Chapter 879 -879: Death God Form
Li Yao nodded, “Then it’s settled; watch my methods when the time comes.”
“Good, I really want to see what else you’re capable of.” Vereesa nodded in agreement with Li Yao’s suggestion, as she too wanted to clarify what exactly was going on.
“We can sleep for now. With our pets around, and with their heavy losses, tonight should be safe.”
Afterwards, the three of them, without talking further, leaned against some cargo and rested.
The next day, everyone continued to follow the caravan. To avoid the enthusiastic players, Li Yao stayed close to Vereesa and Ronin.
The aura of the two super bosses was too overwhelming, and the players had no chance to approach them.
Indeed, the players’ current strength was very weak, and super bosses like Vereesa had no interest in bothering with them.
If Li Yao had not been a successor to the queen and later proved his strength with archery, Vereesa probably wouldn’t have shown him any courtesy till now.
Of course, after one night, Vereesa had checked her emotions and reverted to her original prideful self, not showing any better attitude towards Li Yao, though she tacitly allowed the summoning of a nightmare at their side.
By the afternoon, Li Yao simply summoned a kodo beast and slept on it, preparing for the night’s reconnaissance.
In the evening, more than thirty rangers, along with Ronin and Li Yao, split from the caravan and had already entered into the Dragon Throat Clan’s scout territory.
The Orcs wouldn’t reason with them or conduct free trade.
Later, it took everyone an hour and by nightfall, they finally found a decayed cave.
Ronin transformed into a small fire person and entered the cave, which soon became dry.
Everyone entered the cave and even fortified it for stability.
They also organized the space and sorted the items using various magical objects.
In just about twenty minutes, Li Yao even felt as if he had returned to the territory of the high elves, entering an inn opened by them.
Grand and luxurious—such were the high elves, always meticulous even in the wilderness.
“I will conduct a soul scan later; you don’t need to worry about me. In this state, I won’t actually die. You just need to guard my body,” Li Yao said without explanation, lying down on the bed, and then he activated his skill.
Li Yao appeared in the form of a black Lich, looking like the Death God. Seeing his body lying on the bed, Li Yao felt a strange sensation, not to mention Ronin and Vereesa.
“You, you’ve actually studied necromancy, that, that is a taboo,” Ronin stammered.
Vereesa rolled her eyes, “You fool, his mentor is my sister, the current Dark Queen. Why talk to him about necromancy being a taboo?”
Li Yao gestured with one hand, and the Reaper’s Scythe floated in front of him. The chains on his body danced as the huge sickle split into four, two hanging at the ends of two chains, two crossed directly on his back.
“I sense a profound decay, the scent of death,” Ronin frowned as he looked at the rust-speckled sickles.
Vereesa also frowned, “I sense the scent of a Divine Artifact.”
“No time to explain now, just stay here. If we’re discovered, take my body with you,” Li Yao reminded them at the end.
“Unless I die, I will preserve your physical body,” Ronin solemnly said.
“It’s not that serious; I’m off now, wait for my message.” Li Yao’s figure faded and vanished into the air.
Though Li Yao had entered a stealth mode, his speed hadn’t slowed at all. Enhanced by a spell from Ronin, he was now the equivalent of a level sixty boss.
Like other cities of the Dwarfs, Gruimbart too was built upon a mountain, not only that, they often hollowed out the belly of the mountain to serve as the main body of the city.
Despite this, scattered Orc camps still surrounded the city outskirts, their campfires visible from a great distance.
Li Yao easily bypassed these camps, not so much due to his incredible skills, but because the Orcs hardly feared a small-scale infiltration of their main city.
The Orc Legion was elite in itself, and the Dragon Throat Clan represented the elite of the elite. Coupled with the Dragon Legion now in the city, to all Orcs, this setup seemed as impregnable as a fortress.
On the way, Li Yao placed three Ranger form skills into his skill bar, choosing Dark Arrow, Sonic Exploding Arrow, and Charged Arrow for this mission.
The effects of the skills remained the same, but their execution was vastly different.
Combined with the Reaper’s Scythe turning ranged spells into melee skills, Li Yao familiarized himself with the altered skills throughout his journey.
For instance, Dark Arrow had become a throwing of the Sickle marker, and Sonic Exploding Arrow was similarly a throw of the Sickle.
The Charged Arrow had turned into a Charged Attack, which was the aspect of the skill Li Yao valued most for its ability to maximize damage at critical moments.
All along the way, Li Yao encountered various monsters to test out his skills, gaining a good understanding of each.
Around ten o’clock at night, Li Yao finally reached the gate of Gruimbart, spotting four Orc Guards on sentry duty, with patrol teams passing periodically.
Li Yao immediately threw an exploding Sickle, observing Orc guards stationed further inside the walls.
“Perfect chance to test the power of this Reaper’s form combined with the Reaper’s Scythe,” he mused. These guards were elite, certainly the Silver Elite among the Shadow Dragon Throat Orcs, far different from the ordinary Silver Elite.
The two chains currently serving as his arms whipped forward, rust-speckled Sickles with a ghostly glow flying towards two of the guards.
Thud, thud…
The guards had just sensed the disturbance when the Sickles pierced through their necks.
The two Orcs clutched their necks, emitting hoarse sounds, while the other two guards hurriedly shouted and tried to help, only to find them already breathless.
However, the safe guards too screamed as a black energy transferred from their hands on the dead into their bodies.

Reaper’s Poison: A manifestation of the Reaper combined with the Reaper’s Scythe. Upon a Sickle’s hit, this effect triggers, continually draining the target’s Soul Power and life force to replenish the Scythe. Contact with the target spreads the infection.
Watching the agonizing struggle of the two Orcs made Li Yao gasp in surprise. Although the health drained very slowly, the pain of soul extraction could undoubtedly affect their combat performance.
Reaper’s Puppet!
A shadow flashed through Li Yao’s eyes as the two fallen bodies suddenly fused together along with nearby stones, quickly transforming into a huge monstrous Puppet.
This is another alteration of the spell, which allows any dead matter to form into any desired shape of a Puppet…
