he even allowed Elena to oversee the case? It should have been him. Oh right, Elena was trustworthy. But still, it didn’t feel right. No matter what, it should have been him. Aldric was not used to letting people do his work for him.
With his mind made up, Aldric headed for the dungeon. He had to go see the witch Islinda and know what she had done to him.

Islinda woke up with a start. She must have fallen asleep, considering the crick in her neck. No wonder prisoners tried everything to escape. Aside from the chances of being executed, the living conditions were horrible. Or perhaps she had gotten used to the luxurious lifestyle Aldric provided her. This wouldn’t have been a problem back in the human realm.
Without any source of light, the cell was pitch black, and Islinda couldn’t see a thing. At the same time, the air in the cell shifted, and she felt goosebumps all over her body as the temperature in the room fell.
"What the hell?" Islinda muttered, rubbing her hands down her arms. She knew the dungeon was cold, but not by this much. It was almost as if winter had settled into the room...
Islinda stiffened, feeling a bad premonition. She was not wrong. Almost immediately, her eyes connected with blue, glowing eyes outside her cell door, and her heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
Oh God. No. She knew whom those cold, unforgiving eyes belonged to. Aldric.
To think there would ever come a day when Islinda would be scared of Aldric’s presence. Yes, he had scared her in the past with his twisted games, but he had no intention of killing her. But Islinda could not say the same now. The current Aldric was unpredictable and terrifying. She did not recognize him anymore. It was almost as if she was staring at a stranger.
Fear rooted Islinda in place, unable to look away from those mesmerizing yet cold, glowing eyes. Relief washed over her knowing he was outside her cell and not in there with her. But that relief was short-lived as she remembered that he was the high lord and had full access to these cells. He could be inside in an instant if he wished. Oh God, no.
As if Aldric could sense her fleeting relief and wanted to crush it, he snapped his fingers. Instantly, all the torches along the dungeon walls flared to life.
The sudden blaze of light cast eerie shadows across his features, making his already menacing appearance even more terrifying.
Islinda’s eyes widened, and she swallowed the lump in her throat. The flickering flames danced across Aldric’s face, highlighting the cold determination in his glowing eyes. The atmosphere in the cell grew tenser, each second stretching into an eternity as she watched him, paralyzed with fear.
But then, she summoned the courage to ask him, "Why are you here?"
Aldric attempted to move and Islinda quickly shouted, "No, don’t move!"
He looked at her with an inexplicable look.
She licked her lips and said, "We can talk from there."
The truth remained that Islinda couldn’t handle this version of Aldric right now. Also, what if Elena manipulated him to kill her again? She couldn’t fight against Aldric. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
And then disgust crossed his features, "Why?" He sneered, "Are you scared that face the consequences of your actions?"
"What?"
Islinda had seen Aldric use his abilities in many fascinating ways, but never like this. Slowly, and in a horrifying display, she watched as Aldric’s shadows began to creep into her cell. Frightened by the uncanny sight, she scrambled backward, her heart pounding in her chest. However, that was just the beginning.
Aldric twisted away from the outside of her cell, his body seemingly merging with the shadows. They pulled him in with a wrenchingly creepy and painful grace, his form contorting as if being devoured by the darkness. With a final, sickening pull, he emerged inside the cell, standing exactly where his shadow had been moments before.
Islinda forgot how to breathe. The air in the cell felt thick and oppressive, every inch of her skin prickling with fear. Aldric stood there, his cold, glowing eyes locked onto hers, the flames from the torches casting flickering shadows that made his presence all the more terrifying.
Aldric could have asked for a key from the guards to unlock the door. Or he could have easily broken the door with his supernatural strength. Not pull himself through this scary and painful procedure. It was almost as if he meant to scare her. And it worked because she was scared as hell.
And then, he finally spoke.
"What did you do to me, witch?"
