Mummy Evolution-Chapter 92: Surrounded and in danger
"Kill everyone, move together!" the First Prince shouted.
The Pharaoh and Egrith immediately nodded, vanishing in a blur. In an instant, they closed the distance, fast enough that the girls would be reduced to mere remnants of existence in the next breath.
But just as their hands reached out—grasping for their prey—the girls disappeared.
Sett had already moved, whisking them away before impact.
"The women are his weakness! Use them against him!" Egrith barked, pivoting sharply to pursue.
Sett streaked through the burning palace, his expression dark. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. He had planned to split them up, divide and conquer, but they were too coordinated, too relentless.
Indeed the royalty is annoying, no matter the era and how weak they might seem.
Alone, he could at least hold his own—survive, if nothing else. But with the women in his arms? Impossible. They were too fragile for a battle of this level. If they got caught in the crossfire… they wouldn't stand a chance.
They would die.
Zainah used her Song of Playfulness even as her surroundings moved like a blur. The voice was brief and useless, completely ignored by the three men chasing them.
Soon, though, Sett stopped, the girls heaving in his arms.
They were surrounded by burning walls—with nowhere to go. If Sett had been alone, he would have just jumped into the flames. Even Zarah could endure the flames. But they had Zainah with them and she had a mortal body and flames were deadly to such beings.
Even Sett himself hated flames. After all, he was a mummy. But that was merely an instinctive dislike and not a true weakness.
Zarah clung to Sett's neck, a fearful expression on her face. "Big bro, I am scared. I am scared. I am scared. Where did the invaders go, why are they not attacking them?!"
She became even more panicked as the sound of their pursuers closed in.
Sett caressed her back. "Ow, ow, don't be scared," he said gently. "Why would you be scared when you are in your big brother's arms?"
Sett's arms tightened around her. His voice was gentle, almost playful, yet Zainah knew better. "Ow, ow, don't be scared," he murmured, stroking Zarah's back. "Why would you be scared when you're in your big brother's arms?"
Zarah bit her lip, but she didn't answer.
Then the crash came.
The walls trembled as the three pursuers burst into the room, their gazes sharp and merciless. Even Egrith, who had once looked at Zainah with something other than indifference, now held only cold resolve.
She wasn't of importance to him anymore. None of them were.
They were enemies and only fools would let complex emotions build up in one's heart when it came to enemies. And even though Egrith was a tragic, broken figure, he was not a naive and inexperienced fool.
He knew that he had to kill all outsiders. After all, what if Sett joined with the invaders who burned the palace, won't that be a big issue?
Zainah inhaled sharply.
And Zarah, fragile and weak, was shaking.
This wasn't a fight they could win.
"Don't immediately kill the women," The First Prince said, uncaring that Sett listened. "They are his weakness, use that to hurt him until he becomes weak. Then kill or enjoy or whatever with the women as you please."
Egrith shook his head, a murderous glint in his eyes. "Just kill them, no need to be so roundabout. Once that woman is dead, the man will not go away, I know his type—if we touch his people, he would go crazy. Let's end it all!"
The Pharaoh nodded.
Sett stood there, shielding the women in his arms.
The girls were tense.
The pursuers were tense.
But a single person remained as calm as ice.
Sett looked at the three pursuers. He then said, "Zarah, I told you to watch and learn. You are scared, I understand that. But look up. Look straight at your enemies."
The three attackers remained unmoving, weirded out by Sett's unusual calm.
Zarah shook her head, hiding her face in his chest. "No. No. I am a coward. I am a coward, I don't want to see anything."
Sett placed a kiss on top of her head. "You might be a coward, but so what? Courage is not fearlessness, courage is the willingness to do something even while you are afraid. Little lady, become courageous and look up at our enemies. Big brother promise that no one will hurt you."
A bead of sweat slid down the Pharaoh's forehead.
Something was wrong.
Zarah looked up, meeting their enemies head on with her gaze. She felt her heart shake at the sight of these tall, intimidating men, but then, her heartbeat calmed down. Big Brother Sett was more formidable and he was on her side.
Sett smiled at the girl's bright eyes. Then, he looked at his enemies.
"I kind of wanted to do it the easy way, you know?" he said calmly. "Divide and conquer, as my mother always used to say. But since you guys give me no choice, I just have to do it the hard way. Right?"
"What are you going to do?" Egrith asked with a dark face.
Something hit Egrith out of nowhere, sending him sliding across the burning floor. He stood up in startlement, looking around.
Sett was still standing at the same place where he had been standing, still unmoving.
The Pharaoh, not knowing what was happening, shouted at the top of his lungs: "All soldiers inside the palace, come this way! Ignore the invaders and focus on the enemy here! Come! Protect the royal family with your lives!"
Sett tiled his head as he noticed guards running into the area one by one, all emerging from the flames.
"Sett…" Zainah murmured.
"Big Bro," Zarah said, eyes shining. "Are we fine?"
The army of men slowly surrounded them, all running towards them through the flames. Meanwhile, the three royalty began retreating, feeling an eerie sensation of wrongness.
Sett smiled. "An army?"
Heh.
"I have one too."
Other figures moved out of the flames—the Invaders—and the guards were all pulled up into a battle of their own. Meanwhile, a few other figures walked out of the flames, not yet fighting anyone.

Seeing the figures, the girls had their eyes widen.
They knew who these people were!
The events of the past few hours rushed through Sett's mind.
