Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 829 - 37: The Five White Kites in the Attic_2
"I'd rather not." Tilan raised her hand waving it off, to her, wearing a swimsuit for a photo was no different from just wearing lingerie, especially for an album cover, that would be too much.
"Hahaha~" A burst of laughter sounded from the small boat.
After that, the four of them continued to move forward on their small boat across the lake, under the clear azure sky where wisps of clouds drifted by.
After a brief trip to the Seventh String's third district, the four returned to the academy, as the end of the year approached, and activities related to the Winter Festival celebration were about to start.
"There aren't the same kind of large-scale competitive battles in university as there were in high school."
On Friday afternoon, after classes, the four still hadn't left when Shui Yanqing spoke about the differences in university life.
"Why's that?" Blanchi asked with a curiosity typical for a baby.
"Because university students are no different from adults." Shui Yanqing winked at her.
"If you want to show off your strength in battle or to rank in competitions, there are more direct and specialized large-scale events. The internal competitions in universities are somewhat dispensable."
"In addition, not all universities are dedicated to training for combat professions. For example, having our Songstress fight one-on-one isn't quite realistic, but if it's about leading a large team in strife and conflict, we don't need to wait for the Winter Festival for that."
"However, there are some unofficial events in the Academy City, all sponsored by large corporations, mainly to scout for talent, and they are aimed at students within the Academy City," Shui Yanqing added.
Hearing this, Blanchi was somewhat interested because her family had been ordinary, and during high school, she had only been able to watch the Winter Festival competitions on a projection screen and never attended in person. Now that she was in the Central Star Domain, she wanted to experience the atmosphere and environment on the spot.
Ores wasn't really listening to Shui Yanqing's explanations, as she was too familiar with these events; instead, she was pondering other matters. However, Tilan was paying close attention; after all, she hadn't been in the Central Star Domain long, and many things were new to her.
"Tilan, do you want to go watch the competition?" Ores noticed Tilan's attentive listening, so she asked.
"I'm a bit interested." Tilan nodded earnestly. She still didn't know the true strength of the prodigies in the Central Star Domain today.
"Next Saturday, there's a large event called the 'Spiral Leaf Cup,' sponsored by twelve large corporations. Tiran, do you want to come with me?" Ores didn't often go to watch these competitions, but she wouldn't mind if it was to accompany Tilan.
"Sure, that sounds good." After a moment's thought, Tilan nodded in agreement.
Seeing Ores inviting Tiran, Blanchi, who had wanted to speak up, closed her mouth. In fact, during this time, because she often went to Evelyn's classes with Tilan, they had become very close. Plus, Tilan wasn't haughty, nor was she too clever like Shui Yanqing, so they got along very comfortably.
Luckily, Tilan noticed this and spoke up: "Why don't we all go together?"
She knew Blanchi wanted to go, and if the three of them went, Shui Yanqing would also join.
Thus, the four made plans for the next weekend, and then they left the academy for the day.
Back at the mansion, Tilan went up to the attic at the top, the space shaped like a triangle, but with some wall space on the sides, not very big and furnished with five fluffy bird nests. There were also a few feathers lying around the room, with a round barred wooden window on the side wall that could be pushed open freely up and down.
Since it was just evening, some of the sunset rays reached inside, warming the room in the winter day.
Finding a corner lounger to sit on, Tilan opened a book on birds she hadn't finished at Yuanting Academy, leaning back and slowly flipping through, occasionally looking up to gaze at the distant sunset, lost in a daze.
It wasn't necessarily about learning knowledge or anything, just wanting to relax in her spare time, turning the pages of the book, soothing the emotions bubbling up inside her.
The red twilight gradually filled the sky, and in the distance, the trees on the campus shone golden in the sunlight, their leaves reflecting twinkling light, like memories of days gone by.
Slowly, a few black dots approached from afar, revealing their dim golden white feathers as they got closer.
With their wide wings spread out, the five White Kites glided across the sky towards the mansion, flapping their wings in front of the attic to slow down before landing on the horizontal bar in front of the round window and one by one, crawled inside.
Upon their return, these five creatures seeing Tilan, who was leaning against the wall reading, immediately surrounded her, rubbing against her and occasionally making noise.
"I know, no need to keep calling, you guys." Tilan patted their heads, then took out a food bowl beside her and poured some white jade-like edible rice into it, and the little fellows pecked eagerly at their meal.
The feathers of the five White Kites were mostly pristine white, but there was a faint and delicate bluish-grey color on some feathers on their wings and tails, which was pleasant to the eye and gave off a fluffy, warm feeling.
They've grown up before I realized it, Tilan thought as she slid her hand under their wing feathers, enveloped by down, and felt exceptionally warm.
After finishing the special food Tilan had given them, the five creatures quieted down considerably. They gathered around Tilan, squatting down, their feet hidden by their bodies and feathers, some burying their heads in their plumage, others standing tall and then closing their eyes, quickly entering a state of light sleep.
Tilan, too, closed her eyes at this moment, sensing the slow flux of Magic Power within the room, and checked on each White Kite's condition, such as their physical health and the progress of their Transcendent Core cultivation.
Unlike humans, the Transcendent Cores of animals are mostly specialized, meaning they are designed specifically to enhance their bodies and use certain skills, without the need to consider too much extension and compatibility.
The skills and Secret Techniques they can use are limited, unlike humans who can learn many and then switch between them, but there is a benefit to this as well: specialized skills and Secret Techniques tend to be stronger, capable of exceeding the average of their same-rank human peers.
Tilan wondered whether there were any Breeder-related competitions or events in the Academy City, feeling a bit curious about what level these little fellows might be at amongst their Breeder peers. The Yuanting Academy she attended during high school specialized in the breeding of supernatural bird creatures.
She initially intended to use the Tianyu Wind Kites to help restore the environment of the Four-leaf Crystal Star Domain, but now there was no need to rely on the Tianyu Wind Kites anymore, so she was no longer as anxious about the nurturing of these five young ones and was more inclined to let nature take its course.
Well, they don't necessarily have to become very strong to assist her, it's also wonderful if these five little fellows can live happily, right?
As the distant sunset faded, the orange-yellow night lights inside the house lit up, and Tilan stood up, patted the five creatures, directed them back to their respective nest pads to sleep, and then took a book and went downstairs.
On regular days, there would be maids to clean and prepare food; she only needed to occasionally check in on them.
Back downstairs, Tilan had a simple dinner in the side hall and then inquired about the recent household situation from the maids.
"Lord Geyin usually doesn't go out. We deliver the meals everyday and do a bit of cleaning before coming out."
"Does she go during her class times?" Tilan was somewhat concerned.
"Lord Geyin does attend her classes at those times, but she doesn't have many classes. It's said that she applied for and was exempted from some courses by the school," the maid explained.
"So that's possible, huh." Tilan expressed her surprise.
"How about the Giant Spider at home usually, does it cause trouble or tease you?"
"Sometimes it would drop down from the ceiling to scare us, but as time passed, everyone got used to it and would check the environment first." The maids present were no ordinary people, being at least Sequence 5 Transcendents, and the Giant Spider couldn't succeed easily as long as they were careful.
"Because of this reason, everyone has become quite adept at dealing with ghostly and spatial attacks," another maid replied with a light smile.
"That thing..." Tilan shook her head, unsure if she should properly discipline it, yet not wanting to be too harsh.
"Let's leave it at that for now, if someday it goes too far, or makes you uncomfortable, adding trouble, just tell me, and I'll restrain it."
"Yes, Lord Tiran," the maids bowed in response.
"Candle is still in deep slumber in the basement, I checked yesterday, and it seems to be advancing to the next stage. If there's any anomaly, just inform me directly," Tilan continued with her instructions.
"Yes, Lord Tiran."
After Tilan asked about the household expenses and other affairs, it was almost 10 o'clock in the evening.
"That's it for today, you all should rest early as well," Tilan said as she stood up, feeling the onset of sleepiness.
She then took a shower in the bathroom, changed into breathable and comfortable pajamas, returned to her room, settled down quietly, and slowly entered a stable breathing state as she fell asleep.
