Modern World Warlock-Chapter 276: Dante’s Treatment
It had been a week since Dante fell into a coma after transferring Lexia's soul into Sixteen's body, and Imera had completed the medicine they needed.
If the treatment had been done in Dante's old world, they would have had to force-feed him the liquid and make his body swallow it while unconscious.
However, with all of the tools in the modern world, Paige was able to put the substance in a syringe and apply it to the warlock with a quick shot in the leg.
The scientist had been attentive to the creation of the medicine since she wanted to learn herself, and she realized that the potion's main ingredient was mandrake, which was called "mandragora" in the world of Terra. Still, the mandrake's effects were the same in both worlds.
Initially, Paige was confused as to how a plant that was considered highly toxic could be used as an antidote, so Imera elaborated.
Since mandrake plants had a sedative effect that could put a person to sleep, it also made the person's flow of energy much fainter, allowing his natural umbra to regenerate without the necrotic energy eating it away.
Of course, Paige wouldn't have been able to discover the magical properties of plants on her own, and she felt glad that she had learned something entirely new.
Even though Imera told everyone that Dante wouldn't instantly wake up after receiving the medicine, his closest friends still stayed in the room for a few minutes, just in case Dante decided to surprise them. However, that didn't happen.
Later that day, the harpion twins visited Dante at the infirmary, and Camille accompanied them after they asked to see their big brother.
When Asher and Amara stood before the unconscious warlock, their expressions turned sad as they could barely feel his aura, making them think that Dante was dying.
Camille quickly calmed them down and explained that his low energy output was an effect of the medicine they gave him. Still, the twins seemed heartbroken.
Ever since the twins were taken in by Camille, Dante never treated them as his little siblings. In fact, he had been very vocal about his displeasure with the harpions before, so she didn't understand why the twins were so infatuated with him.
The handler thought that, with time, Dante would get used to the harpion twins and treat them as he did everyone else. Nonetheless, the warlock never changed his mind about them.
When Cerberus glanced at Dante, he hopped off Camille's arms and climbed on the foot of the bed, laying down next to the warlock.
'Gah! He is so cute!' Camille thought, holding her chest in pain from the cuteness.
"Oh? Does that help, Cerberus?" Amara asked the puppy, confusing the handler.
Camille couldn't see it, but Cerberus was slowly transferring small amounts of his umbra to Dante, and after the puppy happily barked and wagged his tail, the twins decided to join in.
Placing their hands closer to Dante and hovering them above his body, Asher and Amara closed their eyes and focused on transferring their umbra, expecting their big brother to wake up.
Nevertheless, after a few minutes, the twins were exhausted and sat down on the floor beside the bed while Dante was still unconscious.
Camille smiled at the twins, still believing that Dante was wrong about them, and asked Rina and Rona to carry them to their rooms to rest. Cerberus, on the other hand, decided to stay at the foot of the bed.
The following day, the twins returned early in the morning to transfer more of their energy to the warlock, and they kept this routine going every day, waiting for the moment that their big brother would wake up.
One evening during the late hours, Cerberus opened his eyes when he heard a 'poof' in the infirmary room, finding Krom beside Dante's bed with a frown on his face.
The imp felt embarrassed about visiting the warlock while everyone else was in the room, but he was just as worried for him as the others.
Ignoring the puppy's gaze, Krom raised his arm and transferred some of his umbra to Dante in his own effort to help him heal. When he was done, he locked eyes with Cerberus and signaled him to keep his presence there a secret.
Still, he wasn't the only one who visited Dante late at night, as Lilith also went inside the infirmary to transfer some of her umbra. However, her aura was so powerful that she had to be careful not to overwhelm his body.

A little over a week had passed since Lexia's rescue, and Netherius was standing at the top of a corrupted skyscraper in the center of his necropolis, which kept expanding and overtaking the rest of the city by the day.
Behind the necromancer, his five strongest Death Knights stood tall, awaiting orders from their master.
"Ahh, he really did take that woman's soul away…" Netherius muttered to nobody in particular, raising his arms and surrounding himself with the putrid, necrotic air.
"I wanted to taunt them and make the rebels fall into despair. Hellslayer… You would dare challenge me in my domain?" he continued, grinning from ear to ear.
"Vesnia, Udras… The two of you will go east," Netherius commanded.
"Radeon and Saturio, you'll go south," he continued, gazing at his last Death Knight.
"Isidor… You can probably handle the north alone," Netherius said with a cheeky smile on his face.
"I'll go to Novis as well!" Vincent interrupted, abruptly arriving at the rooftop.
Netherius sharpened his gaze and stared at Vincent for a few seconds in silence. "Are you sure?" he asked with utter disinterest.
"That bitch, Lilith, is there, right? I definitely have to say hello, don't you think!?" Vincent asked with a seemingly desperate tone. freёwebnoѵel.com
*Sigh* "Do as you wish…" Netherius replied under his breath, evidently annoyed by the man.
"Hey, Vesnia, Udras…" The necromancer beckoned his Death Knights as soon as Vincent left the rooftop.
"Yes, Master?" Vesnia answered.
"Make sure to bring back that pig alive," Netherius said, explaining that they needed him to maintain relations with other cartels around the world.
