Sett staggered, leaning against Zarah’s shoulder.

Thankfully, she was a Tomb Raider, so she could handle him leaning against her.

Sett shivered, moving away from Zarah to lean against the wall.

The wall cracked.

Even Zarah wouldn’t be able to handle his body anymore.

[Tomb Walker progress: +1 Tomb Heart]

Sett groaned.

His body, which was of a mummy, had absorbed the energy of the living from Black’s body.

Black might be a ghost, but his body was clearly that of a living being. And once a mummy kills a living being, they will be able to absorb them to grow stronger.

["Sacred" Tier 1 Tomb Walker evolution requirements met]

Sett’s flesh and bone began to transform from its very core.

A wild heat rushed throughout his veins, even through his unbeating heart.

Until now, his skin and flesh had been as strong as hardened steel. But now, that level has been surpassed.

Sett clenched his fists, making the air crackle. He now had nearly 2 tons of force hidden inside his body. Before he broke through, he had barely had 1.4 tons of force.

He laughed out loud.

Then tried moving his hands around as fast as he could.

[Successfully evolved to Tier 2 "LOW" level in the Tomb Walker pathway]

[Tier 2 Tomb Walker: 1/9 Tomb Hearts]

Eh…

Suddenly, Sett stopped laughing.

He could feel the warm sensation of his wet, bloody clothes against his skin.

He could feel Zarah’s worried pat on his shoulder.

He could feel the tenderness of touch.

Sett felt his emotions boil.

My sense of touch, he realized, has returned.

In came the dizzying sensation of his entire body’s sense of touch.

Sett coughed out a mouthful of black blood, then wiped his face clean.

He now had a body as strong as titanium, with enough strength to destroy hardened steel with bare hands.

Now, he wouldn’t have to be so afraid of people like Shining Black.

Before Shining White could catch up with him, though, Sett disappeared into the alleys with the ladies. But even as he ran for his life, Sett couldn’t help but squeeze Zainah’s ass. She still had that perky butt, the one he so adored.

She glared at him, but surprisingly didn’t rebuke him.

Sense of touch was the best.

He squeezed again.

How soft.

He carried them up and began running at his full speed.

Sett was delighted.

Nearly 70 kilometers per hour of speed!

Smiling, Sett once again squeezed Zainah’s butt.

She muttered something inaudible in annoyance.

They were running for their life, for god sake!

Sett suddenly stopped doing that, he stopped running itself.

Zainah turned to look at Sett, worried, and her face changed.

Sett had stopped his antics but he had also stopped moving. His skin cracked as if he were a vase that had started to break, and blood leaked through the cracks. He grimaced in immense pain and fell limply to the ground.

The girls were both startled.

Silent, unconscious. Vulnerable.

After a while, Sett woke up, grimacing in immense pain. Immediately after, he noticed that he was being carried by a small body.

Zarah…

Sett was being carried on the little girl’s back, and they were still on the run. His body was too heavy for Zainah to lift but Zarah was a Tomb Raider. And she could run much faster than Zainah.

Sett kissed the top of the girl’s head as she continued running.

"Keep running for a while longer," he said softly.

She nodded, Zainah being carried in her other arm.

Sett examined his own body.

His skin had cracked, blood seeping through.

His Axiom, which he hadn’t been able to use before today—or sense for that matter—had stirred slightly again. The mere stir had made Sett’s entire body shiver with utter pain. It was so painful that he completely fell unconscious.

If Zarah didn’t carry him and run, he would have already ruined the plan.

Mummies were said to be incapable of being in pain, but this much pain, Sett hadn’t experienced even while alive. Not to mention that his sense of pain had returned along with his sense of touch.

But Sett didn’t think that pain was a weakness. It was a strength.

It allowed one to know when they needed healing. Without pain, one wouldn’t even notice a wound and would just die in bliss.

Sett didn’t like that.

Pain was needed.

And he was not afraid of pain.

He had experienced a lot of pain throughout his past life. The pain of being stabbed by swords, the pain of arrows on his back, and even the pain of being roasted alive. But this pain that he had just experienced, it was beyond all of that.

This was true misery from the very soul.

It felt as if the essence of his very existence was cracking.

This is troublesome, Sett thought.

This pain came from overburdening his mental space. Sett’s Axiom was just too strong and without the entirety of Ehyut’s territory to support it, it just couldn’t be used.

It was like putting a sharp, heavy axe on top of a fragile glass table.

Thankfully, the pain only lasted for a short second.

But that was enough. He had been knocked unconscious!

Sett’s forehead became matted with cold sweat, his body even bloodier due to the blood that seeped through his skin.

He had just used the Tier 1 level of his Axiom’s abilities, not daring to use his True Form or Axiom Armament, but even that had almost caused his mental space to crack.

That had, of course, caused him to fall unconscious for a short moment. But if he hadn’t used it, he wouldn’t have been able to kill Shining Black so easily.

And having become unconscious, he also became much calmer.

If my mental space wasn’t being supported by the City of Burrhen’s territorial energy, he realized, I would already be dead in both body and soul.

Sett turned to the projected map again.

This Shining White, how is he tracking me?

He made Zarah stop with a word and made her release him.

Sett then let Zarah climb on his back and carried Zainah in his underarm. Then he began to run in the other direction from Shining White.

His map couldn’t show all the Axiom Holders in this city. It could only show them in the radar when a very overt Axiom was being used repeatedly. Only Shining White was doing that in the entire city.

Sett wondered how much stamina that guy had to use his Axiom so repeatedly.

Would he be exhausted by the time he caught up?

He had a feeling that wouldn’t be the case.

As he ran, Sett noticed that Zarah still looked shaken.

He asked, "Was it your first time seeing death?"

Zarah sniffled, placing her forehead against Sett’s shoulder.

She was shaking, but had kept it all in till now.

"My sister never let me see such a dark world," she said, biting her lips with tears streaming down her eyes. "Everything was so good until just this morning!"

Zainah bit her lips, feeling pity for her innocent little sister.

Sett was about to comfort the girl when he suddenly stopped in place—completely bamboozled. He looked genuinely shaken.

What… the fuck?

Zainah… had vanished?

From his arms?
