The Mythborn Prodigy

The next option was the commanding Paragon, and he got a similar vibe from it as he did from the Soulforged Warden. It was a good path, but it just didn't fit his style.

He guessed he got the path from his Lead Them To Victory achievement. The bonuses it granted weren't half bad. The Command Auras and the ability to link minds was something any leader would crave, and the ability to store and replay battlefield simulations would act as a great training tool as well. The stat bonuses weren't half bad either, and a solid 15% to Willpower would always be welcome. However, that's where his interest stopped. While he constantly found himself in leadership positions, it wasn't something he wanted to base his path around. So with slight reluctance, he moved on to the next and final Path.

The Chrono-Kenshin or Speedblade Paragon path, and he had to admit, this path might appeal to him more than the Sovereign Bladewalker path simply due to its obvious inclination towards time-based abilities. It was also a clear play on his speed-based build. Something made even more obvious by the staggering 25% increase in agility.

The moves it presented were also quite appealing. For instance, the Temporal Echo Steps as a skill was something that would piss off anyone he fought, and his sword swings gaining momentum as it moved, meaning more strength, was also a great addition. Unlocking a new combat technique whole also making him immune to a lot of negative effects intent on making him slower or rooting him to a spot sounded great too.

All in all, it sounded like a solid path, and most would go for this option.

However, there was one thing about it that made him reluctant. The path sounded like it lacked potential.

Each path was formed as a result of something significant he did in the past, thus adding to his records, and while he had a speed-focused build, he hadn't really performed any time-altering feats. That meant that the true effectiveness of this path wasn't that great in comparison to the other options he had. It was a similar situation with his Commanding Paragon and Soulforged Warden path, those had appeared as a result of actions he'd only performed recently. So the records that made them up weren't that deep, and as a result, their potential wasn't great.

On the other hand, the Mythborn Prodigy and Sovereign Bladewalker paths were paths that were formed through actions he'd been performing for a while, not to mention, the actions that made up those records were significantly deeper as Titus had done some things related to them that couldn't be matched by what he'd done for the other Paths. As such, the potential they had was far more.

As such, he removed the other four from his mind and focused solely on the two remaining paths. Mythborn Prodigy and Sovereign Bladewalker. These were his two choices.

Titus closed his eyes as he thought. Both of them had their pros and cons, and they appealed to him greatly.

'... System. Can I choose more than one path?'

[No.] The answer came instantly and Titus sighed.

He struggled for a bit more, then sighed and ultimately decided to follow his heart and instincts.

A few seconds later, he opened his eyes and spoke.

"I choose the Mythborn Prodigy." As soon as he said that, his status window closed and a single notification appeared.

[Path Selected: Mythborn Prodigy.

Do you wish to proceed? Once selected, the choice cannot be revoked. Yes/No?]

Titus took a deep breath, then he selected yes.

As soon as he did he gasped as his vision suddenly went white. Before he knew what was happening, he found himself in a dark space.

There was no sound, and Titus couldn't feel his body, yet, he instinctively knew that this was his mind, or a portion of his soul to be more specific.

Before he could make sense of what was happening, he suddenly saw six different orbs appear in front of him. The first one was an iridescent Silver-White color with shifting undertones of Violet and gold. When he stared at it, he felt a strangely intimate feeling, despite it being unfamiliar. Like it's a part of him he's never met. Somehow, he knew it represented the path he'd chosen. The Mythborn Prodigy.

The next order was a deep metallic blue with white hot sharks radiating around it. It was like a blade that had been freshly pulled from a furnace. Sharp and Unyielding. Even in this soundless space, Titus felt it release the rings of metal, like a sword being unsheathed. This was the Sovereign Bladewalker path.

The next orb was a mix of Ember and bronze, with motes of gold and black. As Titus stared at it, it felt heavy and warm. It reminded him of some of the forges he'd seen in person, but also different. This was the Soulforged Warden path.

Then came the next Orb that was a vibrant purple streamed with soft blue and gold runes circling it like a halo. Staring at it, Titus felt like it was absolutely massive, but also quite small at the same time. It was a feeling he knew all too well, the feeling of being in front of his Master, a being beyond his scope, yet capable of making himself comprehensible in front of Titus and everyone else. This was the Primordial Disciple path.

The next orb was a crimson-gold color, with a bright core that pulsed similar to how a war drum would beat. Staring at it gave Titus the sensation of staring at something firm. Like standing before a powerful general. It demanded acknowledgement and respect. This was the Commanding Paragon path.

Finally, the last orb was a pale green, cyan, grey and gold color translucent in appearance. It gave Titus a strange feeling, like it was there, but also wasn't. As though it woukd vanish the moment he took his eyes off it. Something related to time. This was the Chrono-Kenshin path, the Speedblade Paragon.

Titus marveled at all of them, but before he could spend too much time doing so, the first orb, the one he'd chosen, moved forward.

It was much faster than he anticipated, and before he could react, it smashed into his chest, then his vision started to blur. But before it blurred completely, a powerful voice, one heading recognized as his Master's, sounded in his mind.

'Awaken the legend buried in your blood.'

Then he woke up.

Titus blinked a few times as he regained his bearings. He stared at the clock on the wall and saw that onky a few minutes had passed, but it felt longer...

He placed his hand on his chest to calm his racing heart, then he took a deep breath and exhaled. That's when the system chimed.

[Congratulations on choosing your path. Would you like to see its skill tree?] Titus blinked before nodding subconsciously.
