Shining Yellow and Grey, subordinates of Lord Burrhen, rush through Burrhen City upon learning of his murder, joining Shining White and Black in pursuit of Sett and the sisters. Sett, using a projected map of the city’s hidden paths, evades White momentarily, carrying the exhausted Zainah and Zarah.

At the restaurant, Shining Gold and the invisible Shining Silver assess Burrhen’s body, marked with "Magic" in blood. Sett, ambushed by Black in an alley, loses limbs but activates Life Share, transferring his injuries to Black after a countdown, killing him and absorbing his Tier 2 Tomb Heart. The sisters emerge, shaken but relieved, as Sett revels in his regained touch.

In ancient times, Sett trains with his grandmother Ismera on the Central Continent. She clears the training ground to ease his nerves and assesses his Axiom of Reincarnation abilities. Life Share transfers wounds to attackers after a minute, impressing Ismera for Tomb combat. Death Begets Life heals using death energy from corpses, demonstrated with an orb, earning praise for its utility.

Sett hesitates to show Murder Soul, wary of its dangers, as Ismera pushes him to reveal his full potential before their Tomb raid.

Sett reluctantly demonstrates Murder Soul, killing a caterpillar that transforms into a ghostly, murderous butterfly, possessing and attacking Ismera. She deems it a dangerous last resort due to its uncontrollable, evil nature.

Death’s Call, a debuff weakening foes based on reading their thoughts, briefly saps Ismera’s strength, impressing her with its strategic value. She lauds Sett’s versatile abilities, boosting his confidence despite his mother’s criticism, and they prepare to raid Tombs together, bonding over her encouragement.

Back in the present, Sett evolves to Tier 2 "Low" Tomb Walker after absorbing Black’s Tomb Heart, gaining titanium-like durability and touch sensation. Over exerting his Axiom causes excruciating pain and unconsciousness, but Zarah carries him and Zainah as they flee.

Recovering, Sett switches to carrying them, reveling in touch, though his body cracks from Axiom strain. Burrhen’s territory supports his mental space, preventing collapse. Zarah, shaken by death, weeps, and Sett stops abruptly as Zainah vanishes from his arms, heightening the tension.

Zainah floats, gripped by the invisible Shining Silver, as Shining White confronts Sett. White orders Silver to kill her, but Zainah’s Game of Benefits sways Silver momentarily, conflicting him with pity and fear of White’s wrath.

Sett throws Zarah into the air and charges, tanking White’s acidic scythe to rescue Zainah. Using Death’s Call, he softens Silver’s titanium body, beheading him with a longsword. White’s counterattack is parried, and Sett heals via Silver’s two Tomb Hearts, reaching Tier 2 Mid-level. Silver’s visible corpse reveals a handsome, tragic figure, leaving an impression as Sett and White face off, wary of each other’s growing strength.

In ancient times, Ismera and Sett ride camels across the Central Continent’s deserts, approaching ruins where she plans to show him a Tomb’s birth. She explains Tombs as the world’s way to impose order, urging Sett to form his own beliefs. Sensing subtle signs—shifting winds, humming sand—they witness the ground split, birthing an A-Tier Tomb pyramid from a void. Ismera notes higher-tier Tombs contain worlds with missions and guardians, this one limited to two entrants, before they camp nearby to rest.

In the present, Sett evolves to Tier 2 "Mid" after absorbing Silver’s Tomb Hearts, gaining tungsten-like durability, 2.2 tons of strength, and taste sensation. Shining White, mourning Silver, warns of a ghost uprising without Burrhen’s control, threatening nobles and a Tier 4 ghost’s wrath. Sett counters White’s hypocrisy, preparing for battle as White’s Poisonous Smoke fills the alley, killing commoners. Unfazed by poison due to his mummy nature, Sett retreats, realizing a Tier 4 ghost outmatches his plans, shifting his confidence to survival.

Shining White, fueled by anger over lost ambitions and noble deaths, attacks Sett with pervasive smoke, turning his face purple. Sett flees with Zainah and Zarah, massacring ghosts erupting in the city square—faces cracking into dark voids. Trapped in an alley, White taunts him about the approaching Tier 4 ghost that killed Yellow and Grey. Using Death Begets Life, Sett heals with ghost energy from his Tomb, then employs Death’s Call and Tomb Lord to rip out White’s heart, killing him. Exhausted, Sett reflects on life’s equal worthlessness across ranks, collapsing against the wall.

Sett, drained after killing White, asserts all lives—noble or commoner—are equally worthless in death, kissing Zainah passionately as Zarah guards them. A Tier 4 ghost in a colorful suit appears, embodying death’s equalizer. To transcend mortality, Sett absorbs Burrhen City into his Tomb using Tomb Lord, pulling everything—including the sisters—into a dark subspace. The ghost flees, and a new A-Rank Tomb rises from the void, trapping Sett inside as the world heals the chaos.

In their desert camp, a bold Sett enters Ismera’s tent in boxers, cuddling and kissing her playfully despite her mock protests. She indulges him, ruffling his hair as he questions his fit as a ruler, caring only for family. Ismera assures his potential, letting him sleep on her chest, indulgent of his affection before their Tomb raid, reflecting his desire to impress her.

Author’s Note:

Let me talk about some things here. This novel, Mummy Evolution, is what I imagine to be a story that has everything I wanted as a novelkiss reader. And I’ve tried hard to deliver on it. I know it might sometimes get sloggy to read through, but I genuinely hope all of you continue reading it. After all, the arc that just ended was just the introductory arc of this novel and I believe I’ve already shown you what I can do.

If I delivered good, know that this is just the lower end of the story. The further it goes, the more explosive and wider in scope and stakes it will become, and more interesting due to that. At least, I love writing this. Otherwise, I won’t be doing so many mass releases like it’s nothing.

So, anyway, I hope to make this a dynamite, so please show it the love of an explosion.
